We had sunday lunch in the restaurant yesterday (January 16th 2011) & it was terrible. My wife had an oriental chicken salad to start, cold noodles, tired veg & a deep fried spring roll with rice while I had soup which was ok. For mains my wife had herb coated salmon & i had turkey and ham - both were relatively ok but the sides were awful with veg mush that were indistinguishable and hand cut fries that looked very like frozen chips & were coated in grease. Desserts were from a trolley and the waitress was not even going to bring to us until it was pointed out to her that we were there. We ordered coffee but this never arrived. Apart from one lady the other staff were not good & need some attitude adjustments / training. We are locals here & had ate in Lawlor's before & the food was lovely but it has really gone downhill. I doubt that we'll bother eating here again & would not recommend it to anyone.

Was part of large group of 30 for early bird dinner. Had lovely choice of meal, served with loads of fresh vegetables and their famous red cabbage. Would recommend their rock steaks, served on a slab of red hot rock, cooked to your individual liking.

This used to be a two kinds of spuds and as much veg. as you want business lunch spot, but they have added a bistro style dining room, which, in April, was pretty good. I had buffet style tapas, lots of decent olives, prawns, sort of sushi, deep fried mushrooms, all better than I expected. Worth checking out and could develop into a worthwhile option if there is a market for this style. recent lunch for 4 - two paninis, one salad, one ham and cheese sandwich, all with chips, reasonable quality, 40 Euro. Not Dungarvans best option.

We ate here as we were staying in the hotel and 1 meal was included in our package. The restaurant itself is lacking in atmosphere and is not exactly cozy! The plates and cutlery could all do with a really good wash as they are all dull and grubby looking. I had melon and parma ham for starter which was fine, however there were strawberries with it which I thought were out of place. My husband had pate which was ok. For main I had herb crusted salmon which was nice. The sauce that came with it had far too many ingredients though - spinach, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, leeks etc! My husband had a fillet steak which was ok but was served with pate which we thought was very strange. We didn't have dessert as they didn't sound appetising at all. The dessert menu looks like a kiddies menu. Our meal was included in our package but if we were paying for this meal we would have felt very ripped off, for example the fillet steak is €29!!! Far too expensive!

Had dinner here with my mother. Its a little off the square but I knew it from staying in the hotel a month earlier. I had the steak and it was beautifully cooked with loads of chips and veg. My mother had the salmon and was very impressed aswell. This is a great restuarant and a cheaper option to some of the others in the town.
