The Roseville Rooms @ Faithlegg House Hotel & Golf Club

The Roseville Rooms @ Faithlegg House Hotel & Golf Club

We stayed for 5 nights in this hotel and had dinner in the Roseville Rooms Restaurant on the night of my birthday. The dining room is old world charming with elegant furnishings and art giving a beautiful atmosphere. The staff are extremely attentive and very efficient. We were delighted to be offered the wine and dine menu which offers 3 courses - good range and a bottle of wine per couple for 79 euro. The food at each course was freshly prepared and tasted very good - full of flavour and very tender meat - I had ordered a well done steak (cringe) which was cooked exactly how I like it! hubby's lamb was the tenderest he has had in a long time! the accompanying potatoes and veg were perfectly cooked. The bottle of wine was not one I was familiar with but tasted fine. Desserts were very nicely presented - mine came complete with happy birthday chocolate icing and candle and 3 lovely staff singing happy birthday (sorry guys!). All in all we really enjoyed the evening and thought the restaurant a lovely place to have a celebratory meal.

Enjoyed a lovely leisurely lunch here recently and really enjoyed the food and the setting of the restaurant directly across from the promenade at Sandycove. We chose a beautiful sunny afternoon and were delighted to be able to sit outside in the small outdoor area - the inside looked lovely too and was air conditioned! The lunch menu had lots of choice and everything we had was cooked to order and tasted lovely. The staff are friendly and efficient. The toilet area is small but very clean. We could not resist a glass of prosecco as it was so sunny and it reminded us of dining out in Italy! I had crab cakes and hubby had chowder both lovely, for main I had the fish pie which was one of the best I have had! hubby went for cous cous with chicken and Mediterranean veg which he said was also lovely. We finished off lunch with some excellent coffee. Really enjoyed our lunch here and would definitely return and recommend highly.

We had a menupages voucher and were excited to try this restaurant as we had heard some very good reports about it. Our voucher entitled us to 3 courses from the a la carte menu which had some lovely if not a huge range of choices. I had the mushrooms on sour dough bread to start and hubby went for the Asian pork belly salad - both divine and very decent portions, For main I had the scallops in a garam masala cream on Pak Choi and hubby went for the monkfish again decent portion size packed with flavours. I had strawberry roulade and himself opted for the chocolate and raspberry pudding, both beautifully presented and tasted divine. We finished up with some very good coffee. The attentive and efficient staff were extremely pleasant and quick to take orders. The restaurant is very nicely decorated with a lovely atmosphere even though there were only 3 tables in use on the night we went. The restaurant location is at a car park but they have gotten round this problem by designing a lovely fenced in terrace area with outdoor furnishings for al fresco dining - the fence has some lovely planting features which draw your eye there rather than to the car park beyond! and the car park ensures ample parking with a very short walk to restaurant. I will definately be returning to this excellent restaurant and would highly recommend.

Had tickets for the NCH and thought this would be a nice place to eat prior to show - they do an early bird. The atmosphere is lovely with the piano player at the entrance really adding to this. Service was very efficient with lots of wait staff. Plenty of choice on the early bird but we all opted for the same cod and chips - not terribly classy but yummy! The sides of minted pea purée and tartar sauce were lovely but the batter a little bland despite it's somewhat alarming yellow colour! Dessert was divine again we all opted for the same - chocolate fondant...perfectly cooked. All in all a very pleasant meal if a little expensive but a handy choice for the NCH!

We were on our way home from Dublin and wanted to stop for something on the way - I remembered seeing a voucher offer for this restaurant and thought it might be nice to try, dialled ahead to ask if there was a table free as we would be there in 20 minutes - I need not have worried - all the tables were free! Not a good sign I was afraid (that's why atmosphere was marked down) and I was tempted to leave again but glad I didn't as the food was gorgeous and very good value - 14 euro a head for 3 courses. There was lots of choice of starters and mains but only fritters or ice cream for dessert. Service was very slow especially since we were the only diners, but the food when it arrived made up for it, delicious we all agreed! Don't know if I would go back but if you are looking for good food at great value try it!

The Cellar Restaurant @ The Merrion Hotel

As we were lucky enough to receive tickets for OperaTheatre Company's Coffee Cantata which was put on in the Merrion Hotel and the Cellar Restaurant was offering a special value coffee inspired menu we decided to treat ourselves. We booked for 2 adults and 1 child and were hoping there would be something on the menu our daughter would eat - we need not have worried the waiter assured us on arrival she could eat from a children's menu or they could adapt the set menu. We were seated immediately we arrived in this beautiful cosy restaurant, we were offered drinks while looking at the menu - the menu offered lots of choice and everything had an interesting coffee addition - hmmmm. I chose the salmon starter while hubby had the beef carpaccio both excellent! For main I had the corn fed chicken and hubby the rack of lamb both were absolutely delicious perfectly cooked with the most divine flavoursome sauces. Daughter chose the merrion fish & chips which she declared to be 'amazing'. The service throughout our meal was spot on attentive without being intrusive. there was a huge wine selection and the waiter was very helpful in making selection. Our desserts were divine light and sweet and so fresh. Cofffee afterwards was lovely with lots of refills. We really enjoyed our meal here and would definitely recommend.

Could not fault this restaurant! A group of us were heading to the Grand Canal Theatre and were looking for somewhere close to enjoy a long over due catchup prior to the show. One of the party was coeliac and I was assured over the phone that they could cater for this. Initially I booked for 4 but on the day 7 of us wanted to eat, as I neared the restaurant I could see it was very packed - there seemed to be a large wedding party - I was worried we would not get a table for our now larger party.....no problem said the very efficient manager as she pushed tables together and made a large table appear like magic! The food was just fabulous and every one of us ate from the very impressive early bird and the coeliac lady was told the choices she could have...a lot! We cleaned our plates! Lots of choice, good wine list and lovely attentive staff and the bill at the end a very reasonable sum....I would return no problem and would have no hesitation recommending. It is extremely handy for the theatre too!

We decided to give this restaurant a try when we got the chance of a great deal from a menupages.ie site. The Restaurant is attached to the Ashford House and is positioned around the lounge bar. The space is a big and cavernous with high ceilings which means noise reverberates around and makes it a little noisy - I docked half a star for this. We were seated in a cosy booth which we liked but might be too isolating for others. The menu offered lots of choice with a blackboard list of specials - there was also a good cocktail menu with good value cocktails 6 euro for alcohol ones and 5 euro for non alcohol - we couldn't resist (much to the delight of our waitress!). There was a great wine selection too. I chose the crab cake which was gorgeous followed by monk fish done in a tomato based sauce with roasted vegetable cassoulet served with lemon rice which tasted divine! Hubby had the tomato and basil soup which was very good followed by hake served with puy lentils on a celeriac mash base (this unfortunately tasted only of potato - but good nonetheless), we opted for the whoopee desert (not so nice - hard stale tasting sponge with a strawberry fondant innard - nothing like the American frothy confection I was expecting! and the sticky toffee pudding (which had a condensed milk after-taste) - another half star docked. We had some very good fresh brewed coffee. Overall I really enjoyed dining here and thought the food with the exception of dessert was lovely, the wait staff were very pleasant and attentive. One other point I did not like was the situation of the toilets - they must be very close to a smoking zone as the stench of cigarettes as you enter them was awful.

Had not been here for a while and was wondering if it was still as good as on previous visits....It was! The atmosphere was buzzing with all tables occupied as we entered at 8pm, delicious smells were wafting towards us making us hungry - I chose the fish cake stater which was lovely - succulent fish in a light golden breadcrumb, followed by pan fried corn fed chicken with mushroom & Tarragon sauce - beautiful! Hubby had the seafood chowder to start which he proclaimed to be excellent, his main of seabass was perfectly cooked and accompanied by excellent vegetables and baby potatoes. As we were feeling fairly full we said we would share a dessert of panacotta with raspberries - divine and rather difficult to share - we should have got 2!!!!! Coffee was excellent. We were delighted to give this old favourite a try again it did not disappoint! Will be back

Had a voucher for this restaurant and was expecting to have to eat from a limited menu - not the case here we could choose anything we wanted but there was a small supplement for some items like seafood. The food was beautifully presented and tasted divine, beautiful flavours with just the right amount of spice. The staff are very friendly and attentive without being annoying and gave good advice on menu choices. The restaurant itself is very comfortable with nice furnishings and very comfortable spacing of tables - some of the tables had some very opulent couch style seating! The lighting was good on our visit. When we were paying the bill we were given a voucher to dine again as a couple with wine starter and mains for 36 euro will definitely take that up! This is a wonderful restaurant serving excellent food offering good value - I would recommend!
