Me and my friend heard wonderful things about the pancakes so we made a trip up, only to receive tasteless pancakes and cold, dry, and old bacon. We ordered hot chocolate first and took 15 minutes, once we ordered the pancakes they arrived very fast. We ordered a side of Nutella which took a while to arrive. We couldn’t stomach any more pancakes we had 1 pancake out of 3. As we went to pay it was 23.50 for two terrible pancakes and two cold hot chocolates.nStaff weren’t very helpful and service was awful considering there was only at least 5 people in the place.nWould never return or would not recommend.

Metro is a great spot for people watching on South William St. Lovely fresh food (I'd recommend the Nachos or Goats Cheese Salad) nCoffee could be hotter when served & a large coffee resembles a regular coffee in other cafes. n

Had a lovely lunch here today & the food was delicious as usual. The Metro special of eggs with bacon & pancakes was lovely and the med sandwich was great. Love to pop in here for lunch & the staff are so friendly & helpful.

I met my husband here for lunch. I ordered the Cobb salad and my husband ordered the Metro sandwich (meetball baguette). Both were really nice, the salad in particular. We had to wait a while to be served but the staff were very friendly. I would definitely go back here and recommend it to anyone.

Every time we pass this restaurant, its always busy so we paid a lunchtime visit to check it out. We were promptly seated and our orders were taken. I had Bruschetta and the house special soup which was Chorizo & bean and my wife had a warm chicken salad. The bruschetta was covered in tomatoe and had great flavour. The soup was out of this world. Full of beans and delicious chorizo flavour without being overpowering. My wifes salad was served with French dressing and she loved it. A bottle of sparkling water and a freshly squeezed orange juice were our drinks. Total for this was €23 and was well worth it. We will return. The restaurant was just getting busy for the lunch period and the atmosphere was only starting to be felt when we left.

Nice restaurant/café and always busy which is a good sign. Staff always very friendly and normally service is fast and efficient. I do wish though that the staff would return your change when you settle a bill with the table attendants.

Every time I come to this cafe, I'm so impressed with how warm and welcoming the staff are. This is not something I'd especially be on the lookout for in a cafe or restaurant, but when you receive such good service, it really makes a difference. The cafe seems to be run by a couple and they really go out their way to make you feel comfortable and welcome; although it was very busy in the cafe I was greeted and told how long I'd be waiting for a table. Once seated and served I was asked if I'd like a paper to read, which was then brought over to me. I also noticed that they had a lot of staff working which I appreciated, it's nice to see that they're not trying to cut costs by making fewer people work harder. In terms of cost, I don't see much of a difference compared to other city centre cafes. I will definitely be coming back here and would recommend it to everyone.

The atmosphere in Metro is lovely and the management and staff really go out of their way to make sure you have a nice time there. There is quite a unique atmosphere, and Metro definitely has a very individual feel to it which is a bit of a breath of fresh air! My drink (soy hot chocolate) was lovely, but I felt it was a bit over-priced. I ended up paying €3.70 for a small cup. Being aware of this I would probably order something different next time but I am likely to go back!

I normally get a morning coffee here and have been in once or twice for lunch; so decided to pop in for dinner. Service: Very good and friendly waitress, can’t fault at all – thank you. Tables: Obviously trying to maximise every bit of space, tables crammed in everywhere, customers on top of each other. A bit too close for comfort for my liking. Food: My boyfriend got the pasta salad which looked lovely (and he said it was) I got the chilli special. It comes in a bowl with tortillas on the side. The only thing is that the rice is all at the bottom and tons of chilli on top; very awkward to eat – you basically have to work your way through the chilli and then I was left with a lump of rice at the bottom. It was nice and spicy but the rice was not very well cooked and clumped together. I got a glass of “chilled” milk which was warm; we both got dessert; death by chocolate and lemon drizzle; both nice - terribly sweet, bought in desserts. Both cost nearly €5, while the special of food was only €7.50. Total cost: €31 for 2 mains, 2 desserts, 1 milk, 1 coffee and 1 7up. Overall: I will probably stick to sandwiches / coffee and not both with mains.

i normally pop in here for a quick coffee, i love the outdoor seating, its a great place to people watch! i decided to treat myself for breakfast and choose the the metro special. i have to say i was very disappointed. while the eggs and bacon were spot on, the pancakes were the packet variety thrown into a mircowave and heated up. anywhere advertising for brunch with pancakes on the menu serves the fresh batter variety. service was slow even though there was only two other tables inside. in future i'll be sticking to just coffee

This is where you go to chill with a coffee and the papers, or a quick bite and a catch-up with a friend. The service is always friendly and I vary between the turkey&brie ciabatta, the pancakes or one of the breakfast options. A gem in the city!

I couldn't possible rate this place any higher. I would ordinarily sit outside just for coffee but I had food inside on this visit. There is such a nice, cozy and laid-back atmosphere in this cafe. The staff are always very friendly and attentive. I had a croissant with cheese and mushroom which was delicious. Great value too!

Ate there with a friend most recently, although have been many many times. Sitting on the street seating on a nice day is lovely. They assumed we were a couple and brought his cheesecake with two forks. Quite amusing, nice to see they are so encouraging to daters! Food is great generally I have had a few time that it was not up to par but mostly it is and when good it is lovely, the special sandwiches are always good and great coffee.
