Was down visiting my sister in college the other week and we were looking for a nice place to go to treat ourselves. came across the autumn menu special for €35 on Menupages (always my go to for restaurants). anyway the menu sounded good so we decided on a Saturday night. we were both very impressed i must say - everything about the night was just superb - the service, the food, the decor of the place - wow! for starter i went for the goats cheese and my sister the mussels (I'm not a fan of mussels at all) - plates were cleared! for main i went for the salmon and sea bass and my sister the guinea fowl - cooked to perfection! at this stage we were pretty full but as dessert was included we had to eat it really didn't we?! we both went for the creme brulee - perfect finish! very enjoyable evening! we tend to go to different places every time we have a dinner date but this is definitely a fave now and we both can't wait to go again!

Went to Flemings last Saturday night. I had heard about the special Autumn €35.00 menu, however we both chose from the moderatly priced a la carte menu. My husband had the crab raviole, he grudgingly let me taste, it was a dream, lots of fresh crabmeat and richly flavoured lobster sauce. For main course I had the scallops topped with caviar, the presentation was a deligh, almost as good as the taste. Even though I know Flemings has been there for sometime i was surprised to be told by the owner just how long...21 years, sounds like a labour of love passion and dedication and a best kept secret. I can highly recommend it and will certainly pay another vist before Christmas.

I had never been to Flemings before, and why I really dont know! The place is absolutely amazing, the gardens, setting, food, service... everything was just so perfect for a romantic evening. I just wish it was within walking distance, but I suppose that just adds to the experience of going somewhere different. I honestly cannot recommend it enough.

It was my husbands birthday so I wanted to take him out for a special meal. And special it was. The house has most of its original features which I found welcoming (I love houses with a bit of history and character). The staff was friendly, helpful without being formal. The owner came out to greet our party of six and looked very well after us. We had the symphony of fish which consisted of turbot, salmon, seabass and hake served with a orange white wine sauce - all cooked to perfection. The starter were a medley of starters - all plates were almost licked clean. The desserts also were a medley and just a perfect ending to a perfect meal. I will be going again and again as I love the personal touch the owner and his staff are offering.

My family and I went here one Saturday evening a few weeks ago. There were four of us there. It is a great set up. The owner/proprietor was extremely attentive and the setting is quite intimate also so the whole experience was really personal. As I wasn’t sure what to have for a starter, the owner provided me with a combination of a few of the options which was a lovely touch! The food was really delicious, authentic-style French cuisine. As a non-red meat eater I tend to be quite fussy, but they had a good variety of fish also, of which I chose the sea bass. It was the nicest I have tasted in a while. Another thing that really impressed me was the sides which included ratatouille and a lovely potato dish. There is also a great wine list. Overall it was a lovely experience and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a truly gastronomic experience in an intimate setting.

Went Friday night last, hadn't been out in a while as we've a new baby..First time in Flemings but had heard alot about it, all really positive..We weren't in the least bit dissappointed. The experience was excellent on all counts.. The only explanation I can think of for the mixed reviews is that some people have limited experience of fine dining as it should be. The house was beautiful, old but charming, and a credit to the Flemings for maintaining its originality. The staff were experienced, knowledgeable, down to earth, and very friendly. The Proprietor and chef came to our table after we had ordered and said hello, nice touch.. The food was perfect. The scallop main was a real picture, cooked perfectly, very well presented, served on a champagne saice with caviar and a prawn mousseline.. Fillet steak top drawer, starters excellent. House red a very good tempranillo.. Have the Choc Fondant, takes 15 mins but really worth it. Flemings is unique also in the sense that the only people who cast their eye your direction are the staff, its a very private, but at the same time unpretentious establishment.. Only regret is that we didnt go sooner..

We visited here for a special occasion last night, the meal was exceptional, we were made feel very relaxed from start to finish. The service was commendable, friendly staff, very attentive. The house is beautiful, I would love to live there, lovely flowers, georgian features, candles, chandeliers, very romantic. The food was divine, the goats cheese in puff pastry starter is the nicest I have tasted. Steak cooked perfectly, gratin delicious, nice selection of cheeses and a melt in the mouth chocolate fondant desert. For fine dining the prices are what you would pay in any restuarant in Cork but a much higher standard.

Excellent. I was surprised to see some slightly mixed reviews for Flemings here. I was thoroughly impressed from start to finish. The dining room is beautiful. I see the point about the atmosphere being a bit low key - but that adds to the charm - It is a bit like dining in someones house. The owner is welcoming and entertaining. The food is excellent and mains of this quality priced between €12 and €19 represent great value. The wine list doesn't carry many cheap wines admittedly but the quality is high. We had three courses each and coffees, together with a €40 bottle of wine and the damage was still only €170 for four people. Can't recommend it highly enough.

My partner decided on New Years Night to book us in for the evening set menu of five courses, with a canape and champagne reception. 85 Euro The champagne was charged for at 10 euro a glass, with soft drink at 3 euro. The canapes were beautiful( although the prawn crackers were a little dubious) as was the meal, the stting was amazing but I could hear the conversation of our neighbour. A half decent bottle of house wine began at 27.50 which I think is a little ott. The menu came out quickly and we had been kept for a very long period of time eating canapes. I think that Flemmings is a lovely restaurant, but is far too overpriced, for a meal which was rushed and so not digested. If i had been given the time i could have continued eating into the beginning of 2009. I couldn't give a proper review because this was an organised evening, and so all time pressured. I don't know that i could rate an eening like this... Kind of disappointing.

We went to Flemings on Saturday night with very good friends. Flemings is one of my favourite restaurants and I was really looking forward to it. It was a really cold night and it was quite cold in the restaurant also. When we went in - we went into the little bar and had a drink while we waited for our friends. We were given menus to browse over as were our friends when they arrived. We ordered, finished our drinks and went into the dining room. The first thing that hit me was how quiet the dining room was. There were 18 people in the restaurant including our party of 4. I was then struck by the atmosphere - the last time I was there it was this time last year and the atmosphere was really festive - there was a pianist and it was really busy. Whereas on Saturday - it was cold (even though we were next to the fire) and as it was practically empty it lacked atmosphere. However what Flemings lacked in atmosphere was made up for (as always) with the food. My husband couldn't decide whether he wanted Fillet or Beef or Scallops and eventually decided on the Beef. When it arrived there was a scallop on top of the steak which I felt was a nice touch. Our food was amazing overall - I too had beef and our friends both had Venison which they said was lovely. Our starters were great too - One of our friends had crab and the other had Partridge (in a pear tree - actually in a pear sauce but thought I'd get the festivities going!) The dessert menu while on 1st glance didn't look great - when we actually ordered - the desserts were really nice and light. The cheese board was extensive and there was enough on it for 2. So all in all we had a lovely evening in Flemings. It's a pity it was quiet because it definately took from this lovely restaurant and if this had been my first visit I'm not sure I would be rushing back. But I spoke to the waitress on the way out who told me that 3 groups had cancelled that evening so that is why it was quiet. I'm looking forward to my next visit already.

Had a voucher for here so wanted to use it up. Was looking forward to it as heard a lot of positive reviews. On arrival they didn't have a record of the booking we made earlier that week. No problem anyway seeing as only 4 of the 5 tables were used during the night - total of 8 covers - don't know how they can survive at this rate. There was a cd player in the corner - which had terrible sound and stopped playing after 20 mins - which meant silence after that. There was NO atmosphere as a result as you could hear everything that anybody was saying. The food was good - with the duck cooked to perfection. After ordering dessert we could hear the dreaded microwave going off in the kitchen. Overall the food and service was good, but the atmosphere was non-existant. The place itself is quite dated at this stage and i fear will not outlive the downturn - unless they don't need the money,

After reading the reviews I was really looking forward to this meal. Should have known when arrived on Friday nite and we were the only people there. We started with foie gras and the crab pasta. Mine was ok but the pasta was terrible. No taste or bite at all. For the main I have scallops and my wife veal. The scallops were tastless and quite swivelled. Not cooked to bring out the sweetness at all. The veal was covered in sauce, tasteless and fatty. The salad was bitter and not fresh. There were carrots that were drowning in honey and could not be eaten. The other veg were way over cooked. The dessert was heated in the microwave to nuclear temps and tasted of garlic. About 1.5 hours into our meal three more punters arrived. There were elderly and I am guessing regulars. I am sure the food was prepared for them to gum as everything had a very soft and tastless consistency. The place was also quite run down and dusty. There was mould/stains on the curtains and lots of spider web around. I could not imagine us ever going back. Can not believe this place has a five star rating. Did meet one of the owners who was lovely and did not have the heart to tell her how bad it was. I can only hope they can improve things.

I was here recently and really enjoyed my evening. The food was beautifully fresh and presented. The staff were very friendly, highlighted by the fact that the Chef came out to introduce himself and make sure that all was well. The only quibble I would have is with the very bright lighting which blows away what would otherwise be a romantic atmosphere. Overall it still gets my full recommendation.

I ate here for valentines day and the meal was superb. I would definitely recommended Flemings as one of the best restaurants in Cork (if not Ireland). The staff and the atmosphere in the restaurant are second to none. I will definitely be back!
