I have been in this resturant a number of times in the past and have always had an issue with how they cook my steak. On this visit it was no different and I was once again disappointed my steak was not done to how I had requested it which is bleue. The resturant seems to be (going on my boyfriends meal and also past visits) of cooking a medium ir well done steak but after that they struggle Will not be returning

As the name suggests the steak is the thing to go for. It is without doubt the best steak around. I love the fresh fish specials they have on and really enjoyed my Hake. Our starters of black pudding and the salmon mayonaise where great, tastey without being too much. Finished off with Irish Coffees. Perfect place for a lovely night out together.

If you fancy a good fillet steak go here. It's good, no frills, just simple good food. Although it is expensive - so you'd be more inclined to go there as a treat rather than a regular.

been here lots of times and love the place. the food is always lovely, although last time found the lemon butter sauce not really quite enough to lift my salmon. just something missing, but lots of veg dishes on the side, you will never leave hungry. midweek special menu is good value as mentioned elswhere with a glass of wine/beer included in price of 21.50. usually a nice atmosphere even when its not busy, and as mentioned before, the head waiter could be a bit friendlier, although service is quick and attentive. we will continue to visit.

This is probably the best restaurant in Wicklow Town. The owner/maitre d' has been improving every facet of this eaterie over the years. Excellent value, superb food and a good. affordable wine list. Well worth a visit.

Went for a special family meal. Hard to get a good meal in Wicklow mid week but this was recomended to us. We had heared staff could be unfriendly but we had excellent service, almost with a smile. Had early bird special and food was very good, plentiful, and very good value. Men appreciated beer included in cost, usually just glass of wine. Tables were a bit close together and 5 of us were sitting at a table usually meant for 4 so a bit crowded. Will probably eat there again.

Went here for the mid week early bird which was excellent, had the soup and steak, both were delicious and huge portions. The deserts were all amazing and great value.. All this, including a glass or wine or beer for €21.50 per head! The restaurnat was busy which is great to see on a weeknight with a really good atmosphere, will definately be back!

Myself and a party of 5 girls booked the Square Steakhouse looking forward to a tasty meal. This was not the case. The proprietor was unfriendly and never smiled once throughout our 2 hour visit. He offered to take our coats when we arrived but lost interest after taking the first 2 from our group. He showed as little interest when we were leaving and we had to retrieve our own coats... There was also a waitress who seemed to resent the whole waiting experience and had a long face throughout the meal. The food was just ok. The sauces were tasteless with no hint of cream in their pepper "cream" sauce. The chicken piri piri and was the only thing drier than the appalling service. The cheese board was average and lacking basic fare such as crackers and grapes. Another group arrived before we finished our meal and staff loudly stated that we were “nearly finished” for our benefit and rushed us out. It should also be noted that we booked before through this website and never received a response, nor could we leave a message or get an answer when we followed up our booking with a phone call... Disappointed.

Excellent, reliable restaurant. Lovely atmosphere and food, particularly if you stick to the steaks, is very good. Plenty of sides - more than enough of everything. Service is very attentive. Value for money is only marred by the desserts which are ridiculously tiny.

I'd never been to this place, though I'd lived in Wicklow almost all my life. Just the wrong end of the town, but I had been looking forward to trying it. We were a large group and we all ordered fillet steaks, cooked in different ways. To their credit, they got everyone's right, and they were very efficient. The only problem was the steak! The meat was bland, didn't have a great flavour and the vegetables were simple steamed/boiled veg. Great service, decent value but could do better with the produce I think. I've had some fantastic steaks in unlikely places but for a steakhouse not to have great steaks..well..need I say more?

Have eaten here twice in the last two weeks and the main reason we returned was simply the quality and value. The midweek menu is hard to beat on both counts. The restaurant was busy both evenings and really deserves to be. It certainly is well ahead of the local competition if you are looking for a tasty meal in pleasant surroundings without breaking the bank and for something a bit more special the a la carte is always top class.

Ate her last week with two friends. The meals were excellent all round, freshly and well cooked steaks and vegetables, nothing fancy. The service was much more agreeable that my previous experience when I thought it was very rude, abrupt and quite off putting. However, decided to give it a second chance and was pleasantly surprised. One of the better restaurants in Wicklow town.

This is a little gem of a restaurant for casual/no fuss dining. The owner has worked extremely hard to make this restaurant what it is. Food of excellent quality, and they also have a very good early bird menu. Well worth trying.

This restaurant continues to delight me and then the next time disappoint me. I am not paranoid in thinking this but I have come to the conclusion after 20 visits to it that you only get a good quality fillet steak, cooked to the way you want it, if you go in with a crowd i.e. more than 2 people. I have been in here 10 or more times with only 2 people and I always get a poor chewy steak that is usually over-done. On the other hand, I have been here numerous times with a big bunch of people and have got the most beautiful steak imagineable. Its so frustrating!!!! The prawns in filo pastry for starter is always beautiful though...

Was here on Saturday night (as well as numerous other times), best steak in Wicklow. Menu does not change much. None of the starters appealed but steak more than made up for it. Yum.
