Da Mimmo Restaurant
148A North Strand Road, City Centre NorthDublin 1
Their pizzeria gives you the feeling of eating in an Italian family house, linked in with an open kitchen that allows our customers to see the food being prepared in front of them. Their chefs are happy to prepare on the spot a variety of custom recipes that fulfill any reasonable culinary requests.
Their cuisine offers a variety of genuine Italian herbs, extra virgin olive oil, bacon, hams, cheese, pastas, pizzas, vegetables, breads that provide the real desire for Italian tastes but above all is a way of cooking very far from sophisticated food. Their dishes are prepared with ingredients produced in Italy and freshly imported to Ireland.

Arrived late on Sunday so only had mains & desserts. Food was excellent, also the wine by the glass. Staff were friendly and efficient. Looking forward to a return visit.

With all the good reviews I had high expectations, but to be honest I was a bit disappointed. It was very busy and the restaurant is very small. The tables were very close to each other and we had to pass them side ways to get to our seats. I had the feeling that we were sitting at the table with the couple beside us. I had the tomato bruchetta to start with. Lovely dish with a lot of flavour. Main dish was penne with prawns and pesto. It was very oily and the prawns were too sweet. I didn't enjoy it. My partner had a pizza, which was a bit sloppy. Overall it wasnt a great experience. Service good, food ok, and atmosphere/entourage poor.

We had gotten take away pizza from here before, on foot of recommendations, but were not overly impressed. However, everyone said eating in the restaurant was far better so we tried it and the people are right. Place is a great little spot and I mean little. There are only 7 or 8 tables and it's always full. I read a few reviews complaining that it was too crowded but what do you expect with a place this small? I think it actually adds to the atmosphere in the place. Also, I cannot understand the comments about the staff being rude. They were incredibly friendly and helpful, from suggesting a wine, which everyone agreed was delicious, to offering us a free shot as an aperitif. The food was great. All the portions were massive, bar the seafood pasta which, while delicious left herself a bit portion jealous. We only had 1 bottle of wine and food and left but it seemed like the kind of place that would be good craic (and very cozy!) for a group with unending supplies of wine. Will definitely go again. And the pizzas are definitely better in house.

Ate here last Sunday our family of five with daughter's boyfriend ! Have eaten here before so knew to book well in advance as we took up approx a third of this small restaurant! My teenage daughters love the food here and we started with the antipasti which as usual is beautifully presented - we all had different main courses between pizza, pasta & i had the seabass with seafood which was absolutely delicious - as previous reviewer said simple but stunning. My husband had homemade ravioli which was also fab! We had a bottle of the 2008 chianti which complemented the meal & was first class! I can't recommend this small restaurant highly enough with a guantee of great food & excellent service! Definite need to book

Cannot recommend highly enough. Requested special starter of 1/2 main course of spaghetti bolognese, & while not on the menu as starter this was no problem to chef, & it was delicious. Main course was quite incredible : seabass of the day. today it was Seabass with Seafood. All I can say is that it was outstanding in its simplicity & deliciousness : when the plate arrived, I could not see the seabass, as 2 large fillets were covered with cockles, mussels, calamari & sun-dried tomatoes. Staff so friendly & first generation Italian. Best value for money. Book early to get a table as the room is very small. The phrase 'authentic Italian' is bandied around frequently, but it certainly applies in the case of Da Mimmo. this was my 5th visit & will certainly be back. Don't change, Da Mimmo !

Went for a meal here yesterday with a friend (advise booking) as was full at 3.30 with only 7 tables. Both pizzas delish a vegetarian and a tino one. We finished with a panna cotta and very tasty pistashio icecream. Fast and friendly service will try pasta next time.

This place is very small and cosy, so you must book in advance. The pizzas are delicious, so authentic. Not like any of that crap from dominos or apache! The antipasti is also amazing. I didn't have the seafood starter, but the table beside us did and it looked incredible! Will def order it next time. If you like proper authentic italian pizza, and italian food come here! Also amazing value, most pizzas about 10-12 euro.

This is a great gem in the North of Dublin that is unknown to most people, well we are very lucky to know this place as it offers an amazing menu for very decent prices. They always have specials with fresh local products and a lovely wine selection. You need to book on time as this place is always full, otherwise you will have to wait 10-15 minutes for a table. Would recommend for lunch as well as they always have a special deal for lunch. Open kitchen which creates a great atmosphere in the cosy restaurant.

A dining experience in this place is like to step in a hidden traditional old good trattoria in Italy. Went with a couple of friends, we shared a calamari and prawns fritti and then we had pizza, AMAZING!!! CANT WAIT TO GO BACK!!! So delighted to have discovered such a little gem!!

A real little gem. Friendly staff and beautiful food. A real Italian experience the complimentary bread, pesto and olives on arrival is a really nice touch. I would definitely advise booking a table as it was packed and only go if you like beautiful Italian food as they don't change their pizzas and there's no create your own option.

Called in with 3 others before a match in Croker. This place always seems to be busy, and now I'm surprised. Although its located on a busy street it's local feel and amazingly good food are real attractions. The four meals of pizza and pasta dishes were of excellent quality. The service was great and the value exceptional. Yes it's popularity is well deserved

Love Da Mimmo, was here previously with my family and the kids loved the pasta and pizzas. Was here last Thurs with a group of friends and again, I wasn't diappointed. Only complaint was that the pizza was too big! Antipasti were very tasty, staff were very efficient and friendly. Can't wait til my next visit.

This is a tiny jewel in North Strand. Da Mimmo is small - only 7 tables and 3 were full early on a Friday evening so there was a good atmosphere. The decor is more cafe than restaurant - basic and clean. The menu is pizza and pasta with chalk board specials. When we were seated we were served with complimentary antipasti - two small pieces of toasted bread with a serving of pesto, two fat green olives and a portion of red onion chutney which was a delicious taster. For starters we shared a portion of garlic bread with cheese (€5) two bap sized pieces of bread with garlic & cheese and it was hot & delicious. For mains, my partner chose the Pizza Margherita (€9). It was huge - easily enough for two people and properly thin and crispy. Excellent value. I had a special which was chicken in mushroom sauce (€14)). This comes with a choice of salad or potatoes and I chose potatoes. It was delicious. The chicken was succulent and the mushroom sauce was light and creamy. Potatoes were cubed and perfectly cooked -crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. For drinks we had a half bottle of excellent Pinot Grigio (€13) and a Peroni (€4.50). We were particularly impressed with the excellent wine choices in such a small place and a big hooray for a decent choice of half bottles. Service was prompt, polite and friendly too. I'd definitely recommend Da Mimmo but because it's so small, booking is essential.
