I am dining in The Plaza restaurant for years, i found the meals serving there is real treat for the taste budz. the price is affordable, the atmosphere inside is warm welcoming and staff is friendly and polite. the only thing i always notice is that tables and chairs need to be changed now after so many years of use. In recent customers review i viewed some remarks about staff, i must say the staff must be under pressure from bosses because i found everyone inside restaurant very polite and helpful, the poor lady might be frustrated somehow. Customer keep going. Bosses keep your place up-to-date.

I have only had two experiences with the plaza and on both occasions we availed of the "movie deal" (or at least we tried to avail of the movie deal on the second occasion). On our first visit, we hadn't booked and there was no problem, the waitress showed us to our seat and was very friendly. The menu choices were not great for the deal we chose however that didn't bother us. After our meal we innocently asked what was the procedure with payment with regards the movie deal ie. do we get our receipt stamped etc. The man that dealt with us (he may have been the manager was very abrupt and defensive, it was as if he thought we were going to leave without paying. On the second occasion my husband and I arrived, we hadn't booked either as it was a week night. When we told the waitress she went to get the same man again saying we had to book 24 hours in advance to avail of the movie deal. We explained that the previous week we didn't book and there didn't seem to be a problem...(the restaurant was very quiet, only two customers at the time). The same man came out to us very defensive again and very abrupt, it was as if he thought we were going to start trouble. My husband and I left the restaurant feeling quiet humiliated and embarrassed as the same man was falling over himself being so nice to the other 2 people, we were made feel like we were trouble makers. After these experiences the only 2 conclusions I can come up with is... 1) the man really does not like his job and is very abrupt.. or 2) the man is not a fan of the "movie deal" and makes people who avail of it feel inferior... The only reason we would return to this restaurant is for the convenience of the movie deal as we love the cinema and it is a great date night for us. However we certainly won't be returning for the customer service skills of this man....

Excellent value & extensive menu. Only flaw is while restaurant quiet (to be expected on a bank holiday Monday lunch time) the service was a bit too "over eager"

Grand for a quick bite and if you are heading to the cinema afterwards but the menu lacks imagination and the food is bland. On the plus side it is child friendly and in a handy location if shopping in ballincollig.Nothing special!

.I booked at short notice on New Year’s Day. The place was busy and had a good atmosphere with couples and families alike. The food is always good - I usually have the triple pasta and my wife usually have the pizza, this time we had the burgers which were great!! The children licked their plates. The staff was very good to us and the kids. great place to go, We will be going again

Greeting and smiles, On arrival and throughout our meal the staff were very polite, friendly and attentative. The food was absolutley delicious and cooked to how you asked. We had a table which was looking out on the big forecourt of cinema and shops which is nice. Would go back again and again. Price, as always they could do a little better. Overall, well worth the experience. Arrive hungry as there is a lot of food.

Plaza is a truly genuine pizza creater, even their pizzas are better than some american chains of pizza makers. Plaza has a lovely ambience, nice fresh table settings and lovely decor. The menu is excellent with a wide variety. Sunday we visited, I've eaten many times in the restaurant but would like to avail the fantastic take away service they have, which I have used on several occasions. Everything comes in separate compartments from the burger/steak to the lovely tossed salad with freshly chopped tomatoes and basil, so you don't have a soggy meal. You also get the genuine homecut chips! Their pizzas are divine, you've a choice of deep pan or thin crust with lovely ham, pepporoni and salami, all good real Irish produce. Prices are fantastic too, well worth a call for a take away and they have recently started up a free delivery service too.

How could the previous reviewers get it so wrong! Really, if you don't know what good food is, you shouldn't be writing glowing reviews about an establishment. Based on the recommendations on this website, I went with my extended family to this restaurant. It was, at best, mediocre. I ordered a fish based pasta, the pasta was overcooked and the sauce greasy. The starters, in general were greasy and lacking presentation - salad without dressing. As for the Pizza, my husband said that it was easily the worst he has ever tasted and being a pizza fan, that's saying a lot. Poor, poor, poor and very disappointing.

I had the pleasure to dine in Plaza Bistro recently. The staff were very welcoming and very patient as I have to pick and choose my food carefully as I can't eat dairy produce. The menu definitely catered for every palette. There was a great selection of fresh fish to choose from and I went for the COD - which was delicious, it was served with a very light garlic sauce which was on the side as I asked it to be. My husband and friends had the Lomon Sole, which looked divine. The meal came affordable including wine between 5 of us - no Service charges. which was great value. There was a very relaxed atmosphere and everyone seemed to be savouring the lingering sunshine that was outside and bringing in indoors. Overall - a very pleasant experience and I will definitely go back sooner rather than later, I am getting hungry thinking about it.

We have eaten in this restaurant for many years. We never once had a bad meal or bad service. New menu is introduced recently with added starters, main courses and desserts. Specials of the day is available on weekends. The thing that surprised me, they are delivering food too. Staff are great. Everyone is professional warm and happy. The size of the meal is fantastic, never left the restaurant feeling anything other than satisfied. They will cater for anyone, even fussy me who is not a great meat eater. Fantastic value for the center of ballincollig town, and wonderful anytime of year, even if run of their feet at say the races time, staff never get cross. well recommended over and over.
