I'm very disappointed to have to write this review. I had read such good things about this place. Came here pre-Vicar Street. The place itself is great, cute little cantina/cafe style. Menu seems great too. I ordered an Enchilada and my partner had a Quesadilla. The sauces were as if they forgot all their ingredients. Really bland, except for chillies. I'm pretty sure the refried beans were Old El Paso, and the rice was barely rice, let alone nice mexican rice. My sour cream was a decorative drizzle. All in all, the best thing were the beers. I love Mexican food and have been eating it in Mexico and the southwestern states for years, as well as making it at home. Puzzling how a genuine mexican family and restaurant could be so bad.

Received a gift of the cooking school vouchers and have to say loved the place. Decor is simple but spotless, staff are welcoming, friendly and knowledgable but the food..... simply outperforms any reservations you might initially have. It's all fresh, homemade with the very very best of ingredients. Try it, you won't be disappointed!

Have eaten here a few times and it never disappoints. Run by genuine Mexicans, you can be guaranteed of getting real Mexican food here. I've only ever had their burrito and it's big enough that it's easily a full meal in itself and incredibly tasty too. They also have cooking classes that I've heard good things about. I also went to a free tequila tasting event here which was really fun and informative.

The food here is beyond doubt some of the best ethnic, never-mind just Mexican food in Dublin. They are very genuine and traditional. The Staff are only too happy to discuss food with you and tell you in detail how they are making your dish! Many times I have got some of the sauces etc. to go. Soft tacos are the ones to go for here and I highly recommend blowing your mind with the habenero salsa. One thing that is a downer is the price, for a cafe / take out joint it is a little on the spendy side. The goods they sell behind the counter I have spent a fortune on over the years but are now available at half the price elsewhere in the city.

I have been living in Dublin for more two years already and honestly I missed all this time the real Mexican food with real flavour and real Mexican ingredients. There are several Mexican places in Dublin but most of them are just a bad combination of chilli and chips. Azteca is very different place and I wish I had known about Cafe Azteca before! It is a real Mexican restaurant with real Mexican food and Mexican ingredients. All the food I got in Cafe Azteca was completely fresh (Burritos, Cochinita Pibil, Sopa de Tortilla, Zopes and Guacamole) with the real original taste of Mexico. The tortilla was hand made as well as all corn-based dishes like zopes. It is very well located place and very well design with Mexican motives and colours and everything is very clean. The staff of Cafe Azteca were all very nice, very friendly and polite. They really know how to welcome the customers. But the best part was the moment to pay. I didn't spend much money for such a great food. I actually think that it is the first place where I have paid the fair price in Dublin (which is a very expensive city) especially if we count that the ingredients were original. I surely and definitely recommend Cafe Azteca to any one who wishes to spend a nice time eatin really good Mexican food. I will be coming back to this restaurant more times! The best restaurant in Dublin for me so far!

My boyfriend and I ate in this establishment yesterday afternoon as we had heard that this place was worth a visit. Thankfully it wasn't busy when we got there so we got seating easily enough and yes our server was friendly. I ordered the quesadillas with a side of guacamole while my boyfriend ordered a burrito with a side of chilies. For drinks it was minerals. The server brought us a plate of tortilla chips with guacamole which was lovely. Our meals were served soon after and while my boyfriend liked the look of his, I was hugely disappointed with what was on my plate- 3 tiny quesadillas with a drizzle of sour cream and without the guacamole or salsa that was supposed to have accompanied it/ I assumed our server had merely forgot which is fine so I asked him for it. My boyfriend, instead of getting his requested chilies, got a side of spicy salsa but he was happy enough with that. When it came to pay the bill was to €26.40. I looked at it and realised that we had been charged for 2 portions of guac. Even so, it was ridiculously expensive for what we got. Our server then told us that we were been charged for the chips and guac that we never ordered. I couldn't believe that for 2 lunch meals and two minerals it cost that much and I had to refuse to pay for the chips and guac. I will never return to this place!

This restaurant was unfortunately empty when we arrived. Overall I was impressed as the food was good, seemed authentic but not the best Mexican I have ever had. Wide variety of Chillies including chipotle and a few varieties I have never heard of. I will be going back to try them out at the very least. We were well looked after and so we enjoyed the experience even though we were the only ones there.

This small cafe close to christchurch is absolute gorgeous, the atmosphere is lovely and the service absolutely great. I chose a burrito and my girlfriend as well and they were really good, yasty and portion was generous enough. We concluded the dinner with a tequila and lime cheesecake. Food and atmosphere lovelly and price cheap enough. this small cafe is definitelly my favourite mexican cafe in Dublin

Came here with a group of friends for lunch the other day and was impressed with the quality of the food...I have been to Mexico a couple times and had my fair share of burritos and Mexican food and needless to say, I was quite impressed with price, taste and quality. I had the chicken and spicy sausage burrito along with a bottle of Sol beer and a tequila and lime cheesecake and it came to 16.50 My fellow companions had nothing but good things to say about their dishes as well. I would recommend this place to others and go back again and perhaps try something else next time!

stopped here for carnitas burrito was expecting good things but was bit of a let down. burrito was ok but pork seems to be cooked fresh by being fried and was bit tough. would have expected pork to be slow cooked and tender. there wasnt really any strong flavours or heat and was just a bit lacking. atmosphere is very relaxing, staff were good and menu looks interesting. will return here and try again but would expect bit better.
