First time visiting Alfies .first impressions were decor and atmosphere is lovely.we ordered the apres work as they call it.early bird in other words. We ordered our starter and main course and to our astonishment it all came on the one plate.which was off putting as the main was going cold as we eat our starter .not a good idea. Other than that.the staff were amazing.very hands on.

I love the express lunch menu that Alfie's has to order, and at a great price too.

I have frequented Alfies on a couple of occasions in the past and always enjoyed the food. However, while in town shopping on a Saturday afternoon with my husband, I was more than disappointed / annoyed by the reception we received. We were met at the top of the steps inside the door by the front of house staff and when I asked for a table for two, he looked over my shoulder at my husband and asked if I was with "him" and if so then I wouldn't be able to dine there because my husband was wearing runners, which are not permitted after 4.30pm! I would like to point out that my husband was wearing a brand new pair of clean white trainers. What is even more annoying is that while we were being refused, a woman and young girl, who was wearing a pair of converse, arrived asking for a table and weren't turned away for inappropriate footwear! I can safely say that I will not be returning to Alfies, and I am sure that my abstanance won't have a major impact on their takings, I am not going to be a hypocrit

"CLASS" One of the nicestest meals I had for a long time mine I was hungry both the service and food was perfect. It's not all that often that I can say that now a days. Put today was one of them great restaurant experiences. Well done Alfie's. Keep it up.

Disappointed….. We had been looking forward to going to Alfie’s after reading the reviews, however, I should have read more and I would have been forearmed. We arrived at 6:40pm and were shown to our table. There was an A La Carte menu and a Cocktail list on every table. I had been on their website earlier in the day and seen they had an “After Work” menu (on the website it said Euro 14:95 on the actual menu it was Euro 19:95) which finished at 7pm – so this menu should have been on each table until 7pm, now I know why it wasn’t. I asked our waitress if there was another menu – big mistake – we should have gone with the A La Carte….. Although you would expect the food quality should be the same coming from the same kitchen – if they had told us we would have paid the extra? The deal was a glass of “house wine” which was vile so it was just as well they removed the larger glasses from the table and gave us small glasses (a blessing in disguise). You had to pick 1 dish from 3 categories…..what you were not told was that all three came together on one wooden board, small portions are good if the food is tasty and good quality (you can excuse anything if the food is good). My prawns were overcooked and were rubbery and the steak well “tough as boots” springs to mind and flavourless…. We decided to have dessert and coffees – can’t go far wrong here. I know you should give a second chance but I didn’t like this restaurant and will not be returning as there are many other nicer places to go…..

Met my a nice maître D who carried my bag upstairs for me. Had the same meal as previously on the €10 Swift menu including a drink starting with the chicken and ham vol au vent for €1 extra. This time it came over flowing with filling and was a very tasty and enjoyable starter to my meal. Unfortunately the meal then headed south. My scampi for €2 extra came battered instead of breaded which I had before and prefer. I'm obviously in the minority according to the chefs feedback though the waitress said if I ever returned at a non busy time they would cook them breaded for me. If I'd known they were going to serve my fish like this I would never have darkened their door. :( If the word 'limp' was ever invented to describe anything it was the accompanying skinny chips. Fresh, fluffy and crisp they were not, more like something that had been standing there a while & served without thought or regard. They complied with my request for raw onion instead of the salad garnish after the waiter initially refused but the kitchen agreed. I paid a €1 extra for a dip so + 1 euro tip the bill came to non €10 but €15 for a very substandard meal. I took a while to get the greasy taste of the batter out of my mouth. Yuck! The accompanying fresh pineapple juice was very nice. They were apologetic about my meal and offered to replace my chips, an offer I declined since I was full. The waiter, who needs to look a little less serious and smile, carried my bag down for me. Top marks to the male staff for gentlemanly courteous behaviour but I won't be returning in a hurry. There are for two many restaurants around who can serve up much better food for the same price and less. From my experience this time Alfie's needs to up its game. Shame because I've always enjoyed my meals there before and thought it would be a sure fire hit but it wasn't. Staff were nice though.
