My husband and I dined here on a recent visit to Ennis. We might not have visited this restaurant had it not been recommended to us. On looking at the menu it seemed somewhat heavy for our taste. But how wrong we were. Everything about this restaurant was first class, The seating was comfortable and the ambiance just right. The service was very friendly and attentive. But it was the food which really excelled. We shared a starter of Serrano ham & organic chicken terrine with leek, spiced pears & apricot gel which for €8 was generous enough for two and was absolutely delicious. My husband had the poached darne of salmon with grilled white asparagus, saffron, ginger & scallion veloute, while I had lemon & thyme roast breast of chicken with sweet potato purée, thyme & tomato jus. Both were very good and cooked just right. We shared sides of roast baby potatoes and steamed vegetables which came as a bonus as they were not mentioned on the menu. We finished by sharing a desert of bread and butter pudding with home made ice cream followed by two excellent americanos. We went home singing the chef's praises and will definitely be back!

The Cloisters is a well presented restaurant but given the prices I found the food to be average. Wine a bit too pricey.

This was a great place. We went as a group for lunch. great variety on the menu and everything tasted fab. We went at lunch time - service a small little bit slow - we were conscious of the time. plenty room for the group and there were others there also. Upstairs the restaurant looks fab. Had a quick peek. It definitely encouraged me to go back and do an early bird some night. Even after the group lunch we have inquired about having Christmas party there. Really nice and you won't go wrong. Good value too.

We opted for the early bird. Very good value at €19.95 for 4 courses. Sea bass to start very tasty followed by breast of chicken, which was also very tasty. Well cooked. Food was nicely presented and service was good. Desserts were nice as well. The special offer on the early bird gave ladies a free Mojito. We had to ask for ours and the waitress didn't know about the offer, but we were given the cocktail without any problem. The only downside was that the restaurant was quite cold, we didn't take our coats off until well into the meal. Other diners alos wore their coats. We asked for the heat to be turned up, and it took a while to feel the benefit. I would definitely come here again.

While in Ennis we visited Cloisters restaurant. The restaurant upstairs is decorated very nicely, it is worth going in just to see it. It was early when we went in so there was no problem getting a seat, but it did start filling up later. The service was top class. Early bird 4 courses was €22 and you got a bottle of wine for €5 if 2 of you had the 4 course early bird. The food was very tasty and we did not leave hungry. I will call again when I am in Ennis.
