we got delivery from this restaurant and felt that it was very overpriced for what we got. The food was not very tasty and i feel that there are other restaurants in the area which provide tastier food.(20/5/08) We ordered the special meal deal for two for delivery. food arrived but no beers as advertised on their website as being inclusive.Driver mentioned may not be included for delivery. I decided to check website and called them back.Spoke to two members of staff before being transferred to the rudest, most obnoxious man i have ever had the misfortune to encounter. He told me that the beers were not included if for delivery, when i explained that this was not stated on the website his explanation was that the"regular customers"knew that it was not included! he spoke over me throughout the conversation, told me he did not have time to argue!when i told him the website needed to be updated, he did not seem interested at all. When i told him it was false advertising, he actually agreed and also told me that he was not interested in new customers! Told me he would not be sending the beers, then relented and said he would, but that i would know for the next time that the beer was not included even though website clearly states it is inclusive! i didnt have the heart to tell him there would definatley not be a next time!! driver arrived about an hour later, apologetically and pleasantly explaining that it was nothing to do with him, an ideal candidate for new manager job in my opinion! worst take away experience ever. following the above review on 17/7/10 we were pleasantly surprised when the delivery man knocked at our door, explaining that his boss had only just been made aware of the incident, offering us a complimentary meal as way of apology. we gratefully accepted this and felt it was a lovely gesture. new manager arrived with food and from starter to main course to naan bread, food was fab. They have definatley won us back. well done :)

overpriced, slow service...food below average. I think the only reason this place does any business at all is due to its location and convenience before or after a movie or shopping. It nearly killed me to pay so much for such average burgers, chips and nachos. will not return EVER.

usually go here every Friday for lunch. great value, soups and sambo combos are very good value, good portions and very tasty. Curried soup and santa fe wrap are two of my favourites. The greek salad is also gorgeous and huge portion, and very generous with the feta cheese! highly recommended.

The Orchid Chinese Restaurant

The Orchid Chinese Restaurant

We were pleasantly surprised with this restaurant, having exhausted most of the other restaurants in malahide, yet craving a chinese. Doesnt look like much from the outside, however the dining room upstairs is quite big. Having made a reservation only hours before, we were seated ( yet again!) at a table for two which was fairly cramped. I asked to be moved and to our delight we were seated in an area which was slightly sectioned off from the rest of the room and had about five tables within this area. Perfect for us, however my only gripe was that it was close to the toilets and people had the habit of leaving the door open, which made it quite cold to be seated where we were. The service was prompt and friendly, food tasty and overall this was a pleasant experience with us deciding we would definatley return.

fab, fab, FAB. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. From start to finish it was perfect. Myself and a friend booked a table for a saturday night, with the idea of having the early bird....as we are watching our pennies but still felt we deserved a little treat! However, both of us being late as always, we arrived a little too late for the early bird, however having being seated in the gorgeous dining room, we were offered the early bird menu. Where most restaurants will refuse to give you the early bird menu if you are even 5 minutes past the time, we were nicely surprised. The decor throughout is fabulous, very opulent and you forget you are in an airport hotel in Dublin! Its the nice little touches, like the spacing of the tables.....none of them close enough to hear others conversations, white linen tableclothes, delicate lighting, attentive, friendly and accomodating staff who blend into the background yet are there should you need anything, and a great view over dublin airport and beyond. Our coats were taken and we were seated at a table for four, even though it was only the two of us.We both chose goats cheese for our starters, I had fish for the main course,my friend had fillet of beef and we decided to share a desert, creme brulee. We also ordered a bottle of white wine. While waiting for our starters we were treated to a complimentary sample of soup, leek and potato, which was presented in tiny little cups and was a lovely addition to what we had already ordered. Our starters arrived and were gorgeous, then the main courses which we both devoured. The courses were nicely spaced allowing us to catch up on some much needed gossip without feeling rushed. Desert was nice, but I have had better. The bill came to €80, very good value for such a great restaurant. We left promising to return, only to be told the restaurant will be closed for the next while.Highly reccommended.

booked a table at this restaurant for myself and my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday. Having booked it about two weeks in advance, I explained we were celebrating a birthday and asked if they could reserve the best table for two that they had available. I was assured they would do this, however when we arrived i was very disappointed to find that we were seated smack bang in the middle of the room, with a table on either side of us, so close we could hear their conversations clearly. This gave a bad start to the evening and I really felt that more care could have been given to ensure a good table, given that i had made a point of asking on reservation and also given that there was a row of tables for two along the back wall which would have been ideal for us, however we were told there were no more tables for two available despite these tables not filling up for the rest of the evening. Having requested a better table, we were seated at another table where we only had neighbours on one side, however our new companions more than made up for this by conducting their conversation so that not only we could hear but so that the whole restaurant could hear! This aside, the food in general was superb. We shared a starter, plenty for both of us.The main courses were, generous but not too big. I had the murgh tikka masala, which was devine, I cannot recall what my boyfriend had, however he was not very impressed as it was quiet bland. We had a bottle of wine, and two coffees to finish off, leaving the bill under €100,very good value. This is a lovely restaurant, the interior is tastefully decorated, my only gripe being the close proximity of each table. As regards value for money, given the location of this restaurant, the decor and the overall standard of food and service, despite my complaints about the tables,it is good value for money, however money wise you may do better in a different location and with an equal standard of food.

met a friend here for a quick lunch. Lovely little place and great to see something different in swords. Has the feel of a french bistro. Staff are very friendly if a bit run off their feet on the day i visited. I had a fruit scone with jam, which was served warm, nice but some whipped cream on the side would have been a nice touch. my friend had a chicken salad, the portion was huge. overall a lovely addition to swords and i will be back.

We've eaten here several times and this place just cant be beaten for authentic Chinese food at great prices. Very popular with the local Chinese community which is always good to see. The portions are huge and always very tasty. The spicy heaven dishes and hotpot dishes are amongst my favourite, however they seem to have been very generous with the spice recently. That said, we just couldn't stop eating!! Such a convenient little place, close to the cinema and rarely have to wait longer than 5 for a table. After eating here you will find it difficult to pay the bigger prices for poorer quality food in some of the many Chinese restaurants in Dublin.

Excellent and well deserving of 5 stars. This is one of the best seafood restaurants I have been to. Everything about this place makes you want to return time and time again. This place was buzzing on the night we visited and there was a great atmosphere. The starter of mussels is to die for and this alone would bring me back. The specials are printed on a blackboard and all of the fish dishes we ordered were gorgeous. The only dish which was a little disapointing was the pasta, however this is a seafood restaurant and if it's seafood you are looking for then this is definitely the place to go. The decor is laid back, which adds to the atmosphere. This is the kind of place where you can relax and linger over your meal or even just a plate of mussels and a few glasses of wine. My only quibble is that the tables were very close together and we were seated quite close to the door and it got quite chilly everytime the door opened. The best seafood restaurant in Howth. We ate here for the second time on 12th october. We booked at the last minute and got the last table for two, tucked away cosily between the stairs and the bar. Although we had difficulty seeing the board for daily specials from this table, the waitress was very helpful and I enjoyed the fact that we were not seated too closely to another table. We started with the chicken piri piri, which was very tasty. For main course I had the portobello mushrooms stuffed with crab and parmesan cheese, absolutley delicious and highly recommended. My boyfriend had the steak and this too was a very good main course. For our side orders we had carrot and parsnip puree and baby boiled potatoes. We had a bottle of fleurie @€26,a really nice wine. The wine specials were also displayed on the board. Yet again, this restaurant failed to disappoint. The staff are lovely, cheerful and helpful and the food yet again was delicious. This place is definitley worth a visit.

Have been here a few times and have never found the staff to be very good, in fact they almost make you feel as if you are in their way and an inconvenience. On the two occasions I brought my children, Sunday afternoons, I really felt as though the children were not welcome. The staff seem to have a very stuffy attitude, almost as if you are in a 5 star hotel, only there we would not feel unwelcome and the food would be edible. Awful and definitely a no-go, a real let down for Howth.

This is a lovely restaurant in a nice location. It was very busy and we were seated in the new part, deep 2, however the original dining room seemed a little more upscale even though it is all the one restaurant. The staff were friendly if a little rushed off their feet, therfore appearing to be a little impatient. The specials are displayed on a blackboard, which is literally propped up beside you if you wish to look at what's on offer, and moved from table to table. The lamb shank fell off the bone, as a previous reviewer had commented and the fish dishes all went down very well. I had pasta with clams, which was a little bland, however the pasta itself was "al dente" and therefore cooked to perfection. We had a bottle of wine, which was very nice and a few beers. We skipped dessert. Overall this is well worth a visit and I would definitley return.

I went here during the summer with a couple of friends and we had a lovely evening. The tables are quite close together, which is okay if you are with a group, but not really for a romantic evening. It is a lively little bistro, with good service and tasty food, which is well presented. The staff are very friendly and accomodating, finding a table for myself and my friends on a busy Friday night. We watched as the staff brought huge plates of food to other tables and the steaks look fab. Great presentation. I had the risotto, which was gorgeous, however my friends both chose a pasta dish with chicken which was very bland and disappointing in comparison to my risotto. However I would not let that stop me from going back again. This is a lovely little bistro in the heart of Malahide.

I have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. The restaurant itself is lovely, cosy and intimate. The takeaway area is now downstairs which makes a huge improvement on having people waiting upstairs in the main restaurant. The staff in both the restaurant and downstairs are extremely friendly, and helpful and the service was very good. The menu is extensive without being overwhelming.I love all of their chicken dishes, and have never been disapointed and their korma and tikka masala are definitely worth a try. They also have some nice variations on the usual Indian dishes. The peshwari naan is also fab. Prices are reasonable and if you are in the area this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

Sopranos Ristorante Italiano

Sopranos Ristorante Italiano

Sopranos is very hit and miss. I have eaten here several times and I have to say that the first time was the best. Although the staff were quite slow and seemed uninterested, the food on this occasion was very tasty. On our return visit however it had gone steadily downhill, service was still lacking, the wine list not really worth looking at and the food was bland. We returned a few months later and had an early Sunday evening dinner, which again did nothing much for the taste buds. Overall, this is a restaurant which dishes up the usual Italian favourites but without much flavour or flair for true Italian cooking.

Highly recommended. I booked a table at this restaurant, for a Saturday night, having read the great reviews and we were not disappointed. Everything about this place is great. We were greeted at the top of the stairs and had the choice of several tables. The tables are nicely spaced out and there is a nice relaxed atmosphere. The service was very good - efficient without being in our faces, and this is the type of restaurant where you don't feel pressured to leave as soon as you have finished your meal. The food was excellent, good sized portions and the menu has plenty of choice without being overwhelming. My only complaint, if you could even call it that, is that the jug of water we asked for never made it to our table! We lingered over our complimentary drinks and left promising ourselves that we would definetely return. Our bill came to approx €65, which we felt was very good value for such delicious food - 2 starters(stuffed peppers, very tasty and tandoori chicken), 2 main courses and very generous portion of pilau rice and a bottle of wine. Overall a great restaurant.
