Nice place, staff very friendly. Bathrooms were filthy though and could use better attention.

Restaurant response:
Hi, Thanks for taking the time to review us. Obviously disappointed that we let ourselves down with the cleanliness of the bathrooms, we will rectify this. Sincerely The Boxty House

I first saw this restaurant in the early afternoon while in a makeshift parade for a lovely Bagpipe band from Mayo. I came back in the evening, since it was just one, was seated right away. I ordered the Portobello, spinach, walnut, squash Boxty and a lovely glass, or two, of Albariña white wine. The atmosphere staff and food was magnificent. Best way to end the last day of my two week holiday to Ireland.

Restaurant response:
Hi, Thanks for taking the time to review us and we are delighted to hear you enjoyed your time with us. Hope you enjoyed your stay in Ireland and we'd love to welcome you back. Sincerely The Boxty House

Small place, bit expensive for the amount of food. Staff very good, congested seats.Might go back on a free day just to taste the rest of the menu.

They serve traditional Irish cuisin. It wasn't bad but it wasn't as good as I expected. The food there is a bit better than average but not great.

Absolutely fabulous meal! Booked for 7pm and think it was just as well as the restaurant became much busier from 7.30. Great atmosphere and service.....we eat out all over the world and found it really well priced considering quality.....Boxty's fish and chips (beer battered smoked fish).....best I've ever had and the fillet steak was superb. We'll definitely be going back next time we're in Dublin!

Visited here on a Sunday evening and were seated immediately by a very friendly waiter. We went with the value menu, i had the chicken liver and the chicken and bacon boxty. Both were delicious. My main course was very rich, so i couldn't finish the entire pancake, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. My boyfriend had the chowder and the mushroom, blue cheese and boxty dumplings, both of which he said were delicious. When the waiter came to check how the food was my boyfriend asked if his main was supposed to come with bread, the waiter advised it wasn't but that he could get him some no problem. He arrived back with a plate of lovely beer bread which we weren't even charged for. For dessert i had the Baileys cheesecake, i was expecting the usual tiny portion but was given a huge square of cheesecake which was mouth watering! My boyfriend had the bread and butter pudding which was also delicious. All in all a great night, lovely staff, will definitely return.

This was our second visit here and I was a little disappointed. We couldn't wait to get back after our first visit but now I'm not sure we would return again. The first table we were seated at was unbelievably unstable; on bring it to their attention they were aware that the table had problems and tried to fix it with a handful of beer mats. This proved unsuccessful and after a few minutes we were seated elsewhere. I ordered a coddle for starters and tucked in. I couldn't remember exactly what the coddle consisted of according to the menu so when I was finished I asked the waiter what exactly was the soup, he told me it was Irish stew. He apologised for bringing the wrong soup. I know that I ate the soup before it was confirmed that it was the wrong dish but I feel there should of been some gesture of goodwill. The stew itself had a piece of meat so fatty that I had to spit it out. My wife had ribs which we thoroughly enjoyed the last time but this time they were way too spicy, not how they were the last time at all. We usually avoid Temple Bar but could see how this place stood out from the crowd, no I'm not so sure.

Was there for dinner with a friend on the 17th of Jan. One of my favourite Irish restaurants to recommend to visiting friends of Ireland because of it's famous yet traditional potato pancakes. As usual, it did not fail to live up to expectations in terms of the atmosphere and food. However, last night we were thoroughly disappointed with the service from a particular waiter. Although he did carry out his services, he was extremely unfriendly and insincere, not something I expected from a top class restaurant. In addition, his hostility seemed to be directed only towards our table as he would make friendly conversations with other diners nearby. To make matters worse, when we called for the bill, he had circled "NO" on the "no service charge" wording on the receipt, as if demanding for some form of tips. I thought this was highly inappropriate especially when the service from him was so unpleasant. Overall, a great and satisfying meal but would have been more enjoyable had the service been better.
