We love dim sum, and Ka Shing is the best place to go if you are in city centre. The restaurant has a very glamorous set up. Highly recommended.

Was so disappointed when, on entering Ka Shing restaurant this evening- I was dying to find a good Chinese restaurant, as it's Chinese New Year and I was at the Spring Festival all day- and saw a big sign on the door announcing that they cook ALL dishes in CHICKEN stock! As a strict vegetarian, obviously I couldn't have this, and I asked the waiter did it really mean all dishes, thinking it had to be a mistake, but unbelievably he said that yes, all dishes are cooked in chicken stock. 'So have you nothing for vegetarians?' I went on in disbelief, and he told me they DID do vegetable dishes, but that they too were cooked in chicken stock! 'Well that defeats the whole purpose!' I said to him, 'that means you basically have nothing for vegetarians on your whole menu!' Worse still, I was here about a year ago, having the egg fried rice and the mixed vegetables in Mongolian sauce, and I can only hope they didn't use the chicken stock then! When I said that to him, I didn't know if he looked like he was going to laugh, but he was polite enough, if not very apologetic, but looked like he couldn't believe it when I said I'd have to go somewhere else. But what did he expect, if they had nothing for vegetarians on their whole menu? I know if someone's not vegetarian, this won't mean a thing to them, it won't be important, but if you're vegetarian, it means you basically won't be able to eat here! (Unless you're one of those not very strict ones, who thinks chicken stock doesn't count!) And I don't know how any restaurant would be allowed to do this, in this day and age! And all they say on their home page about how they always try to be polite and considerate, to respect their guests and give them the best experience possible- well they won't get many vegetarian customers, if they continue to use chicken stock on everything! One thing I have to say for them, though- at least they tell you! Some places might use meat stock and not tell you, so at least Ka Shing are honest!
