I really cannot fault the food here. Everything I have eaten over the years from salads, steaks to sandwiches have been beautiful but shocked to see how expensive it has gone.

Nice place. Food is good, but still think it is on pricey side.

Went to Bull & Castle before an evening show in Town and its a perfect little spot for a bite to eat and a beer/wine. Lovely setting, little candles on each table and great selection of nibbles (wings, onion rings etc.) or mains like steak/fish and chips. All very tasty and very well presented. Served on wooden boards with a few dips attached. Cool spot, will defo return. Great for groups too or after work drinks.

Went here with a few friends on Sunday afternoon. It was so good steak and chips with peppercorn sauce and a pint, can't beat it! The restaurant was busy with a great buzz and the service was still quick. There's nice little picnic benches outside by the side too if you're a smoker much nicer than having to stand on the side of the road like loads of other restaurants! Over all great experience anyone who loves steak should go here!

Had two friends from Japan who wanted a good steak but local - we were not disappointed. The restaurant was busy so great atmosphere but we were seated quickly. Great menu and really enjoyed the food and wine, it is a bit expensive but they do know their steak! Would recommend.

I have heard so much about the place that maybe my expectations were too high. Bull & Castle proved to be one of the most disappointing and dissatisfying meals I have had in a long time. My friend and I had dinner here on Friday night before a gig. She opted for the early bird menu, I chose steak and asked if I could choose to go with a dessert on the early bird afterwards. My friends starter was chicken wings and while they looked good and she confirmed they tasted great the presentation was poor. A few wings thrown in a bowl. In other places chicken wings were accompanied by a side salad and actual effort was put into the presentation. When we ordered our steaks (both chose the rump) we were asked what temperature we would like them cooked at. My friend chose medium well, I asked for medium. As this is the way I always request my steak I am used to a steak that is still pink inside but not bloody. When our steaks arrived my friend had an overdone steak, closer to well done than medium well. Mine was a huge lump of meat, at least 5 inches high and I knew straight away it was undercooked. Sure enough, when I cut into it the inside was red and bloody. I couldn't eat it that way so I asked for it to be cooked to the way I had requested. They took it away while my friend ate her meal. When it returned it was clear they had just cooked the outside more and this was now crispy but the inside was still bloody. At this point I had eaten my side so they had brought me another. We were tight on time so I decided to just eat the cooked outside part and leave the inside that was bloody. Overall I was able to eat less than half. When he came to clear the plates and saw that over half my steak remained the waiter, as a token, offered me a free aperitif. It was one I do not like so I declined. I also opted not to get a dessert, I just wanted to leave. The best was yet to come though. When we requested the bill the manager came with it and asked about our meal. I answered that it was disappointing and explained about the steak. He then siad that I had chosen that type of steak, that I should have requested it well done if that's what I wanted (it wasn't) and generally giving me attitude. It was some of the worst customer service I have encountered in a long time! If your chefs cannot cook a large lump of steak the way the customer wants it then choose a smaller piece! Overall the experience was extremely rude and I will not be returning!

The rib-eye steak was very tasty and every one of the large party I was with really seemed to enjoy their meal. The dessert (meringue, cream and raspberries) was also gorgeous. My only disappointment was that they no longer do deep-fried Mars Bars, but the waitress was lovely and promised they'd be on special that Friday if we wanted to come back! Great service and delicious food!

The Bull & Castle does a very good beer battered haddock, with chunky chips and great mushy peas - complemented by a craft beer recommended by the barman. Not bad value either.

Went here with some work friends. As usual here, the steak was outstanding and I stuffed myself like a pig. The rest of the group did the same. The meat here is just great and the early bird and the value menu have some very good deals. On a side note, we later had a platter upstairs in the beer hall, which was nothing compared to the restaurant food. Avoid the platter, it's just awful food they serve to the ppl drinking upstairs. Eat downstairs for the real treat ;-)

We've been there for having lunch, there was only 4-5 people eating -mainly tourist. Despite of that we had to wait a lot. The Italian waiter was nice and the soup was ok. Then we ordered a chicken breast with peas to share which was an interesting concept. Unfortunately it had no taste at all and the chicken was not overly cooked, it was bleeding a bit. When we showed that to the waiter, he offered another one for us but we were in hurry so couldn't wait for another half an hour. Then we didn't eat it the rest of it and left. The place is price comparing with that quality. I'd never go back again. It's just a pity because they've got a nice location with lots of tourist visiting, so they should serve a lovely food.
