It was a fairly average place but the service was lousy. It was a while before we were given menus. Drink order was taken at the same time as the meal order instead of when the menus were handed out. Completely missed a person at the table for the orders (for both food and drinks). The drinks received were incorrect. The vinegar had dead flies in it.

I ate there with my two children and their father and we were unlucky to be there when they were short in staff. All tables were occupied and two poor girls were trying to do their Best, but to provide good service they needed two more waitreses. The tables with no tableclothes looked disguisting like in the coffeshop on the train station. We've got our welcome bread and butter after the starter and so on. But as I've said may be it was just bad day for us, because from my friends and collegues I've heared only good reviews about this place.

I ate here with two friends and I found this restaurant to be very enjoyable indeed. The service was fine and any special requests were met with a can do response. My choice of starter was unavailable but when I asked for a plate of garlic bread it was produced without a problem. My two companions chose chicken wings and pate which they both enjoyed. For mains I had a mild beef curry which I asked to be spiced up a little and one companion chose a fillet steak whilst the other had a pasta dish. The vegetables and potatoes that came with the mains were huge in size. All of us really enjoyed the main course I had a decent sized portion of profiteroles to finish my companions admitting defeat. This eatery is right in the heart of Courtown harbour and is very handy for anyone holidaying in the neighbouring area. The atmosphere was good and the restaurant boasts a bar adjoining the main dining area. I will be returning to the area soon and I will return to this restaurant.

Anniversary dinner : we went for the early bird menu dinner at 6 o'clock. We had a starter and main course each and a 1/4 bottle of the house wine each for €62.00 - some early bird. The wine was priced at 3.75 per bottle yet we where charged €5.00 per bottle. The starter was OK at best. The mains where steak and other was chicken. Neither came with veg on the plate so had to ask - when it finally arrived it was a few pieces of veg (which looked like they where dragged from the deep sea itself) served in a small bowl to be the veg for my husband and i. Whislt we found the Chicken & Steak to be nicely cooked the veg was less than average. Needless to say not the best dinner we have ever had. Shame really as we heard great things about the place. The service was quick and the staff where nice. The place was jam packed with others for the early bird. Would give them another try maybe not on bank hol weekend.

4 of us went for dinner. My starter of seafood chowder was nice but from a chipped bowl. 2 others got pate which was like sloppy cat food and the brie wedges were coated in 2 inch thick breadcrumbs. Weren't even asked how starter was for us.For mains Pan fried chicken was bland and stringy. Dover sole was €27, so you'd be expecting something good. It was smouldered in a sauce, which was propbably to cover the fact it wasn't washed properly. Said it to staff member and wasn't charged for that or brie wedges. Was asked if they'd like something else but we just wanted to leave at that stage. Expensive menu but food does not match the prices. Maybe they were having a bad night but wouldn't take the chance of going back and finding out.

Good option for couples or families. A group of friends & I have visited a couple of times over the past 2 years, while staying in Courtown for the weekend. Both years we have eaten dinner on saturday night, when we have found the food to be excellent, particularly the seafood, and the service attentive & friendly. Earlier reviews regarding the decor, I would feel to be unfair, as I feel that it creates a relaxed evening dining experience, which is in keeping with the whole feeling of the town. Both years we have returned the following day for sunday lunch (with children), and although the restaurant succesfully acheives a more "family friendly" environment, the quality of the food does not suffer. We have found the sunday lunch to be excellent, and good value. My pan fried plaice was superb, with plenty of really fresh vegetables, and the childs fish goujons & chips were homemade & terrific. In summary, I think this restaurant offers good quality food at a reasonable price, and knows it's market. We will be back next year!

Really nice atmosphere and fabulous food, the only thing lacking a bit is service. Once we could get the attention of the waitress we had as much food as we could possibly eat and she was very friendly. Would definitely go back and give it another try.

I've eaten here on two occasions and the food and service has never disappointed me. what i believe this establishments main flaw is, is the decor. considering that it has only been in business for a couple of years, it is simply one of the most uninviting and dated dining rooms i have ever eaten in. quite frankly, it would be more suited to a camp sailors coming out party than somewhere i would pay to eat

I have visited this restaurant on a good few occasions and I will say the food is quite good and i DONT think it is overpriced in the least as long as the food is consistant. The first few times myself and my girlfriends came we enjoyed it thoroughly. I did have one bad experience and it was for sunday lunch, i ordered the roast beef which was as tough as a boot and very tasteless but this hasnt turned me off,as long as the food stays consistant, i will keep coming back!

Booked a table here for 8pm Saturday night...arrived in plenty of time to be told we had to wait in the bar area even though restaurant only had three tables full. Finally got seated about 8.30 after having a drink. Starter arrived promptly and was lovely. Had to wait an absolute age for our mains. One arrived then the other arrived a few minutes later even though there was only the two of us. Service was terrible....could not attract anyones attention. Mains were very dissapointing swimming in garlic butter which tasted a bit off. Overall would not reccommend it and certainly wont be back.

It started well but went downhill rapidly. It was 50/50 as to whether the staff responded to your order - 5 requests for water - not rocket science. There were only 3 of us and we all loved the starter. However, 2 of the main courses were served at the same time with the third arriving 5 minutes later; and it shouldnt have come out of the kitchen at all. The rice was totally overcooked and swimming in its own cooking water, absolutely disgusting. Couldnt even send it back because the staff just ignored us. I would give this restaurant a wide berth. The food is inconsistent and its very over priced

The food at this Restaurant is Beautiful, well presented and carefully cooked, but its a rip off. We had Sunday Lunch here yesterday, there were no tables in the Restaurant, although there were lots but apparently booked for the evening, so we sat at a dirty table in the bar, where we were given menus, the table was never cleaned. We ordered Seafood Chowder, which was good for a stew of Mussels and Salmon and fillet steaks, the portions were tiny, the vegetables were fresh and hot. We had two minerals and our bill was a whopping €75.00. We had problems getting served and more difficulties paying the bill. We wont be back.

I won a voucher for Out of the Blue in Courttown and I couldn't have been happier with everything; the food, the staff, the prices (even though we didn't pay), it was a dream and have booked again with family for another night this Saturday, highly recommended.

Lovely food, I had the garlic mushrooms for starter, and steak for main and the meringue nests for desert. Truly delicious
