The Bad Ass Café, established in 1983, was and remains a landmark establishment in Irish tradition and culture. It has played host to a long and colourful history such as almost burning to the ground, being listed on the ‘Rock ‘N’ Stroll Tour’ of Dublin, housing one of the oldest cash payment systems in Ireland and employing the extremely talented Sinead O’Connor.

Now under new Management, we have recently undergone renovations in order to revitalize the popular premises and restore it to its former Bad Ass glory. It has once again become a favourite in the heart of Dublin City Centre, Temple Bar with everything from a selection of delicious Kick Ass Menus and Bad Ass Food Challenges to Kick Ass Entertainment and Live Stand Up Comedy.

This is only the beginning of long and exciting new life we have planned for the Bad Ass Café. If you haven’t heard about us before, trust us, you will!

Bring back the old Bad Ass café!!! This place has turned into a tourist trap - over priced for very average food and not a particularly big choice. Fortunately we got a €40 voucher that cost us €20. The Bad Ass is aimed squarely at the stags and hens, and wasn't suitable for a family of 4. I will have to write a new verse for "Dublin in the rare auld times", lamenting the loss of another Dublin establishment..."The pillar and the Met have gone, the BAD ASS long pulled down"

3 of us ate there. Used a ~€40 for ~€20 voucher. Food was good. It's very loud downstairs when there's a band playing (which was the case on Sat nite!)... so we ate upstairs. Would consider going again.

The food was delicious. I ordered a salad, and I can say this was the best salad I have ever tried. It had blueberries, avocado and even honey .Definetely would pay them another visit.

Standard enough fare of burgers, fajitas, lasagne, fish & chips, pasta dishes etc. Food is decent and prices are fair enough given location. Probably geared towards tourists, not worth going out of the way for

Restaurant was not clean, used napkins and food under tables. Food was ok service was ok but €14 for 4 small glasses of cola concentrate, really? A tourist trap not the bad ass of days gone by. Never again.

Was there with the wife and kids yesterday . The food was nice but the service was a bit mixed , our mains arrived while we were still on starters , a pet hate of mine . The waitress dealt with the problem efficiently and we all went home happy

Whatever about this place in the past, it is a lovely place to eat now. The décor has totally changed, the staff are very pleasant and the food is lovely and quite reasonably priced. Nice that a glass of wine is full to the top and not just half way. Would certainly recommend the place and a perfect spot for lunch/dinner in the middle of all the chaos on the streets outside.

Just awful! The food was terrible, Chicken wings are pathetic and a rip off. THe burger was nasty. Pasta dishes were just ok. Service - shocking! Had to keep asking the foreign waiters where the food was, kept forgetting drinks. Food was delayed, THey messed up our order. Worst of all, some horrible man and woman playing guitar and singing! We couldnt hear ourselves think. It would be grand if they were in any way decent, Just awful experience, and had heard good things about this place. Sad.

We were looking for somewhere to bring the kids before going to a show - I hadn't been to the Bad Ass for a couple of years and it has totally changed - much more of an Irish pub feel to it now but the staff were very welcoming and they certainly cater for children! The menu offers something for everyone with a reasonably priced kids menu also - they had no problem with our special requests for the kids which was great to see. We had the chicken wings (yummy) and the spinach, chorizo and ricotta pasta which was delicious and the pasta was a 'normal' sized portion as opposed to a huge, off putting portion. The kids had pizza and sausages / mash plus dessert and it was all declared 'fab' by them.(Try the choc fudge cake!). Definitely somewhere I'd like to go back to and enjoy a meal and a few drinks (especially the €5 cocktails!). Will be back!

My husband and I went to the grill on Saturday afternoon. The atmosphere was good, they had some live music and loved the Irish bits of it. Singer had a good voice. Service was good and friendly. Food was ok. My husband had the steak, which was not very tasty but the food was presented well. I had nachos starter, not good. It chilli sauce and cheese, that was it. Most of the nachos had nothing on it and the cheese was not melted. Along with this I had the buffalo wings. Again, ok. The menu said spicey, but it just burnt with no flavour. Considering the cost, I would have wanted better flavour food. I would go there again to try the pizza but not much else I am afraid.

I had dinner here with a friend outside in the square on a beautiful sunny evening so I'm not sure what the restaurant is like inside. I really enjoyed the meal though - lovely plate of tortellini and a bottle of chilled white wine - what's not to like?

I used to go to this place twenty years ago and decided to return for nostalgia sake. It's a pity the interior has been changed so much from what it was. As far as the food goes, my soup (potato and leek) was one of the finest I've ever tasted. I also had steak which had a nice charcoal taste but a little too much inedible fat. The service was a bit rushed as the waitress brought me over the steak while I was finishing the soup but apologised and returned when I had eaten my starter. Overall, though, I thought the meal was quite good given the nature of the establishment.

We got a deal here for the comedy night and two 12" pizzas. The pizzas are the traditional wood fire pizzas we ordered two pepperoni but got a salami and perpperoni (they must have run out but we didnt mind as we like both). I enjoyed the pizzas the service was good and it was value for money the only things that wasn't good was the music was way too loud luckilly it was good music, drink a bit pricey and the place was freezing upstairs, I had my cardigan on and was still cold. Apart from that its a good place for a comedy show and a snack

We recently had lunch here and it was one of the worst meals I have ever eaten. How hard is it to get penne aribiata right? It was swimming in oil and there was no trace of any chilli! My husband had the Guinness pie which was basically a watery broth.. The food was terrible and way overpriced I will never eat here again.
