My Finacè and I visited Amicus in preparation of a work event the following week. When we entered it took far longer than expected to be seated in a mostly empty restaurant. Following this wait our orders were taken swiftly and our food arrived promptly. The food was subpar with my fiancè being unable to eat her meal! The tagetalli was passable but not worth the money. nnThe biggest insult came when we went to pay and the waiter handed me the bill when my fiancè had her card out ready to pay, when she payed he returned the card to me which was very offensive. We were throughly dissapointed

- stopped here for coffee and cake - Table was covered in sticky liquid and cigerette ash - waitress brought menu out but did not clean table - on menu it stated to ask serving staff what the selection of freshly baked cakes and desserts were - asked waitress who said she would just get us a dessert menu - menu was brought but it contained the same information as previous menu - when I questioned what the cakes were, again, waitress squinted through window into restaurant and stated that she wasn't sure what they were but they are all in at the bar, i.e. telling us to go inside and check. - After taking a closer look at the specials board inside, it also stated here to ask the serving staff what the cakes/desserts were - I just ordered off the current menu as this was turning into a bit of a joke - we ordered a tiramisu and a chocolate brownie sundae with 2 coffees - my coffee arrived and half of it was in the saucer, the waitress didn't say a word, just dumped it on the table and walked off - the chocolate brownie was basically a brick. My spoon couldn't break through it as it was so hard - it was drowned in a gallon of cream, I assume this was done in the hope that it would soften the brownie sufficiently to make it edible. Needless to say, this failed - We sat there for about 20 minutes, trying to get the attention of servers passing us by, repeatedly - eventually one person came to clear our table and I advised that I wanted to send the brownie back as it was inedible - he seemed offended but said hesitantly that he would sort this out with the manager - 15/20 minutes went by and there was no sign of anyone, manager or other staff - eventually I got the attention of the same server and asked for the bill, which he went in to arrange - I could see the till area from where I was sitting and could see the manager and his 'bad attitude' expression when the waiter requested the bill. They had a nice chat at the till before the manager brought it out - I have never before experienced a manager bring a bill and not offering an apology and attempting to walk away until I asked, "did the staff fill you in on the situation" - Honestly, the manager's physical reaction made me afraid that he was going to verbally if not physically attack myself and my partner - I felt so uncomfortable explaining my experience, advising that we have been there on a number of occasions and liked it, but this time was terrible - The half hearted apology arrived and I wasn't charged for the brownie - The only reason that I have given 2 stars instead of 1, is because the tiramisu that arrived was nice. To sum up my experience of Amicus this time, poorly trained waiting staff in terms of waiting skills. Terrible attitudes and work ethic, but given that the manger acted as he did towards us, I am not surprised that this poor work ethic and bad attitude has trickled down through the other staff. No care given to the quality of food served, e.g. coffee spilled, not replaced, no apology, not cleaned up, 1 dessert was about a month old and so hard that it might require a visit to the dentist after eating it. Would strongly recommend against eating here until they sort out the standards in terms of cleanliness, staff and food.

Do not go here. Food was excellent. The service was appalling & I'm being polite saying that. Never have I dealt with such rude servers. I had a party of 10 & was mortified at how we were treated. We booked the table for 5:30, and when I booked it I was advised that the table had to be ready again for 7:30. I had no issue with this as we were going to a show in the Everyman at 7:30. Some of my party were late, and didn't arrive until almost 6. I can appreciate that this is an inconvenience but as I said we had to be at a show for 7:30 anyway. When we attempted to order, we were told not to have starters and mains as it would take too long and we would be better having just a main as we may miss the show. I can appreciate this. One started was bread and dips. So we decided to order some to share while waiting. The waitress was fuming. You could see it with the irritated expression. Bread and dips does not have to be cooked. This is why we decided to have it while waiting for our mains. I don't see how this should be an issue. We clearly explained that we were very happy to have bread and dips while waiting as it was a pretty simple and quick stater. She made it so uncomfortable. The mains came and The food was great. We had finished for 7:15, so we left before 7:30. Then we went to pay. I was the 1st to the till. The cashier scolded me and said very sharply that I had been told that they don't allow a party to pay individually. I was NEVER told this. I had rang 3 times changing the number of people coming and no one ever told me this. She continued to scold us and eventually gave in. I was mortified. It was so embarrassing, I could have cried and it ruined the rest of the night. Do NOT go here.

My partner and I went there for an evening meal. Despite having a booking for 8pm we were nearly 15 mins late being seated and were asked on 3 separate occasions by staff why we were sitting there waiting. After this rocky start things went uphill when we got our food. I got the Penne with Prawns which was superb to say the least and my partners dish was equally delicious. Staff were friendly and attentive. The place was full and quite buzzy so there was a good atmosphere to boot. Our departure was a bit underwhelming,I called out Thanks and goodnight and got a grunt back from the front of house guy. Excellent food and good value but they need to work on their greetings and their farewells.

My first time at Amicus last Friday, and although it was a crowded lunch time, we were seated straight away. We ordered our food, and asked how long we would be waiting, as we were on a bit of a deadline. Food arrived out but my order was wrong. Waiter apologised profusely, and went to get the correct dish. Time passed by, so I eventually told the next member of staff politely that I had to cancel my order as I had to leave, and this guy, I'm sorry I didn't get his name (he was working the till when it came to paying) was so wonderful, honestly, it was the nicest way Iv ever been treated in a restaurant, he couldn't have been more helpful. Said he couldn't let me leave hungry, offered to give me my lunch take away, but it couldn't, and he said if I gave him one minute, he would bring me something.. True to his word, he returned a minute later with my fajitas, and oh my, they were Devine. Best ones Iv had, flavour, presentation and price wise, for what it was, it really was brilliant. I only had a few minutes, so couldn't eat much, but it was fab. Had to leave, and when it came to paying, the nice member of staff guy gave me my lunch for free. Honest to god, I was so touched. He said to make sure now that we come back again, that the little mix up hadn't put us off. Now THAT is service. A lot of nearby restaurants should take note! I will definitely be returning there every time I'm in in the city for lunch, and am telling everyone about how great the food and service is there. That nice guy really is a huge asset to the place, and service like that would make anyone want to return.

I am a regular visitor to Amicus. Whether for a special occasion or just for lunch the service and food is always top quality. The value is great and the portion sizes are really big(especially the sandwiches). I would recommend Amicus to anyone. Kids are catered for too. The restaurant is spacious and while on the downside you may have to sit upstairs which if you aren't great at climbing stairs can be a nuisance, they would be happy to seat you downstairs if you request and don't mind waiting a few minutes.

What a great find for a Limerick Girl!!. Very well located just off Paul Street. We had our car parked in the Paul Street shopping mall and were lucky to find such a great restaurant. The service was excellent. We had no booking for lunch but once we entered the restaurant we were greeted by a lovely girl who showed us to a table on the top floor where you can see the chef's preparing the food. Both my sister and I had one of the special's that day which was fish cakes and they were fab. I loved the restaurant so much that the next time I went to Cork the following month shopping I took my partner there who is a chef himself for lunch. He was very impressed.

Amicus is a restaurant that is set in bustling Paul street in Cork.It has heated and covered outdoor seating, where many people like to sit and eat and indoor seating aswell.I would say venture here if you like familiar, homely food as it serves many favourites such as pizza, sandwiches, lasagne and many chicken and fish dishes.I found the service here average. The restaurant is extremely busy so this may have something to do with it.The food is tasty and nicely presented. The menu has something for everyone and items are reasonably priced.

this resturant is right in the city centre and easy to get to by bus or other transport. Even though it is in the city centre there is still a lovley atmosphere in the resturant, this resturant is very cosy and staff are really friedly and helpful. the food is really nice and not to badly priced eathier. when i was there me and my aunt had fish and chips with home made tarter sauce and mushy peas and everything was really delisous i must say. the only thing i do not like about the resturant is that the tables are very close together so it is hared to have a chat with who you are with . but all in all i would recommend you to go and taste the food you will not be disapointed.
