We had to wait nearly 30 mins b4 somebody took our order,bummer..my hubby had prawn ceasar salad with little bits of fish going through it..the salad was lovely and crispy...i had curry and coriander soup with bread..the soup was nice but it so tasted like a curry that needed chicken..for mains i had fish and chips..the fish was cut into finger pieces, ive had better and i hate huge chips with skin as they taste like wedges..my hubby had sirloin steak..have to say it was the tastiest sirloin ive ever tasted and v soft..normally he would have a fillet as its the best but the steak was pricey so we knew it shud b good, and it was the best..for dessert he had an apple and blackberry pudding,v nice..i had exoctic meringue,v suggary, and sweet..id recommened this place

Stayed here on Saturday night and ate in the Sugar Loaf. The menu is small but interesting. I had the Fois Gras followed by the Lamb. The Fois Gras was a bit bland but the texture was good. The Lamb was cooked perfectly on a bed of Mushroom Fricasse. The service was excellent also. My two complaints however. The list of wine by the glass is too short in a restaurant with such an extensive wine list otherwise. Secondly it is overpriced for what is basically a lobby restaurant. The fountain in the garden cannot take from the fact that you are within eyesight of the main hotel door. €5 for an espresso is a good example. This is unjustifiable in any restaurant.

We had a table booked for 12 people for a special occassion. Although most of the staff were friendly, it was hard to get their attention and the service was very slow. For a hotel of that reputation, we felt the food did not match expectations and many items never came to the table!
