Had the early bird menu bento box, which was great value and really tasty... Good miso soup, reasonably priced beers, nice lively atmosphere and good service.

Kanum ThaiPosted on 02 November 2010
Nice little place and i love the concept of a thai diner... it's about time we had cheap and authentic thai food in dublin. The penang duck was delicious, and plenty of it, the calamari was really good too. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back!

Had a birthday brunch here on Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Only complaint was that the bloody mary's are slightly overpriced at nearly €10 each... which is almost the cost of the brunch!

BANG RestaurantPosted on 23 September 2010
Cannot recommend this place highly enough! The waiting staff were attentive and very polite & the food was amazing - particularly the crab lasagne which was served with the halibut, the saddle of rabbit was perfectly done, and the chips with garlic aioli was really good too. Also the steaming hot fresh bread to start was a nice touch.
We'll definitely be back!

Restaurant Ten FourteenPosted on 09 September 2010
Went for lunch and am sorry to say I wasn't impressed.
Wasn't crazy about the dated decor, felt like we were in dunnes cafe circa 1990. The ceviche starter was lovely as was the duck starter... but the sea bass main was pretty dissapointing (fish was full of bones and the rosti was tasteless). To finish we went for the cheeseboard to share, which arrived about 20 minutes later and the cheese looked and smelled bad so we sent it back.
All in all it wasn't a great experience and I dont think I'd go back.

Kokoro Sushi BentoPosted on 27 August 2010
had a sushi lunch here today and was really impressed. The miso was lovely and the sushi was tasty and well-priced too. A few more seats would be handy though.

Burritos & BluesPosted on 24 August 2010
Went on the citydeal voucher last night and was pretty disappointed... We were going to eat in, but the music was way too loud for a hungover monday and the door was wide open and the place was freezing, so we just decided to take away the burrito's instead.
They had run out of pork, and the rest of the options didn't really appeal to me. Also, charging extra for guacamole is a bit much.
The burrito's weren't anything special and the sauces all tasted quite similar.
The staff didn't really seem to know what they were doing either and the citydeal vouchers were a bit of a false economy as it was for €8 worth of burrito's, but the burrito's were only about €6 each anyway.

Sweet Basil ThaiPosted on 23 August 2010
Went for a late meal here last night, they do a curry and rice special for €5 so we thought we'd give it a go...
Looks shabby from the outside but inside isn't so bad, albeit decorated in a very bizarre style.
I shared the duck pancakes with a friend to start, which was lovely and at €7.50 for a half duck - very reasonably priced.
Then I had the Paneang beef - the sauce was lovely but the meat was a bit tasteless and chewy, but for a fiver I didn't expect much more although I would prefer more chicken or pork choices on the €5 menu.
The service was grand too but was a bit of a shame they only had Chang beer on the drinks menu as I'm not a fan.
If they had singha and possibly did a bit of a re-decorate this place could be a real gem.

The Halal Sultan RestaurantPosted on 23 August 2010
Cheap and cheerful and great for a feed on your way home after the pub, and it is open very late... i think it was about 5am when we were in there on Saturday.
We had kebabs and taco fries with cheese which was pretty tasty and great value.

Chez MaxPosted on 18 August 2010
Went for the early bird yesterday evening, and was looking forward to having the mussels but unfortunately they had none delivered that day... I know these things happen some times but it was quite a disappointment for me and my mum. The sea bass that they had instead was lovely anyway and the chips were gorgeous. My friend had the duck from the a la carte menu too, and that was delicious.
The atmosphere was great, a very french feel to the place, and also our waitress was very nice and friendly.

Milano (Temple Bar)Posted on 16 August 2010
Went in unbooked on a thursday night with a group of 5 people. Not too long of a wait for the table and we were seated downstairs which I found a bit cold and un-atmospheric.
We had a pizza each and shared a salad between us. The pizza's were gorgeous, particularly the American Hot which was perfect, the base was really thin and crispy and topping was really tasty.
We had a 2 bottles of wine between us and, using our two-for-one voucher, the bill came to €100, which I thought was very reasonable for a big feed with enough wine to wash it all down.
Would definitely go again.

Bay RestaurantPosted on 06 August 2010
Arrived unbooked on a busy saturday night and managed to get a table for 2 within a few minutes which was lucky and the staff were very accomodating.
Had the duck breast on the hot stone which was nice but I felt the accompanying dip could have been a bit sweeter. The ceaser salad was lovely, very fresh and the fishcakes were also pretty good.
The only thing I disliked about the evening was the live music. It was a bit cringey to be honest, I think a cd in the backround would have been better but each to thier own I suppose.
Would definitely go again, and have been back since a couple of times for the early bird, which was lovely and also for brunch, which was slightly overpriced but very tasty.

Hop House / KimchiPosted on 06 August 2010
We had the lunch special which was well priced but not much variety on the specials menu.
The california roll was delicious and light but possibly had a bit too much fish roe... which wasn't overpowering or anything, it's just I'm not a big fan personally.
The Jeyuk was nice too, a large portion but a bit boring after the first few forkfuls.
The place is pleasant enough at the front section and the staff were friendly too.

Le Bon CrubeenPosted on 06 August 2010
Friendly, helpful staff and a nice pub/restaurant atmosphere. Menu is very well priced (starters may be a bit overpriced though).. We had crab salad to start, it was quite nice but a bit creamy. The duck with bok choy main course was delicious though... a whole leg of duck and the meat was perfectly cooked, sweet and tender. My friend had the steak though, which looked more like a pork chop than a steak - the meat was white (?) but it was tasty enough all the same.
The dessert was a bit of a let down, the cheesecake wasn't great and the rice pudding was a bit 'ambrosia' for our liking.
All in all, a great meal and at a great price.

Always delicious and great value (once you don't order loads of sides). Had the Katsu curry which comes with that sticky rice and it was amazing. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Will definitely go again.

Tables are slightly cramped but the food and drinks are nicely priced. I thought the food was great. My friend thought the portions were too small but mine was plenty. Location is very handy to Luas and dublinbikes scheme (grantham street).

Frankies Italian Bar and GrillPosted on 05 August 2010
Service was fine... Not much variety on the menu but the burgers were big and tasty albeit simple. The side of onion rings was pretty pathetic though, soggy - not crispy at all and pretty overpriced at €3.95.
Would go again, but there was a lot of kids running around, and a baby crying all evening at the table beside us.
