Met a client here for lunch, we both had the Chicken Cesar Salad, which had to have been the nicest ive ever tasted. The place was busy at lunch time but there was no problem giving us a table. All in all its a lovely place to eat, food, atmosphere and service was supreme. Highly recommended for another visit! :)

Just came in for coffee and a pint after lunch elsewhere to catch the last few minutes of the match. No decaff, unorganised staff, overpriced drinks and rude service. Left as soon as the full time whistle blew.

Stopped in here while doing business in the city for a late lunch bite at about 3:30pm, and although the pub was empty the Chef was super accommodating - I'd ordered the carvery beef and (being a real Dub!) I asked for the flap! (To those of you who don't know what the flap is..... it's the really crispy dark crusty end piece of meat from the back of the cut!) He drowned it in gravy for me with a fine helping of mashed potato, a couple of roast ones and a portion of carrots and cabaiste! I was in carvery heaven! I will definitely be back for more of the same next time I feel like my stomachs a bottomless pit! Great Grub! (Justifiably washed down with a nice black pint!)

Arranged to go here in a group of 12. Agreed set price menu was 3 course for €19.95, however, when we got there, they gave us a menu with separate prices. When I enquired if they had given us correct menu, we were told that the 3 course would be €21.50. While €1.55 is not much, it was very much the principal of them changing what they agreed in advance. As we were a party of 12, we were not in a position to change venue on a Saturday night. Eventually they agreed to honour their previous arrangement. The food was delicious and the service was very good. All in all would recommend but get in writing and special arrangements.

Ate here with my mam and boyfriend in dec and thought it was nice, but it was very quite for a Saturday. We just wanted main courses, and we went for the Char grilled Sirloin Steak & French fried onions. The steaks were great, cooked perfectly. The service was good but a bit slow, we had to wait a long time to order a second drink during the meal as there only seemed to be one waitress on at the time. but we would defiantly go back again for a steak dinner if around dame street!

I went to the restaurant upsatirs, on wed 1/10/8. There were 4 of us. We all had different types of steaks. One went for the t-bone, i went for the 8oz steak. When all the food was served the temperature of the food was luke warm. Within a couple of minutes they were cold. I dont know why I didnt have it all sent back, but I guess as we were celebrating someones birthday I didnt want to make a scene. The service was friendly, but what matters (the food) was a big let down. I knew that all we were going to get was pub standard food, but at the very least I expect my food to be hot when i get it. Dont go to the Mercantile for food, as there are plenty of other pubs around that do similar food, for similar prices, but at least you get it cooked properly.

The chef was very friendly and interacted with the customers, nice touch. Food was prompt and delicious. Great value. Could not finish the burger,it was huge. Definitely go again. Busy spot during the day.

Popped in here before going to a show at the Olympia. I had the surf & turf which was ok, the steak was really nice but the prawns were so over cooked they didn't taste like prawns anymore! My other half had the fillet steak which he really liked. The staff although friendly were very slow - we waited 15 mins for the bill after asking twice!

Myself and my parents went here on Saturday night upstairs to the restaurant and never again. I don't even know how it can call itself a restaurant, it's just basically pub grub and not even that great. I ordered the surf and turf and I ordered the steak medium. It came out well done and the prawns with it were the frozen ones out of a bag and they were like rubber. The desserts were a joke. They are the bought in ones that are just taken out of the freezer. The ones we got still had the ice on them when they came out. I then ordered a cappuccino and was told that the "restaurant" doesn't do cappuccino’s you can only get them in the bar. When I asked them to ask the bar to send one up I was told that the bar staff were too busy. Have you ever heard the likes of a restaurant that doesn't sell cappuccino’s!! I would never go back here again and I would tell other people to stay away.

Bog standard pub grub. Nothing out of the ordinary, you know what you are getting and that's why you go. Service was nice and quick which suited us as we were on our way to a concert. Good value for money.

Called in an hour before a show we were going to hoping to get a meal. Had no problem getting a table. The food was nice but not great. Had 2 courses in about 40 mins which suited us. Service was superb but maybe rushed on another night. Food was good value on the set menu. Would go again but try others in the area first

Typical pub grub, but with good, friendly service. Cheese and bacon burgers were a little lacking in bacon, but meal was still nice.

Ate in the restaurant upstairs and the food and service was excellent. Food is very cheap and a great bar downstairs to go for a few drinks after your meal!
