This is a great place for lunch. I've only got take away and it can take a while, the only downer. Their soup is always tasty, I got beetroot and onion soup one day and it was beautiful, to my surprise. I had their €5 special today - a sloopy joe. It was so satisfying, I'd go back again tomorrow for another one.

The tapas here are wonderful. It is brilliant to see that the quality of this place hasn't slipped in the past few years. I've been here before and enjoyed and same again. We order stuff Portobello mushroom, asparagus, chicken salad and cheese and bread. It was all so tasty. My dining companion had one gripe - no salt or pepper on the tables. Personally it didn’t bother me as the food didn't need seasoning. We had two lovely glasses of cava to wash it all down. It was a very busy Friday night. It is a tad dark also, our candle went out and I couldn’t read the menu.

I had eated at their sister restaurant in Leeson st before and enjoyed it. This did not dissapoint. We both had the praws in filo pastry to start - lovely and crispy and nice big prawns. I had the lamb chops for my main and they were amazing. They were cooked a perfect medium and I just had to pick them up and eat the bones they were so good.My partner had a creamy chicken and mushroom dish served in a pastry bowl.It was really tasty but I thought mine was better ;) The BYO is great and a lovely off licence is next door. We were there on a very busy saturday and the place was alive and kicking. They were very busy but service was good.

I wasn't sure about this place at first, it was very dark and quiet even tho the restaurant was full of people. We ordered off the al a cart menu. There isn't a massive choice but the food seemed good. For starter my unusual black pudding in a tart topped with apple and blue cheese was interesting. After a few mouthfuls the strange mix seemed to work together. But my main course really won me over. I chose the duck with pomegranate seeds and sweet potato. The duck was wonderfully meaty and succulent. The seeds were a great addition, a lovely sharp crisp bite to them. And the earthiness of the sweet potato worked well. OT had calamari to start - beautiful, I would order this next time. And steak for main, it came out and it was bigger than his head which was great for him. We didn't bother staying for dessert or a drink as it was a little dreary. But the food was wonderful. We were stuffed afterwards but warm and fuzzy. The staff seemed fine, not overly friendly but nice.

I was really impressed with this place when I ate here. I got the fish pie which was divine. The others got burgers but the fish cake really stood out. A great range of beers from all over the world and some lovely Irish ones. Dublin is getting rather spoiled in the quality and range of beers we can drink in our establisments these days. Bring it on I say. The fish pie as I mentioned was great, a meal I really remember. The staff were all nice and they have board games and stuff to keep you entertained while you wait for your food or simply enjoy a pint.

I love this place, the pasta is to die for. I usually get a chicken timballo which is a pasta bake with creamy mushroom and bacon sauce. Pizzas are good too esp their irish take the Kelly Pizza. Recently started to do an early bird which is welcome. Prices are ok.

I had heard great things about this place and it certainly lived up to it. It was great being able to pick out a bottle of wine to bring with us to the restaurant as they have BYO with no charge for corkage. We ate off an early bird menu, €9.95 for starter/main/tea coffee. For starter I had lamb kebabs which were lovely and spicy. My friend got the butternut squash soup and was really impressed. We both ended up ordering the chicken peri peri. It was served with a tomato pasta sauce. The chicken was lovely strips of charcoaled pieces which tasted lovely. We had tea and coffee and a desert to finish. The total bill was only €26.95 for the two of us. The waitress was really friendly and chatty. She showed us the a la carte menu and it was great value - mains around a tenner, would defo come back. Great place to get something to eat before going to a gig in Whelans.

Went out for a meal here with friends on a Saturday night. Luckily I had booked as the place was packed. The food was excellent. Everyone at the table agreed. For starterI had dips and bread. All the dips were delish. I had the swordfish for main which was excellent, with a very tasty salsa verde. I had a cheese plate for dessert which they offer for one or two people. The steak and medallions were also had at the table, each one thought their dish was nicer than the other. The creme brulee got excellent reviews. It was a great place to bring a group as everyone was impressed and we would all go back again. The services was faultless, the waiters managed to get that very thin line of being professional and friendly all at the same time. You are missing out if you have not tried this place yet.

We ate off the four course menu at €27.95 each. For starter I had dips and crudités and pitta bread, the dips were very tasty. My OH had the chicken wings which were lovely, really nice dip. For main I had seafood risotto which was served with a salad. The risotto was lovely and rich but very heavy. I was glad of the salad which gave the meal some variety and made it lighter. OH had steak which was served with lovely chunky cut chips. It went down a treat. For dessert I had a raspberry meringue and he had chocolate cake. It was the most delicious deep dark rich cake with a fantastic sauce. All in all it was a great meal out and it nice knowing you are eating in an organic restaurant.

I ate here for lunch on my own during the week. It was very busy when I came in and I was offered a seat at the couter. It suited me as I was on my own. There was a great atmosphere in the place it was really busy but chilled and funky. I ordered a veggie burito with tofu which is optional. It was a lovely burito full of flavour and cheese. It still managed to retain a slight asian flavour to it, it had asian greens and spices in it. It was served with guacamole, sour cream and salsa. It was great value at 6.50. Would love to try the bento box but not much veggie option.

We were here on a Sunday and there was a great atmosphere as there was the GAA and soccer on TV. The bar men were friendly. We ended up deciding to stay and have Sunday lunch there. There is a proper restaurant upstairs but we decided to have some bar food. I had fish & chips but i asked for it with potato and veg instead which was no problem. My OH had the beef and Guinness pie. Mine was fine, I'm not mad about deep fried fish but i ate around the batter and the sides were nice, tartar and mushie peas. OH really enjoyed his, the beef was excellent and it came in a lovely puff pastry. Reasonable food on a relaxing Sunday.

This place serves real comfort food. I went in at lunch time. I ordered a small plate which was 6.95 and i got a little bit of everything. The food was piled high on my tiny plate. The staff were nice and the server gave me a glass of water without me asking which i always think is nice as they are not forcing you to spend extra money. There was a curry dish with broccili and chickpeas, there was a potato gratin dish, a tomato type dish, and some paneer (cheese made from whole milk - delish). There was a nice spice to the dishes but not too hot. I was stuffed for the afternoon, perhaps a bit too much food for lunch. This place has great variety, veggie and cheap food. You don't go here for atmosphere, it has a canteen feel to it. I will go back.

I did not like this place at all. Went in for breakfast but there was only two staff working (that I could see). One on the till with the endless queue of people and one making and delivering food. My other half got a full Irish breakfast while I ordered tea and toast. They delivered his first. 10 mins later mine had still not arrived. Went to go look for it but the girl at the till was busy and no one else to be seen. Eventually I got someones attention and she brought it down to me. I asked her if there was any jam. She told me to get it at the till!!! Went up to get some, couldn't see it anywhere. Girl working at the till was too busy to ask (notice the pattern here). So I ate dry cold toast while my partner was finished his meal which he gave a 3/10. I left the place feeling horribly frustrated. Would never ever go back again. Over priced!

Bits and Pizzas

Bits and Pizzas

We ate here using our menupages points (thank you menupages). Luckily I booked our table as it was chock a block on a Sunday evening. Lots of people waiting for a table - good sign. For starter we both had garlic mushrooms which were smothered with mozzarella and put under a grill. They were fantastic. For mains I had lobster and crab ravioli. It was good, I think I ordered it as I was charmed by the seafood. It did not disappoint but I wouldn't order it again. My other half had Mexican calzone, bit of a rash decision as the pizza he wanted (buffalo) wasn't available. It seemed like dry mince meat in a pizza to me. He ate it all but prob wouldn't go there again. We ordered a bottle of Italian wine which was lovely. Staff were fine, very busy. We were very impressed with the dip we were given with our nibbles for free (if ordering off the value menu). It all started out great, we were blown away by the starter but the mains weren't as good. But I would go back again, good excuse to visit beautiful Dun Laoghaire.

This place has a lovely cuban latin atmosphere with music playing and nicely decorated. We both othered tapas plates. Mine was a veggie one with mushrooms, potatoes, spanish omlette and salad. The mushrooms were in a beautiful spicy sauce, delish. The omlette was just ok, obviously a reheated slice. My partner had meatballs, chicken, mushrooms and potato gratin. The meatballs were a hit but the chicken was medicore. The gratin was beautifuly, i could have eaten a whole plate of it. We shared a jug of sangria - lovely stuff. We enjoyed dishes as lots of different tastes. The total bill was e33 which was well worth it. The waitress was faultless and friendly.

We ate here early in the week and it was quite busy. The seats outside look nice with comfy cusions and blankets. We ate indoors which is a small environment. The waitress was brisk but the manageress made a point to come over and introduce herself to me. She offered a paper to read while i waited for my partner. For starter I had seafood chowder which was lovely. My partner had chicken wings which he was really impressed with. We had two pizzas for which you choose your own toppings. When they arrived all the sause and toppings were in the middle of the pizza which is a bit of a waste as it left really big dry crusts. Luckily we were full after starters. Pizzas were fine but nothing to write home about. Overall it is a nice place to eat if you are passing by in the area. But i wouldn't go out of my way to eat there again.

I've passed this place on Georges st many times but never thought to go in, until it was suggested. I was glad to try a new place. And they had an offer on of any pizza/pasta for €10 which was great value as this was late on Sunday so many early bird offers were over. I got the tagliatelle pasta salmon which had a creamy sauce and fried with aubergine and leeks. Not much veg in it or it was cut up very small. But it was so tasty, I think it must have been smoked salmon because it had that beautiful strong taste. It was a massive portion but I ate every single bit of it as it was so good. The others got penne pasta with pan fried beef which was raved about. And a calzone was also ordered, which was deemed lovely and scoffed down. It was quiet that evening but its nice and cosy and comfortable inside. The waitress was always present but never over bearing. I was amazed by how good it was. I did have a pasta come down a few hours later by the amount I ate but it was kinda worth it.

Milanos are constantly sending me details of offers they are running. We decided to use one of them, it was a buy one get one free main course. I have eaten her before and loved it. But instead of getting the usual pizza I decided to try a salad, tuna noicse salad. It was very tasty. Potatoes, tuna, olives, green beans, anchovies. It also comes with bread pieces which fills you up. The lettuce was a bit discoloured which put me off and I didn't eat the lettuce leaves. But the rest of it was so tasty I just kept on eating. Other half had a pizza which he enjoyed - no surprise there are they are usually spot on. I had a large glass of wine and he had a large beer. It can cost between €8-9 for a large drink there and I feel this is where they are making up on profit for the discounted meal. But it is your choice to have a drink so I suppose it is fair enough. The place was very busy on a Tuesday evening and the staff were efficient. I'd be interested in trying more of their salads now.

We ate here with a deal voucher, we had two starters, two mains and a glass of wine each. The starters were lovely. Chicken satay was nice with a lovely sauce. I had the pancakes with curry sauce. The pancakes were cooked nicely, like a batter. For the mains I ordered the Nasi Goreng which was nice, fried rice with chopped veggies and prawns. I enjoy this dish but it is a lot of the same thing. Other half had a chicken curry dish which he said the chicken was tasty but the curry wasn't unusual or different. The place itself is very dark which is a pity as the furnishings are lovely. The staff were nice. I think next time I will order something unusual like fish head curry to try and taste some authentic Malay cuisine. If you stick to the main menu, you will end up with the same food we've been getting in Chinese/asian takeaways around the country for years.

We choose to eat here as we were going to a play and its one of few decent places on the north side. We had the early bird which was a starter, main and tea/coffee for €21. There was a notice on the door that they are giving the VAT reduction back to the customers so could be less now. I had a hot smoked trout for starter which was nice and light. Others had the beetroot, cashew, ginger dip which was fantastic - the favours were beautiful together. Main I had the seafood linguine. It was nice but wayy too much. Pasta sauce was a bit too heavy, would had preferred something lighter with all that seafood esp. the nice crab claws. There was still some grit in my mussels and clams which is a pet hate of mine. Others had the veggie gratin which tasted lovely but was way too much also. We winded down with herbal teas and speciality coffees. It was exactly what we needed - a nice bite before we headed off to a mid week play.

This place is great as you get the joy of a decent FX Buckley meal combined with a massive selection of beers from around the world. Four of us ate there and had the early bird which was great value at €17.95 for a starter and main. I had the mussels in white wine and it was divine. I wanted to drink the sauce straight out the of the dish it was so tasty. The others had chicken wings which went down a treat, the blue cheese sauce was excellent. Even the red pepper soup was complimented as the nicest tasted in ages. Mains, I had fish pie which was perfect. Really creamy with mash and lots of nice chunks of fish. The steak the others had looked great too. The staff were super friendly. After we finished we went up to the beer hall to have a drink but it was too packed - it was Friday evening. But would defo bring a beer/ steak loving crowd back there again.

We went here on a Saturday night with a group of people. It is a lovely place and it feels more intimate than the Georges st one. There is even a covered outdoor area where you can sit. We all had a different dishes each and some sushi to share. Everyone loved their food, I had ishi yaki gohan which is a big melting pot of loads of food, prawns, crab meat, rice, veggies with a fried egg served on top and it came with some spicy sauce on the side. I was warned it was hot but it was not too spicy at all but it's good for people that don't like hot food. I also got aspargus tempura and smoked salmon sushi. The food was lovely. We had lots of different cocktails - great fun, Some of the group tried the sake taster. It was four different sakes shots with instructions on how to taste. Interesting. All in all with a generous tip it was €50 each which was reasonable as we had plenty of drinks on our bill and spent hours there. It was so busy but no one bothered us to free up the table. A more relaxed lingering kinda place than Georges st.

We went here with a city deal voucher. The girls serving couldn't have been nicer and explained exactly what we could get with the voucher. Two pizza slices and a tea/coffee. I got a veggie pizza slice and a 'special' veggie. Both had aubgerine on it and one was spicy - delish. Such a small little place, very squashed but it is worth it. This place has been around for years and for a reason - the food speaks for itself. It is even handy to pop in when passing and get a pizza slice to take away with you. Much nicer than any 'dominos/four star' pizza type place.

We ate here at lunch time. The lunch menu is outstanding value. Starter, main course and a tea/coffee for only 9.95. I had the mushroom soup for starter which was a terrible idea. It tasted like a cuppa soup. I should have got the samosa or onion bhajai. Himself got chicken tandoori which I was told was lovely. For mains I got the sag paneer which I was super happy about. This is doesn't normally show up on a set menu so I was very pleased to see it. All the main courses could be served with a choice of meat or vegggie option. My paneer was great - really spicy and tasty. We got nann and rice to share. I had a peppermint tea and the bill came with after eight mints. I was stuffed afterwards but it was very tasty and I was very happy and full.

Popped in during the week as it is a very hand location, right beside the luas line. We both had savoury crepes which were delish. The waiter was very helpful, he seems like he is right out of a top class 5 star restaurant, a little over the top but it is nice to get good service. He suggested that there was too much cheese on one crepe and offered to change an ingredient for something else. I had a great big pot of earl grey tea, they have a wide organic lose tea range, 3.95 for a pot for one, dear but nice. Also had a blueberry muffin to top it off and it was delish, beautiful and fresh. This is a great place to sit and watch the world go by. The interior is really modern and new. Great little place.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK South Anne Street)

The burgers here are divine. They have a massive veggie option menu which is great. I got the portobello mushroom burger which was massive and difficult to eat but really worth it. Lovely relish with rocket on it. It is a juicy burger so your bread bun tends to get a bit soggy. But the feta was a bit too strong for my liking so it was the only thing left on my plate at the end of the meal. In the past I've also got the veggie camembert which I would recommend. All the veggies have been roasted and taste great. The soft mild cheese just melts in your mouth. Mmm. Usually you don't need extra chips with your meal as the burger is filling but the OH got them and I happily chomped away on them. The place itself is tiny but we there for lunch so it didn't bother us too much. There are nice booths up the front which would be nice to sit at. It can be expensive for a burger (over €10 with no chips) but they usually have deals on which are great value. If you haven't tried this place yet but have been meaning to - get down there tomorrow. We ate at lunchtime coz we were going out after work and it totally filled us up into the evening.

We ate here and had the early bird menu which was great. Starter, main, dessert AND a glass of wine for only 19.95! Brilliant value. Starter I had calamari which was lovely, really nice bite to it and lightly dusted with lovely cajan spices. My OH had the chicken wings which looked good but messy. The blue cheese dip was nice. For main I had veggie fajitas, the only hot Mexican veggie option. It was good, served with sour cream, salsa and guacamole (delish). OH had the burger which he said he enjoyed. It was a nice treat to get dessert for free as I would normally opt for starters rather than dessert. I had the profiteroles which were so tasty, there were too many of them (8) but unfortunately I ate them all down - so good. He had the tequila and lime cheesecake, which was right amount serving but not much of a tequila taste. But he ate it all. Our waiter was really nice, just that perfect level of being helpful without being over bearing. I had the menupages voucher and he very politely told me it couldn't be used for the early bird (which is fair enough as its such good value) but let me know I was welcome to use it any other time. As we were there the place started to fill up and had a great atmosphere to it, like the start of a very exciting night. Would defo recommend it.

We arrived not knowing that Mulligans had been changed/upgraded. The bar man was happy to help us choose a nice Irish draft beer. Very tasty - Blonde Belfast. As they only do bangers and mash on Mondays and Tuesdays we didn't get to try the full menu. I'm veggie so I had the veggi sausages and OH had chilli and corriendar flavoured sausages. Food was just ok. Mash was luke warm and the gravy was very sharp tasting. OH enjoyed his meat sausages tho. Was a little bit let down with the food after I was so impressed in their vast collection of beers. Nice touches like the menues are in old books. Not original but quirky. Great to have a pub like this in the area.

We had the early bird option. He got garlic bread which was nice and I got mushrooms with garlic/lime aioli which were fine. For mains I got prawn and red pepper pasta in creamy sauce. It was not very nice, I left most of it. Half the prawns still had the veins in them and one was discoloured - gross. And it was very dry, not at all creamy. He got island chicken which was VERY spicy, but lucky he doesn't mind it hot although he was sweating through it. The waiter knocked our glass of red wine off our table and it got the couple next to us. Accidents happen and they offered to pay for her dry cleaning. My handbag wasn't so lucky and now smells like a brewery. Starters were good, mains failed. €53 for lot, bottle of cab sav included - wine was good by the way. As usual Luigi Malones never seems to excel at food - it's always just mediocre.
