LOVE this place. Went on sat night after reading reviews on menu pages. Was staying in the Ferrcarrig for the weekend but wanted to get out of the hotel for a night. It is brilliant. Casual enough inside but the food was amazing. I will definitely be recommending it to anyone I know visiting wexford. I had the duck and mango salad to start … gorgeous, but big enough to be a main course. (I wasn’t complaining!). Then out landed my main course, could have done with more time before this landed, Surf and Turf. It was just too much food. I shared as much as I could and still couldn’t finish it, I’ve been to Argentina where steaks are served big, and this was well up there! But I did keep thinking I should bring my dad here, he would love it. We stayed for ages, had two bottles (between two of us)! And the atmosphere was great. I did get a fright at one stage, about 15 girls walked in with a ‘bride to be’ sash leading the parade, but they didn’t take over the restaurant or take from the general mood, thankfully. Looking forward to my next night in wexford to go back.

From the front of the restaurant it looks like a small cafe but at night time you enter through the court yard on Georges Street (left turn after the front door) and everything changes... there was a set menu of €25 pp for a 4 course meal but you can order from the main menu if you wish. I ordered Mushroom Risotto for starters and my mother ordered Soup of the day which was Pumpkin and Coriander both were gorgeous and big portions. Mains mum had the Steak which came with home made steak chips and side salad, I had Linguine (gorgeous but wrong thing to order on my part having had Risotto already very filling). A portion of stir friend vegetables also came with our meals. For dessert we had Iced Raspberry and white chocolate parfait this was devine (even full I still managed to eat every bit) The staff were fantastic polite and a credit to the restaurant. I will be recommending it to friends who are visiting Whites Hotel next weekend and to anyone else who will listen... a must do for dinner when in Wexford Town!

Passing through Wexford town over the weekend, we had heard about the Yard restaurant from friends so I rang ahead and made a booking. Luckily I did as we were told a table would not be available without booking in advance. There was a set price of €25 for a four course meal which had plenty of variety in each course. Portion sizes were very good and we were all very pleased with how the food was presented and also that it tasted delicious. The house wine was very reasonably priced too and again was to our liking. If you are planning to stay in Wexford or indeed will be passing through the town soon, book ahead for the Yard restaurant and you will not be disappointed, highly recommend.

We were in Wexford town for the weekend and heard from friends that we should visit the Yard restaurant which was situated very close to where we were staying. The restaurant was very busy when we arrived on Friday evening at 8 o'clock and as we had not made a reservation we had to wait for about 45 mins. We put in the time in a local bar having a pint or two. On return our table was ready and we were seated very comfortably and had enough space for our party. There was a four course meal for €25 which was delicious from starter to coffee, all of which was served by very friendly staff. Portion size was very good. We chose the house red which was also reasonably priced. If we return to this area I would certainly eat at this restaurant again, highly recommended.

I recently enjoyed lunch at The Yard, with a friend who was visiting from Dublin. We were fortunate; the weather was good, so we sat outside under the shade of a tree. The first thing that impressed me was the size of the tables. There was plenty of elbow room which in turn allowed us privacy despite the fact that all the other tables were occupied. Don’t be under any illusion, it is a small courtyard. My friend ordered the soup of the day, which was homemade mushroom soup. He professed not to be hungry, but he finished his soup and the accompanying bread. I thoroughly enjoyed The Yard’s “Warm Cajun Chicken Caesar” salad. What impressed me most was that there was loads of the delicious sauce. I hate a miserable scattering of sauce over a Caesar salad, and usually I have to request more. I had hoped to indulge in their dessert menu, which is yummy. However, the salad, which is very generous with chicken, completely filled me. Instead I indulged in a second glass of their very palatable house white wine. I wasn’t paying the bill, but re-checking their prices on their website, it was definite a great value for money lunch.

Visited this popular and lively Wexford evening dining spot on a busy Saturday in August. There are generally two sittings so we opted for the 8.30pm slot. Very nice table and interior, good lively atmosphere prob not a venue for peace and quiet or first date! We had two main courses and two desserts. All the options on the menu are very reasonably priced and the service was extremely friendly throughout. My girlfriend had a really nice dish of monkfish wrapped in ham on a bed of risotto. I didn’t score as well with the Slaney rump of lamp on a bed of Garlic Roasties and ratatouille. The Ratatouille was stone cold, and the potatoes were basic enough. Lamb and the sauce were very tasty. Accompanying chips and veg were delicious. For desserts we had a strawberry sundae and a chocolate cake with cola flavour. Both very nice except the cake was massive and the strawberry dessert very small so a bit disproportionate. Other than that nice restaurant just a few glitches with the food. Good mix of couples and groups as diners as well and enjoys a central location.

Went here with my girlfriend for the earlybird menu. We had the wild mushroom Risotto and the Bruschetta for starters, then we both had the chicken for mains. All dishes were excellant. The main thing about this restaurant is that the staff were very nice & the service was great. Along with a classy decor and genuine antiques littered throughout, it would be hard not to enjoy the atmosphere. We will not only be recommending The Yard to our friends, we will also definitely be returning. Thumbs up!

Good meal, good atmosphere and reasonable prices. Overall how there are a few small things they could look at. The starter of scallops and pork belly in a fusion dressing didn't need the pork. The idea of saltiness with sweet scallops and a citrus dressing is a good one it just needs a bit of tweaking. The main of lamp cutlets was a very generous portion but the mashed potato while well made was far too salty. My partner enjoyed her steak (the pepper sauce didn't arrive) and also enjoyed her starter. The restaurant was buzzing and the service was friendly and flexible. It is one of the best places to eat out in Wexford.

This is one of the best restaurants I ever ate in! The atmosphere was cosy and romantic and we were asked where we wanted to sit. We chose the thursday special 4 course meal for €25 per person. Really good price considering that the portions are really big. Had I known, I would have chosen not to eat a starter. All courses were aboslutely georgeous, cooked to perfection. The staff were really nice and paid attention to every detail. I highly recommend this place! There's absolutely nothing negative to say about this restaurant. I will come back and eat here again as soon as I can!!!!

What a lovely restaurant, really top notch food and the service was excellent; setting was very romantic with the lovely lights. Booked a table for the early menu so when we arrived the restaurant was very quite and lacked a bit of atmosphere but soon livened up. All round excellent restaurants that we took a chance on, not knowing anything about it, so were really pleased. Great early bird, looking forward to trying their Ala Carte. I will be back.

What an exceptional meal for my birthday celebrations. I chose both chef specials:Thai Fish Cakes to start which were served with Asian Slaw (absolutely amazing) - I want the receipe! My main was the Tempura of John Dory served with Basil Ratouille and Butternut Squash mash. My companion had the Scallops with Black Pudding and for main, the Surf and Turf (beware of portion size here, absolutely massive). In hindsight, he wouldn't have ordered a starter. No complaints at all. The place was buzzing as it was still Opera Festival time - however we couldn't fault the service. It was prompt and efficient. For smokers, there's a really nice beer garden, which on a fine day I'd say is a place to hide away in with a nice bottle or 2! My first dinner in Wexford, and to top it all, I found this place on Menupages!

Visited the Yard on Monday night for their very good value all night set menu. We stood at the door for a few minutes as a waitress checked and rewrote a docket without acknowledging us at all. The manager then came over and greeted us warmly, seating us at a wonderfully large old table. The menu was good - covering the basics of a set menu. Two of us chose chicken and bacon caesar salad which was tasty tho unremarkable. Then for our mains (which arrived only 1 minute after our starters were cleared) we all chose the 8oz sirloin steak. I had ordered mine rare and it came out medium rare which is forgiveable but the meat was rather dry and tasteless. The chocolate cola cake was a delicious desert and we were very happy until we went to look for our bill. Three out of the four tables in the restaurant ended up going up to the bar to try and pay. The manager had gone home at this stage and I'm sorry to say that the half hour wait did somewhat spoil our impression of this restaurant.

Delighted to find this place late on a Friday night. The restaurant was pretty full but the way the tables were postioned was perfect so that you're not sitting on top of eachother. Atmosphere was great with all sorts of groups and couples spread around the room. The food was very good but not amazing. I had the shredded duck which was lovely with the pickled ginger but the mango was a bit of a strange accompaniment. My wife had a prawn and scallop starter which was cooked perfectly but came with a big lump of mashed potato which was unusual in a starter. My steak was cooked very well and my wife had the thai mussels but we didn't think that was a nice combination. The service was excellent and the meal was very good value for what we got.

I visited the Yard as part of a large group of girls on a Hen weekend. Our meal was part of a package that included accommodation and nightclub entry. I wasn't expecting much choice of menu because it was part of a deal, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the huge choice available for such great value. I had the duck starter which was so delicious, followed by baked cod, again absolutely gorgeous, all topped off with a sinful dessert of nougat parfait. All of the girls in the group loved the food and the service was superb, our waiter was a sweetheart! I will definitely return and recommend the yard to all of my friends and family!

Myself & my husband took my mum here for a vbelated Mothers' Day meal. I had the duck salad for starters, mum had prawns and himself hard warm ceasar salad. Yum all round, I didn't know which plate I wanted to eat off the most. For mains we ordered the special which had monk fish and womething... ; Vension and the pasta dish, again spoiled for choice! Each dish was tastier than the next, ooozing with flavours and everything was so tender. And of course, dessert just had to be had. Great value meal for 3 with a bottle of wine and 3 cokes, defo go back herer again.

Stumbled across the yard on a wet n windy february evening, 3 courses for 25, would it be worth it ???,,,,...absolutley. Friendly and relaxed welcoming staff, nice atmosphere, beautiful food served in portions you dont normally find with this class of cuisine . Starter tingled our tastebuds, and the main of steak frites was the finest steak we have eaten in many a year. Absolutely divine, only problem was could not finish it all and it hurt me to leave food this good. Desert was outstanding and thankfully light. Wine list good. Overall, we both left singing the praises of the Yard, refreshed, and glad that we battled the weather to find it. Will return the next time we visit Wexford.

Its hard to get a good restaurant you like. Good food, good Atmostphere and service. The yard is nearly there. Got a great starters, it was yummy. The main course wasnt as nice mainly because i got something which i was unsure about. Dessert and the rest was good. Nice place to go, and i would have no problem recommending this restaurant. And unlike The restaurant was warm and cosy, the way it shud be.

Myself and my wife eat here a few days ago. The restaurant was comfortable, the atmosphere was good and the service was good as well. The wine selection was good and the one we chose - a Riesling - was delicious. The food however was a mixed bag. My foie gras starter was bland, although the portion was large. My main course - the special - was sea bass. It wasn't clear to me from the description but it had chinese flavours and the veg (or stir fry really) which came with it was also chinese tasting, and not nice. My wife got lamb cutlets which were grand. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and had an OK meal. One final thing, and this is not just at this place, but restauants are very expensive here in Wexford. I thoguh I left Dublin prices behind!

Very dissapointed. This was my second time back to the yard, having come down from dublin the food was so good on my first viist. I know a different chef was on on sat but the food was appauling. We both had the fillet, both were burned to a crisp and dry. we asked for them to be medium. Our starters, mushroom rissoto and tandoori prawns were nice but that was it. The side salad with the steakd was horrible, the chips were cold. The side of veg we ordered were stir fried. like something from a take away. Why would you serve stir fried veg with steak???? Mash was also cold. Service is flawless which i am sure is why people keep coming back, cause it couldn't be for the food

Restaurant with a cheap decor and an overpriced food. You could describe dishes as a "a bit of everything on the plate" Poor selection of wines. I'm very surprised that they call themselves on their website: "best restaurant in Wexford"... unless they compete with fast food outlets... Listen, lads: even Carlsberg doesn't call their's beer "best" but only "probably the best". Good luck to You!

My wife and I ate here on a quiet Monday evening but were delighted with the warm welcome from our waitress. The restaurant has a real french atmosphere about it and reminded of a Cafe in Edinburgh. The starters were mussels in a red thai coconut sauce and a warm duck caesar salad which were absolutely delightful. Our choice of mains consisted of rack of lamb and sirloin steak. The lamb was the most tender I have ever tasted and the sirloin was top quality complete with it's bearnaise sauce. Would I recommend this restaurant? Yes Yes Yes!

Friendly and accurate service and few lights in the room creating an ideal atmosphere for a relaxing dinner for 2. The open kitchen is a plus firstly because as passionate I enjoyed watch chefs working and then because they can prove their cleanliness to customers. Nice starter very unusual and balanced. Only a bit too complicated. Sea bass was grand, light cooked with a very good exaltation of the slightly flavour of the fish, a way to cook the fish that we Italian particularly love. Also the mash potato with lemon grass is a nice idea. The only disappointing was the wine list that is too unbalanced in favour of New World wines. France and Italy are the 2 ancient, bigger and finest countries about wine and they deserve their part on the list. Sangiovese is a wonderful Italian grape and the one on the list come from....Australia!?! Sigh. 40 Euro each for that dinner is not a great deal. I'll come back for sure next weekend we'll have in Wexford. P.S.: the menu on this website looks not up to date.

Dined as part of a large group, the service was top class without making anything seem rushed and we all received our courses at the same time. The rissotto is delicious, creamy and light, marinated pork was also lovely but why stir fried veg with main courses that were not oriential based? they were lovely veg but the soya sauce overpowered everything else on the plate and a bowel of potatoes would have been a welcome addition to the main course I felt. It was an enjoyable meal but not enough to make me return if I were choosing the venue.

I mainly find myself going back to The Yard because of its ambience -tables are well spaced & the staff are very friendly & effcient. The wine selection is good & the lunch menu is designed to cater for all palettes; this is a must if you are organising work lunch! The tempura of Cod with pea & garlic mash is heavenly -although the portion is large for a work-day lunch. There are no "dietary" warnings on the menu, but if you speak to the waiting staff prior to orderning they can always accommodate. I personally feel that he lunch menu is over priced, but for good food & comfortable dining; I still return...

This Restaurant is typical of far too many in Ireland, plain bad value for money. Many of the dishes are poorly conceived and poorly executed. In particular we found our chosen dishes overcomplicated and with too many competing flavours. The Prawns Terriyaki were typical, overpowering flavour, shriveled up prawns...a disaster ! The service and ambiance, however, could not be faulted. Our bill for 2 came to €160 and frankly I felt cheated. Not somewhere I would want to revisit or recommend to others.

Cant say enough about the place. Was seated at a nice window table by a friendly waitress. The place was buzzing at around 9. Plenty of choice on the menu. The service was efficient without being over attentive. The meal itself came out well presented and tasted even better. Great value for money. A truly great casual dining experience.

Great service, but dear oh dear, the portions are tiny and depending on who is working the kitchen, tastless. Also serve stir fried veg with your main meals. Why do so many restaurants in Wexford do this generic thing? A real cop out when you are spending euro 24 on a main course. There is a whole county full of fresh garden vegetables! Been there twice now, but won't be going back in a hurry.

This was my second visit to The Yard, decided to give it another chance as my first visit was not good, which was for brunch on a Sunday & I thought the menu was awful. Fortunately.... my second visit was much better which was for lunch on a weekday. It was gorgeous, very tasty & very well presented. Really good, friendly service, would definitely recommend it.

I was in Wexford for the weekend with my husband & parents, a lovely taxi man recommended the Yard & even called & booked it for us. We arrived at 7.30 and were seated immediately at a nice big table. Bread & water arrived at our table with 4 menus. The waiter was lovely very friendly as were all the staff. The food was excellent as was the wine. The atmosphere was very relaxing, around 8.30 it got quite busy. The staff still remained efficient & friendly. We were not rushed off the table even though there were people arriving without a booking. We had a lovely dessert, nice coffees & left at 9.45. Would recommend The Yard & would definitely be eating there the next time we go to Wexford. Was reasonably priced as well.

Met a friend there for breakfast a few months after it opened and after all the hype I had heard about the place was left very disappointed; the decor is just hideous absolutely filthy it was like an old school canteen done up with a few old chairs scattered randomly around the place. Besides that there was absolutely nothing on the lunch menu I would have eaten and I am not particularly fussy quite adventurous with my food so had to have a cup of cold cappuccino instead. Was starving and ended up going somewhere else for breakfast so I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

A nice addition to the food scene in Wexford. A young kitchen brigade producing good food. The menu is for everyone, the Thai chicken curry was very nice indeed. My companion went for a med salad which she was impressed with. Overall a good lunch.
