service could not be faulted .. attentive without being intrusive .. the chips were gorgeous.. desserts to die for .. portions a little small for my liking. My only issue was they had a very poor vegetarian selection in both starters and mains- vegetarian vegans

We visited this restaurant for a pre concert meal as one of the menu pages deals and found it excellent. The service was professional, yet friendly. The orzo pasta dish stands out as a winner-it lt looked so simple and yet it was both filling and delicious. The desserts were also memorable and beautifully presented-I chose the chocolate tira misu while my friend had the lemon pot with macaroons. The performance we were attending was'Brief Encounter' and the meal in the Conrad set the scene perfectly for a romantic evening.

This review relates to the Alex Cocktail Bar in the lobby rather than the restaurant. The worst club sandwich I have ever encountered: one slice dry processed turkey, one leaf of iceberg lettuce, one piece of cold streaky bacon, the end section of an under-ripe tomato, all housed in a bun innocent of any butter or other spread. Beyond awful and outrageously priced, Never again.

Went here with 3 others after an event in the concert hall. The food and the service was super and a real treat. We all chose something different and no one was disappointed. I had goats cheese for starter which was perfect and the cod I had for main was cooked perfectly and served with an interesting side of crushed potatoes with little bits of orange! Random but beautiful. Would recommend a visit here.

Myself and my boyfriend ate in Alex Restaurant on Saturday Night. I had previously won a voucher for dinner for 2. The food was really nice but nothing mind blowing. The smoke potatoes that came with my belly of Pork are very tasty and unique though. My dessert of strawberries with a chocolate mousse and coconut cream was disappointing. The waiter staff were very friendly and helpful. The only thing that let the whole "service" experience down was an issue in the kitchen which left us waiting 30-45 minutes for a mains after our starters were cleared. The management did apologise but that was 5 minutes before the mains arrived which in my opinion was not soon enough. They should have come forward sooner. Our waiter was fabulous though. There were very few people in the restaurant, the odd family group here and there and the piano player who had been playing in the lobby area as we arrived had stopped playing just after our starters were served which left the atmosphere a little dead. not sure if we would return for dinner in Alex

We tried the Bar Food menu from which we received great food. I would like to compliment our server on his excellent service and attitude. To be recommended.

Highly enjoyable meal with a friend. The service was provided by a perfectly groomed genuinely nice guy. We both really enjoyed our food. I had plaice whilst my friend chose a vegetarian dish. We both had deserts which were lovely. Even though the restaurant was not full there still was a very nice warm atmosphere. My only small gripe is that a member of management never visited the table and in a hotel of this calibre I would have expected it. Overall a great place where I would both recommend and returns. Ideal place to eat before the national concert hall.

Not very busy but apart from soup food was very good. Price of soup was taken off bill. Staff exceptionally polite and helpfull. Will return. Very convenient for early-bird before Concert Hall.

Went there on Saturday evening. Had received a voucher for the hotel for a meal to the value of €80. Both myself and husband got the steak, i got fillet steak and I am very fussy about how my steak is cooked but it was cooked to perfection, so tender and lean. Wine was very nice too. Probably a little on the expensive side, we only ordered main courses and this brought the bill to almost €80. The waitress was lovely, because we were going to have to wait a while for our steaks to be cooked she gave us a small bowl of soup complimentary so we wouldn't be left just sitting waiting for the main course to come. They were very professional.

Had tickets for the NCH and thought this would be a nice place to eat prior to show - they do an early bird. The atmosphere is lovely with the piano player at the entrance really adding to this. Service was very efficient with lots of wait staff. Plenty of choice on the early bird but we all opted for the same cod and chips - not terribly classy but yummy! The sides of minted pea purée and tartar sauce were lovely but the batter a little bland despite it's somewhat alarming yellow colour! Dessert was divine again we all opted for the same - chocolate fondant...perfectly cooked. All in all a very pleasant meal if a little expensive but a handy choice for the NCH!

Everything about this place is wonderful although the price of the meal is pricey but it's definately worth it! Will definately come back to try the steak after I save up some money! Oh and I've tried the onion soup for the very first time here was it was the most devine soup I hav ever had!! Def recommend this place!!
