Enjoyed a wonderful romantic evening at Ely. As I've come to expect, Ely is consistent in food quality, service, wine choices and ambience. If I win the lotto I shall hire the entire restaurant for my celebrations and order those beautiful magnums of wine & champagne from the counter top!!!

I am such a fan of this restaurant and visit as regularly as possible, mostly for lunch and occasionally for the excellent value early bird menu. On this occasion I visited with a friend for lunch. The lunch menu is very varied and there are always superb daily specials whether the plat du jour, market fish of the day or the open sandwich of the day. Staff are always very friendly and helpful and the vast amount of choice on the menu means it suits all pockets. I had the plat du jour of veal which was simply divine. I will most definitely be back - I'm now almost part of the furniture such is the frequency of my visits!

My favourite restaurant in Dublin! Excellent food. Excellent ambiance. Excellent service. Probably the most extensive wine list in Dublin.. choices to suit all pallets.. would love someday to manage to have sampled all of them :-)

I really love this restaurant - I have visited for early bird twice and lunch on three occasions over the past couple of months. It's very near my office so I don't know why it took me so long to discover it! Food is excellent in terms of quality, portion size and value for money. Very efficient & friendly staff. Also they have a loyalty card which is a great idea as you can build up loyalty points with each visit.

We had a wonderful early dinner here at Ely Place. I had the steak tartar which was excellently prepared my my wife had the squid, which tasted really fresh. The accompanying wines were of the consistently high standard set by Ely. Service was prompt and very friendly. Very good atmosphere in the bar too.

Dined early on a Friday evening and was suprised that the restaurant was so busy. We both had the crab meat salad with toast and nuts which was delicious as the nuts were a nice extra touch to normal starters. I had the rib-eye and chips for the main and it was really beautifully cooked and seasoned. My gf had the mackrel which she thoroughly enjoyed. We ate from the early bird and found for what we got was terrific value. Could not fault anything on the evening and will definately return.

We visited to celebrate my birthday. The wine was, of course, brilliant but the food was a star in its own right. My main course was vegetarian - and a revelation too. There's plenty for carnivores as well. This was seriously thought-out food, presented brilliantly and with excellent service.

They certainly know their wines, and have a VERY nice selection of them, and how to make a perfect stake. I have had a stake in many places in Dublin, but this is one if the best, every time. We Will be back..

I have never been disappointed in this place. The menu changes constantly around what's in season. You can tell the Chef cares about good ingredients. Flavour combinations are always exciting and delicious. I think they do the best value for quality early bird in Dublin. The wine list is extensive! You could spend half an hour reading it. There is something for all pallets and pockets and they are happy to spend some time with you to help you chose your wine. The atmosphere is cosy, tasteful and relaxed. While they are serious about wine there is no snobbery here. Questions are always welcome. I booked their private dining room for my wedding dinner for 25 people. I was expecting some issues with a restaurant cooking and serving banquet style but everything came out perfectly and well timed. They could not do enough for us and it was such good value! The staff are friendly, attentive and know their stuff! I can't recommend this place highly enough!

Excellent cuisine in nice surroundings. Slightly convoluted entrance (you enter an unattended reception on ground floor until you realise you have to go downstairs to the restaurant). Strangely, 1 small negative is access to the washroom always seems impeded by diners in the small room in front of the entrance. Have dined here 3 times - always good. Excellent wine selection too.

I had to arrange a dinner for a large party of 15. Ely was specifically requested and having only ever been there for wine I was looking forward to the opportunity to taste their food. I booked the private room upstairs for our event and I was initially concerned that the room might be a bit large as it can take up to 30 guests. I need not have worried. On arrival I could see that the staff really knew what they were doing. The room accomodated our numbers perfectly without looking too big. The majority of the group ordered steak which was perfectly cooked. I personally ordered the smoked haddock starter from their group menue and I had cheese board to finish. I couldn't fault the food and service was excellent. Our glasses were nevery empty and even though the staff had to open the heavy doors to come into the room they were never intrusive. Would I go back??? Most definitely.
