Jade is an amazing chinese -food is of a high standard (apparently no MSGs used), service was great (and extremely friendly), and its excellent value at around €10 for most dishes. They allow BYOB, and generally charge corkage, but they let us do it for free! (Thanks!) This should be a lot more common practice in Ireland, especially in these straightened times... We were there quite early, so not much atmosphere, but never felt like you had to talk quietly like in some places. Will definately recommend to my friends and will be back!

Jade is one of my regular, favourite restaurants in dublin, and any friends I've brought there have also been back multiple times, so I thought it was time to post. The food here is excellent - but you do have to order the right things. Typical chinese take away dishes - e.g. sweet and sour, ribs, chicken and cashew nuts etc don't stand out from the crowd. But the specials are really special - without any of the MSG gloopiness that you often associate with chinese food. They serve a grilled, lightly spiced sea bass dish which is fantastic. The mala lamb is a perfect choice for meat lovers - the lamb is tender and tasty, there are crunchy peppers and onions and it's all in a light, spicy yet subtle sauce. For veg lovers, try the aubergine special - have never thought of aubergines as being a very exciting vegetable, but again, the sauce makes it and it's filling and delicious. Finally, the staff in Jade are lovely - kind, attentive, willing to give good recommendations, tolerant of large parties (they have a room upstairs for functions / karaoke - even though downstairs is cosy and quieter). Try it!

Similar to some other reviewers we ate in a pretty empty restaurant. We did eat quite early though so that is not surprising. The staff were very friendly and helpful but managed to avoid being overbearing despite us being their only customers. The food was tasty, especially the prawn toast. Good value too, we were impressed!

Dropped into Jade for a quick bite before the movies.. it was 7pm so nobody else there really...we were met with a warm greeting and it has to be said the people are friendly and the service was excellent. I had the Singapore noodles for my main , it was lovely but a definitely too much salt , my partner had King prawn and black bean sauce , everything was nice about this dish, although the prawn themselves were tastless.both dishes were a tad greasy, but maybe im being over critical here. Overall with a few tiny changes this place is worth a visit - Ou bill came to 34Euros which included a beer, a coffee , 2 mains and prawn crackers. cant argue with that really.

I went to Jade a few weeks ago for my friends birthday. He managed to get a room to ourselves for the whole night which was handy as there were nearly 20 of us there and we were there to have a sing song after the meal. They were doing a deal for €22 per head, where you get a starter, main and dessert. I got a starter to share with my partner as i was trying to keep myself for my singing debut later that evening. We got the prawn toast with 3 different sauces, good portions. I got the Sliced Beef and Broccolli and Fried rice as my main, the portions again were very good and the Beef was very tender. The waiting staff were very attentive and very friendly throughout the night. There was a good atmosphere as people were helping themselves to the house wine and getting quite merry(although i think it was dutch courage). Along came the hard part, the singing. Despite a few dodgy X factor moments, the night went well and we even went over our allocated time of 12 o'clock we were allowed to sing away till nearly 12.45 with no complaints from the staff. The only negative things i have about the place is that i think they should get new carpets down and a lick of paint would freshen the place up, oh plus my Karaoke mic wouldn't work properly(i wonder why)... other than that, nice place to eat, very friendly staff and food was sublime.

I’ve been here many times and will always come back. The food is delicious; I’ve had lots of things from the menu and have never been disappointed. The chef is happy to let you mix and match items from the menu too…one such dish is King Prawns with Broccoli (usually beef with broccoli), which I’ve had twice now and is really good. No MSGs either which means no feeling ill after Chinese food, which unfortunately is often the case in Dublin. There’s something very charming about this quaint little restaurant and it’s one waitress, whose service can often be slow, but for some reason I never mind when I’m in here. Also, it’s always a good sign to see a Chinese restaurant that always has Chinese people eating in it. This is a very reassuring trait. Overall this is a great little restaurant: friendly (but often slow) service, great food, great value and a lot of charm. Perfect for a good feed before heading to the cinema, a five minute walk to Cineworld on Parnell St.

I was extremely dissapointed with my visit to this restaurant. After reading the reviews, 7 of us headed in for an early dinner las night. The decor and empty restaurant was as expected and didn't put us off on arrival. We ordered a very nice Chilean white wine for the table and a Chinese beer, all reasonably priced and satisfactory. For staters we ordered two of the shared platters between 7 and it was tasty enough. We were looking forward to our main courses at this stage. 5 out of 7 of us were very disspointed with quality of our main courses which none of us managed to finish (unusual!!). Two of us ordered the house special lamb sczechuan and we asked for medium heat, whcih it was. However it was over cooked, tasteless and very dry. Two people ordered the beef sczechuan which was also very dry and extremely salty to the point of ruining the dish. The mains were so dissapointing that we quickly finished up and left, with many comments of still being hungry. Overall I was unimpressed with the flavours and quality of the main courses and it would deter us from returning......unfortunately.

This is a delightful little restaurant that punches above it's weight given it's slightly out-of-the-way location. It isn't the cosiest place and the decor needs a bit of freshening up but praise goes to the always friendly staff who give a warm welcome to diners and of course the tasty food. It can be a liitle chilly on cold evenings if you sit near the front door. Redesigning the entrance to fit in a small hall would go a long way in improving the atmosphere. They have Karaoke upstairs and with large parties upstairs there is a bit of noise leakage. The sight of many Asian diners is also a good sign that Jade is offering authentic Chinese food. The prices here are keen and portions are generous. In leaner times it's this type of restaurant that deserves to survive: Unpretentious, fine food, friendly service and appropriate pricing.

Went to Jade garden a few days ago. At first I was apprehensive as the place was completely empty. The specialities part of the menu seems the most authentic, and on tasting the dishes the 5 or 6 we had, they are the best. And it is really good value too. Between 11-14 euro for most dishes. Meal for 4 with a bottle of wine cost us €65, and for the quality of the food I thought it was great value. Don't let the lack of people or atmosphere put you off.

Well after reading these reviews we all went for a party of 8 and thought the decor was drab, the service slow and the food unimpressive. I have had nicer takeaways and with those I got more than 3 cashew nuts with my Kung Po. Not one of our party got a stand out dish. The spare ribs were also very chewy. It may be low price but you get what you pay for. Sorry wont be back...expected so much more...

Really good value for money. Last Friday was the first time I visited this restaurant & as I had booked it for a group of 9 it was always going to be a mystery. Generous portions - really tasty meals. Service was excellent, fast and friendly - a great place to eat, I will definitely be back soon. For Starters; Jade House Special Hors Douvre For Two Persons, Spring Rolls, Deep Fried Crispy Won-Ton all were a treat to behold. Sliced Beef In Black Pepper Sauce & Roast Duck Cantonese Style went down really well with the group for the main course. For Desert there were 2 surprises; White Brownie & Deep Fried Ice-Cream were a welcome addition. I will be back soon to savour more dishes in this little Gem.

I went here with a group of friends and all of us left happy. I agree with the other posts that the decor is somewhat spare but the service and the food more than make up for that. Definitely the best Chinese food I've had in years and without costing an arm and a leg.

went there expecting great things after the reviews on this website. there have been a proliferation of restaurants in and around capel st in past years and some excellent chinese ones. this is not one of them. for a start it is the most austere restaurant i have ever been in i think not helped by the fact that on a sunday night we were only ones in restaurant. the chef and the waitress stood watching us intently and given we were the only people in the place was slightly annoying. starters were as one would expect warm and crispy for the most part, plastic tasting ribs. main of prawns with garlic was good if overly salty. girlfriends chicken kung po was inedible. ghastly sauce with pieces of chicken of a uniform size and the texture of polysterene. dunno where it all went wrong but will not be returning here.

One of the many quaint café-esq Chinese eateries that have sprung up on the North side of Dublin in recent years Jade offers good food at very reasonable prices. While the interior is a rather minimal and a little drab this place more than makes up for it with good food and friendly service. This would be an ideal place to casually meet up with a few friends for something to eat before heading out for a night on the town.
