We ate here Saturday night. One of the best things about this restaurant is the view over Blessington Lakes. The food was good and great value at €24.95 for two courses, €29.95 for three courses, including amuse bouche, bread, sorbet between courses. A good variety of options for meat eaters only one pasta choice for vegetarians. Vegetables are provided with your meal for no extra charge. For starter we had tempura prawns which were pleasant. Mains, Sea Bass - huge portion, served on risotto and with a side of vegetables. The other main course was a vegetarian canneloni, it was okay - a very large portion, too large but the sauce was very good as were the mushrooms it was served with. A side salad came too. Ice cream for dessert, there was a good selection of other desserts to choose from. Coffee was really good. Two glasses of wine and the bill was a little over €60 - not bad for all of that!

Myself & my husband ate here last night. We didn't have a booking but we were seated straight away. Our waitress was very attentive & friendly. We had an amuse bouche of Red pepper & aubergine soup which was very tasty. For starters I had Chicken Parfait which was delicious - creamy, smooth & really lovely spread on the warm toast. We then had a lemon sorbet. For mains I had the herb crusted Lamb which was melt in the mouth gorgeous. Really fab. The mash was smooth, the veg crunchy & warm. My husband had the steak which was cooked to perfection - medium. For dessert we had two hot fudge cakes - gorgeous. The restaurant did fill up a little & the waitresses were very busy but handled it all with calm & poise. It was a really gorgeous meal & we both can't wait to go back. Our meal was fabulous value at 34 euro a head! Really great value. Thanks alot.

I 've eaten here a couple of times and it's not too bad, portions are decent so you'll be full. One thing i did have a gripe about was the duck liver pate,it was served with a piece of what was basically cold toast, not nice crispy melba bread or toast, really took from the dish and have to womder about a chef who put it there. Genrally good value, overall i'd go back

Food was really excellent (props to the chef!), as was the view (if you get a table with a view that is, only a few tables have a view out over the lakes & mountains). The decor is a bit cheesey though, and the service lacked warmth & friendliness a bit. Value was superb, as you could have a three course meal for two plus a bottle of wine for €70 on a Friday night, and only €60 on a Thursday. And we not only got three courses, but also an "amuse bouche" to start with and a sorbet between starter and main course.

Again, I was staying in Avon Rí when I dined in Il Lago with my family. We were a bit disappointed when we discovered it only opened Wed- Sun, as we arrivered on Sun and it was our only opportunity to dine there. The setting is magnificent against the lake, and I was also really impresssed with the decor of the restaurant itself. We had a lovely table overlooking the lake. The staff were very helpful and accamodating as my brother has an egg allergy, and we had no problems, and were served promtly. We were all delighted with our food, chicken, beef, sea bass, roast pork, it was all delicious. Portions were quite big also. I especially enjoyed my pecan pie. By all reports the bar was just as nice. We were pleasantly surprised by the restaurant.

Have Dined here 3 times within the past 9 months. Good atmostphere when its full. Food and value are excellent especially when you go for the dinner for two deals with a bottle of wine. portions sizes are quite large and are struggling to finish the desert. Service is very good and Staff are very friendly and are open to a chat. Never felt rushed can stay there as long as you wish, ( even when well finished your food!!).

I visited Il Lago while staying over in the Avon Ri hotel over valentines weekend. I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. The food and service are top quality. I had the crab cake to start and the roast duck for the main course. Both delicious and well presented. Portion sizes are just right. The service is very friendly and efficient. I would have no hesitation in returning in the furure

Lovely views, great food and very friendly local staff. The place is well worth a visit. The bar food is also lovely and quite reasonable. If your in Dublin and have a dd, take a trip out its only 20 mins.

The last time I visited the Il Lago Restaurant it was for lunch some time ago and I was able to write a favourable report for Menupages. This time we arranged for a party of four for dinner in the evening and I am glad to be able again to write with some enthusiasm about this place. We requested and got a table by the window, which looks out on to a superb view of the Blessington Lakes. First impressions on being given the menu was how very keenly priced the food was. At €22 for two courses and €26 for three it was extraordinarily good value for a meal in such beautiful surroundings. And the food was good to match. We had crab cake and salmon and shrimp, all top quality, generous helpings and attractively presented. Guinea fowl and lion of pork and of gammon were equally good. We particularly liked the lion (sic)! The only criticism I can make was about the wine list. There were only two wines, one white and the other red, priced at €23.50. From there on the prices soared rapidly. Every restaurant should have a few decent house wines for about €20. This apart, we can really recommend the Il Lago. Friendly and efficient service added to the pleasure we had in a great evening.

This resort is absolutely amazing .The food is fabulous and the service is excellent. As soon as you walk in your greeted by friendly faces .I live near Blessingtion and I must say that this would be my number one place to go for a meal as there is no were near that serves quality of food they do. The best thing is that they serve food 7 days a week and they stay open until 9pm every day so if your late in the door and you don’t want to cook you can just pop down there .Also if you and a couple of friends are having a get together they have the houses that sleep six people. one of the receptionists were kind enough to show me one of these houses and there gorges. I would move in tomorrow if I could there also very spacious and sleep up to six people but I don’t really know the cost. Over all I have to recommend trying this resort and Restaurant.

I was here with a large party (about 15) a couple of weeks ago. The atmosphere was pleasant and I did not really notice anything particularly bad about the service but the food was pretty disappointing and its pretty expensive. I had a steak which was literally as tough as boots! It is overpriced and I would not recommend it although I am not sure there is anywhere else in Blessington to dine so perhaps you get stuck there simply from lack of choice? (I am not familiar with the area so I am not sure of the accuracy of this last statement)

Very disappointed, went with my family for a special occasion. The menu was very impressive if not a little expensive, and made me feel i was in a top Dublin restaurant. The decor is lovely and there are nice views over the lake. Unfortunetly the service was terrible, our drinks arrived after our starters having asked for them more than once, it was not even busy. Staff did not seem to have any training or idea what was going on around them. I felt sorry for them as people were annoyed. One man complained and the chef came out to him with a very aggressive manor, unbelievable!! the food was ok when it did arrive but, our experience there was marred with disappointment.

Quality and Presentation of all courses was excellent. Service through the whole meal was more than poor & disappointing and spoiled the dinner e.g. Orders were taken for food but no drink orders taken until we had to ask for drinks a while later, wine bottles opened and just left on the table (not even tasted/poured) soup starters were served without spoons, main course served but we had to ask again for the potatoes & veg which were to come with it and when we did get them they were left on the table without any e.g. cutlery to take up the veg & potato -so we had to ask for that again- the only side order didn't come until asked for and meal was nearly finished. Dessert was fine except the cappuccinos were lukewarm and even milkier than a very milky latté. We did get an apology from head waitress as they were so busy as Xmas function on upstairs and so on but the restaurant we were in wasn't even half full at that stage. The least she could have done is offer a complimentary drink I feel sorry for the chef as he did an excellent job but the whole goodness out of the meal was spoiled through a very poor service.
