My Wife and I went to Corkscrew on Saturday night, great buzz in the place. I had the wild field mushrooms as a starter and they were fab. For mains I had Guinea Fowl on a bed of mash with mushroom jus and my wife had Pork Medallions with Chorizo on a bed of sweet potato, these came with a great selection of veg and garlic potatoes. For Desert we shared a beautiful raspberry and coconut tart. I have to say the food was fantastic as was the service. The meal was great value for money, overall a great night.

It was another return visit to The Corkscrew and once again we were not disappointed. My fellow diners had the 6oz Minute Steak, Beef Lasagne and I opted for the Thai Chicken Curry which was delicious, tasty, well presented and plenty of it. My fellow dinners were impressed with their choices as well. We all had deserts, Lemon Meringue Pie and my favourite Tiramasiu. All delicious and nicely presented. We finished off our lovely meal with Teas and Coffees. Service was excellent and in fact the owner / manager remembered us from our previous visits. All in all a lovely dining experience again. So if you are visiting area or passing through its worth stopping for lunch here. Looking forward to our next visit at Easter.

Modern, warm environment and a great welcome. Efficient and cheerful service. Surf and turf was tender and tasty. Salmon w/ cous cous crust was great also - portions and value generous.

It has take me sometime to write this but I feel it would be an injustice not to tell people about this restaurant. I was visiting Gorey for a family wedding recently. There was 4 adults and 3 children and on walking around the lovely town we looked for somewhere to eat that was going to fulfill our hunger so we could return to the hotel to prepare for the wedding the next day. Looking at Corkscrew menu and indeed the fantastic early bird menu we had no hesitation in choosing this restaurant. My Husband went in first to see if it was ok to bring children in as they are quite young and without hesitation the owner returned with my husband to the door and welcomed all to a beautiful seating area. The Food, Athmosphere and most of all attention to detail and service was just amazing. The staff were obviously well trained on how to accommodate children food wise with nothing being to difficult to prepare. Also a lovely touch was each child got crayons, colouring page and a little treat whilst there. The early bird is amazing and on having a sneak look at the a la carte menue it too looks mouth watering. After the wedding on Sunday we decided before setting off on our journey home to have lunch. There was a slightly larger party and again we were well accommodated. The owner remembered us and we again were made feel very welcome. sunday lunch was again very good value and very tasty. This is a restaurant I would highly recommend and will hopefully get to visit again before end of year. Certainly value for money and amazing food.

As promised I visited Corkscrew with my Husband, Son and two friends on Saturday last. Once again the food was second to know. My Husband absolutely loved the medley of fish as did my son, but my classic was the Surf and Turf. My friends are from Enniscorthy and it was their first time visiting and like my first experience could not get over the great buzz. The staff are just amazing and despite the busy night they were obviously having we never felt at any time rushed or neglected. The athmosphere is just wonderful and we sat on the couches after our meal and enjoyed another glass of your fine wine. Thank you for the wonderful evening and continued success your doing a great job. I will be back !!!!

Dined here on 2 occassions recently, would highly recommend... Highlights were the seafood chowder (a meal in itself), scampi (homemade-not frozen) & very good fillet steak. Packed both times we visited with a warm relaxed atmosphere, staff very friendly & professional, definitely worth a visit!

We visited this restaurant by recommendation, but were extremely dissapointed, the atmosphere and staff were very good but poor food quality even when it is keenly priced does not amount to a nice experience on this occasion but will try again as it is a nice place to visit. They do have good wine and well priced

Myself and my Partner went to the Corkscrew Restaurant on Valentines Night. We were shown to a lovely table upstairs. The decor is lovely and the atmosphere is great! I am a vegetarian and the Corkscrew have a great choice for vegetarians. Both myself and my partner really enjoyed our generous starters. For my main course I had vegetarian fajitas. The food is so tasty, just bursting with flavour. My partner had a 12 oz Steak with salad and chips. He said its the best steak he has ever had. The staff are really friendly and they came over on numerous occasions to make sure that our food was to our liking and that we were ok for drinks. The service was very quick and efficient. I really enjoyed dining at the Corkscrew. The atmosphere was so relaxed. The food is out of this world. Great value for money and a great service all in all.I really couldnt fault anything! I will be telling all my friends to dine here. When I was leaving I was given a beautiful red rose which was a lovely surprise.

I visit Corkscrew quite regularly and I every time I enjoy the food and the service very much. The atmosphere is relaxed and very friendly and encourages you to stay and enjoy the food longer than you intend. Food is always of great quality and taste. The presentation of the food is also impressive. Highly recommended place for anybody who loves fine food served in great atmosphere.

I visit Gorey quite regularly for the shopping and have to admit very rarely go anywhere to eat except my favourite place. However, I was staying with friends for the weekend and four of us ate in Corkscrew on strong recommendations. I was entriged and wanted to see what it had to offer. I have to say from eating in very fine restaurants in Dublin and abroad I was bowled over by the class of food, the style to which it was presented and the wine listing. Can not believe that I had not eaten here before. Excellent value for money and despite the busy evening the food was presented with great service and style. The staff were very friendly and chatty which is unusual in many restaurants today. We ate the food with the same enthusism that it was presented to us from the waitress to the presentation on the plate. Also I might add that homemade desserts are a must rum and coconut cheesecake divine. Thank you for a wonderful evening of fine food and wine - I will be returning!

Six of us had lunch on Tuesday 13th as we do every so often. The lunch menu is extensive and there are always specials - I am into salads at the moment so I had the indian chicken salad which was on the specials menu and it was really tasty - two of the others had their favourite steak sandwich - another had the goats cheese bruchetta and loved it - and the final and fussy person had the chicken pesto pannani which to our delight she loved! The service is fast and efficeint just what we want for a lunch hour. I was delighted to see they are now doing take away soups, curry and the lovely home made jam that we have just finished a jar of. I am looking forward to getting some of the salad dressing!

We had our wedding reception here on the 4th of July 2009 and we had the best food and service ever. We were invited back this year for a meal for our 1st anniversary and we had a great night. I tried something new. I had crab claws. I loved them. They were so fresh. My husband had a tiger prawn starter and they were big and also so fresh. Our main courses were also amazing. The staff were so friendly and took time to speak to you. It was very busy but you wouldn't have noticed on how quick the food was served. If ever i was holding any sort of party, function or having dinner with friends, this is the first place on my list that we would like to go. Amanda & Mick

I'm a regular visitor to Cork Screw and have to say it really is going from strength to strength as the place to eat & drink in Gorey. From the fresh soups to the best Fillet Steak for miles ! The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is second to none. I even got a Thai Green Curry to take away as I left. Loads of great fresh food on display, so clever. If you eat in Gorey you have to give it a try.

Myself and my fiance were out for a walk and just popped in for an unexpected bite to eat. We didnt order food right away, and were not pestered to order food. The service was excellent and added to the over all experience of the wine bar. We have booked to go back again for dinner based on tonight. We had main courses only, the venison casserole, and the Tiger prawn risotto. Both dishes tastes amazing, very fresh, and we could taste the different flavours used to create them. The side salad with the risotto was the best I have had, grated carrot, different types of lettuce plus loads more to complement the main dish. The casserole was rich and nice thick gravy. Both had bread on the side so we didnt miss any of the tasty last of the juices. The wine bar is just off the main street, only a minutes walk at most. Everything was very clean and tidy. The atmosphere was relaxed, we were there for about 2 and a half hours, and didnt feel rushed at all. I loved the food and atmosphere. There was nothing I didnt like. We compared the food tonight to a meal we had in a top retaurant in Dublin, it was every bit as good if not better in Corkscrrew.

We went here for a friends birthday after reading the reviews on this page and to be honest I was disappointed. Downstairs it is lovely for a glass of wine and a nibble but I found upstairs badly lit and sparse with no atmosphere. The menu is very basic and the food average, it wasn't not bad but not special either. The staff and service were very good. If in Gorey again I would drop in for a glass of wine but won't be driving 30 miles again for dinner!

What a fabulous place! Right in the middle of Gorey but once there you could be anywhere in the world. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. We recently enjoyed fabulous food and service second to none there, as part of a large birthday group. Even though we were the second such group there, the staff made each one of us feel welcome and looked after our every need with ease. The menu offered a wide range of starters and main courses - something for everyone. Along with the specials board, everything was reasonably priced too. The food was fantastic in quantity and most importantly, quality - meat and fish cooked to perfection. The desserts were to die for also. Afterwards we enjoyed the rest of the evening downstairs in the comfy sofas. An excellent evening was had by all - well done to everyone involved. Keep up the good work!!

Visited Corkscrew in a group of 8 for a birthday party - there was no-one in the downstairs part and there were only 2 tables of 2 seated along with us. Our starters came out and were lovely if expensive but our main courses left a lot to be desired. My friend ordered the Mediterranean Chicken which was a pasta dish and another friend a veggie pasta dish. The waitress asked if they would mind spaghetti pasta as they didn't have any other pasta -not a great start. When the chicken pasta arrived it was a chicken breast sitting on top of spaghetti with a can of tomatoes heated up and poured over the top - definitely not worth €16.95. The Half of the table didn't get their side orders until their dinner was almost eaten. None of us waited for dessert. On the plus side great service and friendly staff - hope the food improves!

Recently had my birthday celebration with my wonderful friends in Corkscrew and I have to say the service from the minute I booked to the end of the evening was fantastic. The owner was very helpful and assisted with supplying the cake on the night, the atmosphere was beatiful not over noisey, service and food amazing. We retired to the couches downstairs after and it finished off the night so beautifully. Thank you Corkscrew and staff.

After dragging the young lad around Gorey in drizzle, I brought him into the Corkscrew. Lovely place. I asked the waitress for the menu and enquired about the kids choices, we do not do nuggets a chips was the reply, and just as I was about to leave she politely told me that they could russle up something. Nice one so I ordered a diet 7up and an obscure german beer. Well in about two shakes of a lambs tail she came down the stairs with a bowl of these amazing homemade chips, and a plate of sliced grilled chicken. Now of course there were to many chips for him so I had to liberate a few. I asked the girl for another beer and a slice of batch and butter, and she promptly obliged, out came the hp sauce from the shopping bag and hey presto and incredible chip butty. The young lad enjoyed his chicken and the bill only came to about 16 euro, brilliant stuff.

I was in Corkscrew on Sat night for a double Birthday celebration.. we had travelled down from Dublion for the weekend and booked this hotel after reading rviews on this Site.. i was not disappointed it lived up to its standards. The food was AMAZING, i had a steak and it was to die for! Soooo tasty.. the food was just nice not too heavy which left plenty of room for wine! The service was excellent, a little slow but we were a big group so maybe thats why.. the food was worth the wait though! We paid for drinks as we got them which was bit of a hassle for waitress but she didnt mind and was very obliging.... Nice atmosphere, it was'nt busy which was probably a good thing as we were quite loud! If i return to Gorey i will defo be paying Corkscrew a visit again.... :-)

I came here last night with my wife. we had nice starters and I had the steak. I have to say it was the best steak ive ever had. not many chefs can cook steaks like that. my wife does not eat out much because she has a thing about someone else cooking her food but it was so good she can not wait to go back. the floor staff could not have been any more nice to us. I will say one thing, the owner should sort out the smoking area cos evey time i went there i got locked out. but apart from that every thing was spot on. one thing that you dont see much in gorey was that the chef keep coming out on the floor to make sure the floor staff were doing their work and making sure all the tables were ok. you dont see that in many restaurants. I will have to say me and my wife have just found a place where we know we can be sure we will go back time after time. keep up the good work.

We had our Christmas party here in December. We were were greeted by one of the owners who offered us complimentary mulled wine which was the best i have ever tasted. We were sat at a table with comfortable deep leather seats which was great considering we were going to be spending some time there. Our starters arrived quickly and would highly reccomend the deep fried bree. Very fresh and served with a beautiful homemade coulis. Main course portions are very generous and you may need to pace yourself if you fancy having dessert too! The specials are always a good bet here and a very varied. We stuck to their pinot gris for most of the night which was great value and a good all round wine for a group of people. This is our second year having our christmas party here and we will definetly be booking for next year.

Since new management arrived the food has conme on big time.Though a bit limited it serves up well made bistro style food. The leather sofas probably looked good in the catalogue but dont work for eating or drinking. The problem here was and is a wine bar with a dull list of barely passable over priced wines.Hopefully with the kitchen sorted the list will be next .

A group of girls off for the weekend and decided to try Corkscrew based on other reviews posted. We were very impressed with the quality and presentation of the food. Service was a little slow but it was very busy on a Sat night and to be honest it didnt effect the overall impression of the place. Our only complaint would have been the 'singing' that commenced from an upstairs table which after half an hour or so drove us to seek a quieter place to continue our own evening. Note to managment, dont let people sing at parties even if they are the birthday girl!!

I was here today for lunch with a friend and I have to say Im terribly disappointed! I have visited here so many times in the past and its always been really good. Firstly when we arrived there was only one guy serving and one other table in the place,it took him ages to come give us menus and after a few seconds came back to see if we were ready to order which we definitely werent.we ordered drinks first and then finally ordered our food.i chose the chicken sandwich and my friend chose a simple panini.we were a bit rushed for time but it took a while to come but when it did it was so not worth waiting for.The panini was frozen cold in the centre and my chips didnt arrive til after i was finished..The guy serving didnt listen to what we wanted at all and he kept asking my friend if her hot chocolate was ok (About 3 times), it was really irritating because he kept hovering! He also forgot to bring her her other drink she had ordered. Its such a pity because i know the guys running the place work very hard to keep the place in great shape, its terrible that the staff let them down when they're not around!

Was here recently for dinner and both the food and service were brilliant. Great spacing between between tables, so we didn't feel as though we were sitting on top of the table beside us, as so often happens in other establishments. We both had fish for the main course, which was gorgeous and presented very well and the waitresses were very friendly. Dinner for two including a bottle of wine came to just over 100 - very good value and would definitely visit Corkscrew again.
