We ate there on a friend's recommendation, and were not disappointed!! Very pleasant atmosphere, the staff were very helpful and pleasant. We had a home-made burger and chicken pasta with broccoli. The food was cooked perfectly and generous portions were served. Will definitely eat there again!

Very welcoming staff from the minute you walk in the door. The restaurant is really nice and quite busy which is always a good sign. I had scampi to start which was lovely and then a massive fillet steak cooked perfectly. It came with loads of side dishes though. I think one would have been enough. Had a dessert even though I was full. It was presented amazingly. I struggled to finish it. Overall it was a great restaurant and worth the money.

Willie Pa's is fantastic. From the moment you go in you are welcomed like a long lost friend. Food is lovely with a wonderful varied menu. Tastes and proces to suit everyone. Well worth a visit. Location means you have to drive or get a taxi, it's not walking distance to anywhere but well worth it. Homegrown produce used a lot.

My boyfriend and I ate here on a Sunday evening. We heard such great reviews about Willie Pa's that we just had to go and find out for ourselves. We were very impressed from the moment we walked in the door. We were greeted with a hearty welcome as if we were life-long customers. We were shown into the bar and given menus. There was great choice throughout the menu from brie, scallops, warm chicken salad and chowder among the starters to steak, lamb, scampi, pork steak and seabass among the main courses. This is just a selection of what was on offer. I ordered smoked salmon stuffed mushrooms with tarragon mayonnaise followed by John Dory with fresh prawns. All I can say was scrumptious! My boyfriend got the warm chicken salad with chorizo and sweet chilli sauce followed by lamb shank. I tasted both and I would have enjoyed them just as much. As if we hadn't enough by now, we saw the desserts that were being served to the other guests and we just couldn't resist. I just about managed to finish a beautiful fresh fruit salad served in a meringue nest and my boyfriend had the warm chocolate pudding with caramel sauce. Once again, they were both equally delicious. The service from start to finish was second to none and I highly recommend Willie Pa's to anyone looking for a good meal and an enjoyable evening out.

I was part of a party of 8 people who ate in this restaurant in September 2010 and we all thought this restaurant is one of the nicest hidden gems in Cork. As per one of the previous reviews of this restaurant, the welcome you receive is so warming and something which you rarely experience anymore. The head waiter (and manager) of the restaurant is extremely charming and it's clear he loves what he does as he is an exceptional host. The food in the restaurant is outstanding, especially considering the wide choice of options on the menu. There is plenty of choice on the a la carte menu and on the night the specials included 2 fish dishes as well as a meat dish. Between the 8 of us we ordered various dishes from the menus but the highlights were the fillet steaks (which were huge), the homemade chips and sea bass with prawn sauce (special of the night). The dessert choice is quite varied too, the best by far was the Death by Chocolate which consisted of a medley of chocolate desserts. Beverages were very reasonable also, wine prices started at approximately €19, full bar was also available. One of the additional warming characteristics of this restaurant is the sourcing of the food. Most of the food on the menu has the sources listed such as local gubeen chirizo and cheese. All eggs used in the recipes are sourced from the restaurants own chicken house. Most of the staff are relatively young but service was exceptional; we were seated on time, food arrived at a nice pace and portion sizes were big but not too big that we were too full. I cannot make one criticism about this restaurant at all, it is seriously the best we've visited in a very long time.

Eat out quite alot and am a pure food critic. To begin with the welcome we got was exeptional. Warm and left us have a drink in the bar before our meal. Called for our meal with no rush Had Steak for main and has to be the nicest steak ive ever had. Followed by desserts that were also brilliant. Was quite busy on the night and the planning organising motivation and control that went into this restaurant was 100%. Well Done to all. Highly a visit is a must to this top class restaurant.

I do not normally write reviews for anything, the process of registrations annoys me. However after the meal we had at this restaurant last Friday I feel compelled to coment. It was one of the best meals I have ever had. I went for the special, Rack of Lamb which was cooked to perfection. My mother went for the Sea Bass also a special she was delighted with her choice. We didn't book in advance, but they made us feel welcome and accommodated us as soon as they could. Even though the place was busy, we never felt rushed, we were left to enjoy our meal to the full. Thanks for a lovely evening. PS; why is it called pub gub? this is top class cuisine.

This place is SUPERB!! The food is AMAZING! Myself and my family are regulars here (well when we can be as we live in the city!) but we have yet to be disappointed! Service is excellent - so friendly - we are on first name terms with the manager Malachy - lovely guy and what can i say about the chef?? Just brilliant. His father had a restaurant in Bandon which we also used to frequent (also fabulous!) but he retired so we moved here (!) it's a bit further away but WELL worth it - so reasonably priced and the STEAKS ARE UNBELIEVABLE -You have to try the fillet - incredible. I have NOTHING bad to say about this place. It deserves all the good reviews because it really is a brilliant place with a nice cosy pub. beautiful dining room, great staff and amazing food - FIRST CLASS

I ate here for the first time last week and was blown away. The service was flawless even though there seemed to be minimal staff. There were 2, maybe 3 staff members waiting on tables and tending bar between them yet there were absolutely no inefficiencies in the service. One person in our party asked about a dish that wasn't on the current menu that she'd had there before and there was no hassle in making it for her. The food was fantastic, I had the clonakilty pudding & goats cheese for starter and seabass for main and could not fault it. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Oustanding food, service and ambience.

A gang of us were in Willie Pa's over the X-mas 2008 and i can only praise both the bar and restraunt staff for service and quality food and drink. We had booked table and got seated at the time of booking orders were taking before we entered the restraunt and food was served fast and hot. Plenty of veg and chips on the side. Wine was flowing and everyone in the group was so happy with service and food. I'll be back again. This wasnt my 1st time and it wont be my last time :) Keep Up the good Work!! Well done to Mal and all staff

Our first visit to Willie Pa's and it certainly wont be our last, Beautiful dining room complemented by a very cosy bar area, excellent food nicely presented and served. Also one of the few restaurants to have a steak on the Sunday lunch menu, much to the delight of my better half (No, but we have roast beef seems to be the stock answer from waiting staff in 99% of places we have been to) Well done Christian, Eddie and Malachy, we will be back.

Had a good meal when we went here, However the service leaves a lot to be desired. The Waitress was so snotty and not approachable at all. I tried getting her attention to get a refill of water for about 5 minutes. I would go back for the FOOD ONLY.
