I visited here last Sunday with family (there were three of us in total), we got there for around 8pm. The restaurant was very busy but we were seen to right away and seated. Service was really good throughout the whole meal, staff were attentive and chatty but not overly so which can be a hard mix to achieve. We all had the steak one rump and two rib eyes with all different sides. The rump was really good, cooked perfectly and a good size (a little pricey, although everything was to be honest). But the rib eye which is my favourite cut of steak was such a let down, really tough meat with little to no marbling to tenderise it. It was more like eating a sirloin then a rib eye to be very honest, really disappointing especially for the price of it. While everything else was good (wine, dessert and service) the steak being the crown jewel falling short just sort of spoiled it for us. I wouldn't be inclined to recommend this place really, as a restaurant that is connected to a reputable butchers the meat should have been a lot better .

Had Sunday roast here with family. Large portion of roast beef, way too much for 1 person, which was tough and not very appetising. Advertised as Dublin best Sunday roast - I don't think so! Sorry I didn't go for the steak as have been on plenty of occasions and usually excellent. Won't be back for Sunday roast as very disappointing - even my husband left half behind.

Had meal last evening in FX buckleys with friends. I I I Ordered Cod nArrived on mash and 2 half scallions on top. However when I started eating IThere was a strong aftertaste and faint undetectable smell. Called the wAiter did not want to make a fuss as I was a guest of my friends. A man in plain blue shirt came back to me and knelt on seat behind me and advised me that the fish was delivered fresh this morning, could it be the purée sauce on plate? Would I like to order something else. Suggested chicken. 'Mam you will have a 20 min wait!'I opted for mash and caramelised Carrot and Parsnip which was barely heated. Amazed in such a reputable restaurant that a simple apology can not be rendered, but you are made feel like it is you who is the problem!!! I have eaten here before so verry disappointed

What a restaurant. Had table for three to celebrate a birthday. We had starters of the kidneys and the scallops - wanted more !!. Two had rump steaks and one went for fillet. All three were cooked exactly the way we asked for. Beautiful. Side orders of fries, onions, and three different sauces. There was nothing left on the plates. The food was excellent. Staff were top notch- very attentive but not overboard. Very relaxed atmosphere . Arrived at 8.45pm and didn't leave till 11.30 pm . Highly recommend the restaurant

Had a night out with the lads the other week and we went here for food first. I think every single one of us got the steak, so good thing it was unreal! Good quality meat cooked exactly how you ask for it and the sides and sauces were really good too! I'd say we will all be back again in no time!

We ended up here which had a reasonably priced 2 & 3 course menu though when you take away the sandwiches and salads the lunch mains are is limited. Dining with 2 friends, I was the only one who choose the starter, a fish chowder. Now the quality of fish chowders can vary greatly so I waited with trepidation. To my glee out came this gorgeous looking thick, creamy soup packed with fish but I glee was short lived since 95% turned out to be mussels which I don't like. The other 5% consisted of the smallest prawns I've ever seen in my life and some salmon along with potato. I've never felt the need to tell any restaurant I don't want mussels in my soup since I normally get 3 or 4 which I fob off on my sister & then tuck in the rest of the variety of the fish I do enjoy. To be fair the soup itself was nice & tasty but it would have been more adequately named a mussel chowder. For mains the other 2 had a steak sandwich with chips. As would be expected in a restaurant famed for its meat they waxed lyrically about the tenderness of the meat. Indeed when we entered the restaurant we were put sitting across from a display of huge slabs of meat which 2 of us found off putting so I asked to be reseated. Sensitive vegetarians should avoid this place. For mains I choose salmon with a herb & cheese crush on a bed of crushed new potatoes, certainly a novel & healthy way to serve potatoes with their skins on. It came with a cucumber salsa but I asked for raw onion instead but then found the dish lacked something because there was no sauce. The salmon however was fresh & tasty, I just felt the dish was incomplete. My 2 friends chose eton mess for dessert which was one of the specials. It came beautifully presented on a slate topped with scrumptious fruit. They really enjoyed it. My friend needed to catch a bus to Meath across the road & we had a divil of a time catching someone's attention to pay the bill.

A large group of old school friends gathered for a late lunch. We dined off the fixed dinner menu - cost at c. €25.00 for three courses, and most of us had steak as a main course. The consensus was - good starters, excellent stakes, deserts Ok and good service. We all thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

Ate upstairs with a group of 20+ and the service was excellent. Leek and potatoe soup was very wholesome and tasty, as were the kidneys. My hake looked small enough but there was plenty in it especially as it sat on top of crushed potatoes. Mates had ordered the steaks - well it is a steak house and all declared very good meat. My double chocolate cake was a bit, well, underwhelming and bordering on not very tasty, where as the baked cheesecake, (I don't like baked cheesecakes as a rule), rates as the best baked cheesecake I have ever tasted. With such a big group I was very surprised at how good the service was. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

I've often eaten here and am always happy to come back for the great food and service. They have recently renovated the restaurant and added a small bar at the front and new seating area around the corner at the back. The early bird menu is excellent value - I had an beautiful 8 oz rump steak, potatoes and lovely chocolate tart with ice cream all for less than €20. You can't argue with that.

My husband and I ate here for a special occasion and we were thrilled to have chosen this restaurant. I had the mussels and himself had the scallops which apparently were the nicest he'd ever tasted. As it was a steakhouse we both had rib eye steaks. They were cooked to perfection, the selection of veg, potatoes and not to mention the cripy cajun onions were amazing. Unfortunately we didn't have room for dessert but were more than satisfied leaving. The service was exceptional & our wine & water was topped up regularly. Would definitely recommend and will definitely return.
