Family group of 4 finished off a special birthday weekend with a really enjoyable evening(again), very authentic French food & atmosphere in this pretty little space in the heart of Dublin. No hesitation in recommending for any occasion whether it's casual dining or a romantic evening

I went here with 3 friends last Saturday have to say very friendly and quick service. We all had delicious duck/potato gratin, steak/fries and beef bourbuignon with lovely wine, apple tarte and chocolate mousse. The one complaint we all had was that it was extremely hot I know it is a small place but we would have love if the air con was turned up slightly as it would put us off going there for an evening meal in future.

Went there with a friend on a Monday evening for a casual dinner and was pleasantly surprised. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by the manager MIchelle who was friendly and very attentive. The décor is charmingly Parisian and the atmosphere is cosy. For starters we had the Saint Marcellin Chaud and Soupe à l’Oignon, both were very tasty. To accompany our main courses we decided to order a Bon Rouge as the French would say; St Nicolas de Bourgueil which is a lovely cabernet franc from the Loire Valley. This wine complemented our mains of Steak Frites and Magret de canard roti wonderfully. Both dishes were hearty, generous and delicious. We didn't have dessert on this occasion but we will definitely be back!

I've eaten in Chez Max before for a large group lunch and was not overly impressed, but wanted to give them another go. This time, the experience was much better! I was there for a lazy brunch on a Saturday, and the food, service, everything were just wonderful! My dining partner had the day's special, which he reported to be very good, and I had the croque madame which was possibly the best I've ever had! The staff were attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable. I'll certainly be back!

Unfortunately I found the food at Chez Max disappointing on both occasions I ate there recently. There are a good choice of restaurants close by with similar prices and in comparison Chez Max's food is rather average. However, Chez Max offers a wonderful setting and provides a cosy atmosphere both inside and out. The staff are very friendly and service is quite good.

Happy Father’s Day. Thank you all so much for helping me celebrate Father’s Day with my wonderful Dad. From the moment we arrived, to paying our bill the service, staff and food were excellent. We sat in the courtyard at the back. It was quiet, cosy and really added to our experience. The menu is delicious, the decor reminiscent of a French Bistro and the wine menu has a little of everything to choose from. If you want a truly French experience in Dublin then try this delightful restaurant out.

Another fantastic experience at Chez Max! great food, great staff and wonderful atmosphere. The place was hopping and we were still very well looked after. My only slight negative is that the Early Bird menu could possibly do with a few more options but what I did have was utterly delicious and great value!

The atmosphere in chez max is great, warm, welcoming and relaxed. The moules frites are delicious and a huge portion for the extremely reasonable price. Love this place and have never had anything less than delicious food and superb service.

It is years since I last ate here and I was very disappointed to find that the set menu has not changed in all those years. Still the same three offers for dinner, with the chicken leg in the chicken dish. Not good value for money and too limited a choice. Obviously the menus have not been re-printed either. The weather was mild and so the door was left ajar, meaning that we sucked in other people's smoke with our meal. Needs real work to get it back in the game.
