Nice place. Found it a bit pricey tho. Really only for a special occasion and at that not overly much choice on evening menu

Went with a bunch of friends. Had crayfish salad for starter, very refreshing. For mains, opted for pork belly, tasty succulent meat. For dessert then, went for tiramisu, pretty basic. Overall good experience, definitely recommend it.

I only went here for the early bird menu, but I have to say it was great value and most of the items on the early bird were also on the main a la carte menu. The food was delicious, service was great. the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Went here for a friends birthday, atmosphere was good, place was very busy. Took a long time to take our order and to serve the food. Being in a large group we didnt mind too much but if you were in a smaller party id certainly hope service would be faster. Food itself was lovely but a touch overpriced. In these recessionary times I think you can get much better value elsewhere :(

I went there with my friend. The atmosphere is fantastic, its really calm & quiet. A perfect choice for us who are tired after a long work day to relax and dine in. The price is reasonable (we are both taking early bird menu), & the food is okay. The starter & dessert are nothing special, in fact we felt its a bit overpriced. But the main course is memorable, the hake fillet is fresh & baked perfectly to our taste. The service is also excellent, we don't have to wait long for our food to be served. In general, I think they deserved the awards they got & would definitely go there again.

I was eagerly looking forward to eating at Befanis as being from Clonmel but living in the UK I thought it was really exciting to have such a lauded restaurant in the town. I was expecting a treat. Unfortunately, I was disappointed from the start… The service was perfunctory and slow, the atmosphere had all the charm and feel of a very 80s and while I have no problem paying high prices for good food I resent paying extortionate prices for a limited menu and badly cooked food. The starter was a tasty calamari and prawn platter but overpriced for what it was. I had the steak (requested medium) which managed to be both very overcooked and rubbery while my dining partner had the fish platter which was smothered in a sauce which overpowered the texture and taste of the fish. The portions were big but I’d rather pay for quality rather than quantity. When I left the steak uneaten there was not even a gesture of goodwill – money-off, free drink, replacement of the dish. Nothing. Living in London where prices are high anyway and which I am happy to pay as I eat out a lot I was shocked by the prices here. There is a wider issue of ‘rip off’ Ireland at play in this but living near a Michelin starred restaurant which has a set a la carte menu at £40 and where the food is impeccable and then visiting a regional Irish town to eat over priced and badly cooked food I think the customer will always be the loser here.

Lovely food, presented very nicely. However having arrived at nine we were not served until ten past ten. No apology was made for the delay.

We had an excellent meal in Befani's before Christmas sometime. The quality of the food here is extremely good, I would say comparable to good restaurants in any of the cities. I can't remember everything we had but I'll take a stab: Starters were duck (I think) liver parfait and goats cheese and roast beetroot salad. Both excellent. Hadn't had parfait before, very impressed, like a lighter pate. Came on lovely toasted brioche. My girlfriend's salad was really good two, perfect mix of salty goat's cheese and sweet beetroot. An excellent balsamic dressing too. I can't remember what my girlfriend had for main course but I can remember I had a fish dish (salmon, cod and maybe seabass aswell) with beurre blanc. Fish was perfectly cooked, and I mean perfectly. The beurre blanc was excellent too. Can't remember what I had for dessert but my girlfriend had lovely churros with hot chocolate. I got a cafitiere of lovely ground coffee, which I LOVE- it's so much nicer than getting a middling americano. I wish more places would do this. Overall Befani's is very impressive. Real skill in the kitchen, nice atmosphere, can't fault it! Please visit and see for yourself- places like this need to be supported to show that we enjoy good food not just the same oul boring "fine feed" that seems to be the rule and not the exception.

I have eaten at this restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner (not all in the same day though) and it always felt like I had a treat. I think the food is always very tasty, good value for money and the service is also excellent. I would particularly recommend this restaurant for breakfast. Its the feshest, tastiest and best value for money breakfast in Clonmel with a varied breakfast menu. Some of the breakfasts on offer include the obligatory full Irish as well as french toast, healthy smoothies and a fruit platter. The tables out in the garden are particularly nice in the summer.

The first two times I ate here I was very dissapointed. I had the tapas and found them to be flavourless and stodgy - maybe I was just unlucky with the selection on the day. However I recently tried the chicken with pear and chorizo salad for lunch and it was really nice. A tiny bit oily, but very very tasty. Served with fresh cut chips. Excellent value at 10.50euro. The outside area is great on a sunny day.

I've eaten their a few times now, for both lunch and dinner and have enjoyed it every time. I'm not a big desert person but I can't resist their malibu and coconut panacotta. It can be quiet a "fishy" menu at times but I'm sure anyone who goes will truely enjoy the experience. Love that they have an out door area where you can eat Al Fresco.

Went here twice and loved it great service and very inventive food. Never managed to pick a main here as tapas selection so fab. rest of crowd ordered mains and they were fab. Would recommend in fact a large group of us heading there for a night out soon and all of us looking forward to it. may not be the cheapest place in town but worth every penny

I have eaten here on many occasions and I am always delighted with the food and the service. While it is a bit more expensive that other restaurants in the Clonmel area, the food is always of excellent quality and well presented. The steaks are always fantastic!

I have been here a couple of times with a big group of friends and both times we skipped the main courses and just ordered a variety of tapas. A really enjoyable meal as you're all sampling and swapping and comparing opinions on each dish. Throw in a couple of bottles of wine and you're guaranteed an excellent evening. I think this probably works out as better value as well. I'd recommend the smoked chicken - melt in your mouth delicious.

I have only eaten there at lunch time but this is by far the best place in Clonmel for Sunday Lunch. €22 for a 3 course meal or you can get the main only for around €14. In comparison local pubs & hotels offer carvery lunch for around €11 or €12. For just €2-€3 more the standard is supurb. Last time I was there I had the Gnocci in Lobster sauce. It was excellent. I was part of a group of 6 people and everyone enjoyed their meal.

Have been to this restaurant twice. Very expensive for what you get. The early bird menu doesn't have many choices. While the food is presented lovely you would still be hungry when you left. The staff are very courteous. I would recommend this for a romantic night our or special occasion.

Think of this as a place you would take your wife or girlfriend. Fancy dishes with right sized portions. The lamb shank is the best. I am sure it is done well elsewhere in Tip. but for my money, I will eat it here.

I was there ages ago and I found it a bit overpriced for the food they were serving. It was lovely but I wasn't over impressed with the mains.

A really lovely restaurant. The food is tasty and there is always a nice atmosphere. It can get a little cramped however when there are people waiting at the bar for a table as there is only just enough room to sit the diners. Staff are always friendly and helpful.
