THE IVORY TOWER, run by Seamus O’Connell, is Cork’s most imaginative fine dining experience. Located in the heart of Cork City, this intimate first-floor dining room is one of Cork’s true hidden gems.

Celebrity Chef Seamus O’Connell, star of the RTE’s SOUL FOOD cookery programme, has been serving the highest quality food and wine, with hints of mischief and twists of the unexpected, at the Ivory Tower restaurant for over 15 years.

Seamus’ influence include Japanese Cuisine, Mexican Soul Food, and French Haute Cusine, while the menu also features almost-forgotten Irish dishes as well as European fare.

Ingredients are extremely fresh (and often organic), flavours are bold and presentation is unusual. So whether you choose a classic dish with a twist or one of Seamus' fusion creations, be prepared for humour and originality on a plate.

The Ivory Tower is well-known for its sushi and Japanese food and for its 5-course fine dining menu. It is also one of the only restaurants in Ireland to offer a menu based exclusively on traditional Irish food.

This restaurant is a must visit! The food is very unusual but amazing. The flavour combinations are extremely unique but all work perfectly. The atmosphere and layout of the place are lovely, really homely. A truly great place for food and wine.

Best food in Cork, worth every penny. Wine prices are a bit cheeky.

The 8 course taster menu whilst a good idea in theory the portions were very small and it is quite feasible not to like some of the courses. I personally did not like the Korean Bacon & Cabbage and I thought that the venison lacked seasoning. The Brill with aubergine and tofu was amazing, the creme brule was great and I even tried the sweetbreads. I did not feel that this offer was good value for money. I feel it would be better if the Ivory Tower offered a deal on his regular menu. We have eaten here before and love Seamus's adventurous take of food and flavours

I had the Fusion Tasting menu comprised of 8 courses. Normally 140€ for 2 persons, this was 70€ as a special offer. Each dish was unique and combining unusual flavours together to create a truly mesmerising flavours. Check out some of the dishes I spotted on http://www.foodspotting.com/places/265870-ivory-tower-cork

Absolutely amazing place! The room is small, enough for about 20-30 people aprox but the atmosphere is wonderful. The food is THE BEST I have ever tasted in Ireland! The service was good, although on a busy Friday night, they could have done with another waiter. We paid E150 for 2 people with a bottle and a half of wine. I know its expensive in this day and age but we stayed there for 4-5 hours (a party of 5 people) and ate fantastic food. We were nicely stuffed when we left but not overtly full. Thoroughly enjoy it and will always go back.

Really good imaginative unusual and great tasting food. We love it here and really enjoyed last night. Go if you love food. I won't go on but we think it is an experience that shouldn't be missed if you want something that is different and about the food. The place is great as well.

Probably the best food in Cork ... and the most unusual surroundings. The restaurant is hidden on the first floor of an old building, and the dining room is full of antique china, ornaments and modern art. It won't be to everyone's taste, but I love the contrast between it and the formulaic "clean lines, bold patterns, leather and bare wood" that every new restaurant seems to go in for at the moment. The food is the reason to come here though. It's imaginative, creative, fusion at it's best. Nowhere like it in Cork, and possibly not in Dublin either, There's a lot of Japanese influence, but some Mexican too.Last time we ate there the highlights included tempura, sushi (excellent tuna nigiri), swordfish on banana ketchup, veal chimichanga with a spicy chocolate sauce and something called Dengaku (a sweet miso custard apparently) which came smeared over aubergine and tofu and was simply superb. The restaurant had some bad press recently, but thank god it's still open. What with Augustines having closed down, the choice for really imaginative food in Cork is down to, errr...one. The menu was €50 for 5 courses, tea and coffee included. Expensive enough, but well worth it for this quality food. If you get a chance, pay €60 and go for the cehf's taster menu: 8 mini courses. We did it with a group of friends for a birthday last year - was great fun. Make sure you leave plenty of time though, we were there for hours,

Great character in this restaurant, lovely atmosphere and fantastic decor. The staff are excellent and you are made to feel very welcome indeed. We took advantage of a special offer and went for an eight course taster menu for €45 for two including a glass of wine each which is great value. Crúbíns, Liver, Salmon and Mackrel, Tounge and Cheek, were some of the faire on offer. Well worth the price paid and it was great to try things I had never tried before but I wouldn,t pay anymore for this menu. The regular menu is much more down to earth and is excellent.
