Great location, with a brilliant atmosphere. Good food, some issues with service though.

Atmosphere brilliant, great spot buzzing with people, just on Stephens Green great location. Food i've marked down because two out of three of us got our hot food served cold, and i've only marked service down because the upselling attempt by the waitress, while at first i thought was really good and great to see because sometimes this is something we're quite bad at here in Ireland, but the waitress kept going and going with the upselling and suggestions, to the stage that i have marked down for it, it should be gentle and not so obvious as to cause offence. I have not rated value as my friends would not let me pay.

I had lunch here last Thursday. Although I love the deco and atmosphere at the Shelbourne thought there was no value for money at all. Paying €15 for a Chicken Caesar Salad I expected something at least, edible. Not soggy lettuce! And paying €13 for a glass of wine I would like to think you are going to receive good service. Not for me.

I'm afraid, I don't have much positive to say about the fish & chips which I just had on a Sunday afternoon. Apart from the well cooked and tasty 'continental' chips, the remaining features were well presented but totally tasteless! - The fish had no taste at all (even more neutral than a piece of low-frill fish fingers!) and neither did the mushy peas (watery) which makes me wonder where these ingredients originate! A constant source of frustration is also the fact that glasses are often insufficiently cleaned; frequently showing lipstick, water stains or marks of the previous content. I am aware that times are difficult in the hospitality industry but please give the glasses a longer wash and a quick polish, especially when you serve 12 euro/glass wines or 15 euro cocktails! On the up side, the service staff is attentive and friendly and the portion as such would live up to the 14.95 price tag.

Absolutely stunning, was so glad to see such a wonderful refurb to the Shelbourne. The last time I went in there I really felt like I was going back in time as the horses and carriages trotted by the window and the staff were so polite. It’s a great bar. Can't afford to eat in it, as the sandwiches alone were out of my price range but have had coffee, very pleasant.
