Yamamori NoodlesPosted on 26 May 2010
I've made quite a habit of eating in Yamamori.
Their wide variety of excellent dishes make it quite a pleasure to work your way through the menu, though of late I've settled on getting a selection of appetisers between a table (tempura, gyoza, sushi) and letting that be the entire meal.
Always a good atmosphere, very good service, and consistently excellent food. Great for parties, too.
All round, it's top-notch.

Michie SushiPosted on 26 May 2010
Simply fantastic Sushi.
I've rated it low on atmosphere because it's so out of the way that whenever I go in it's always empty- it seems that most people still use it mainly as a take-away- but the staff are always lovely, helpful and prompt.
I think my own personal award for 'best sushi in ireland' has got to be a straight-up battle between here and my favourite in Rathmines. It is quite an enjoyable battle to be adjudicating.

TippenyakiPosted on 26 May 2010
Have visited this restaurant on several occasions, and keep coming back. Great food, great service, great value.
The tepanyaki cooking at the bar is great fun- best check that out if it's your first time, or if you're there with a group.
They're in the habit of putting on unusual meats as specials- I've tried ostrich & crocodile- both were excellent.
Also, their sushi is phenomenal- possibly the best I've ever had. Try the dynamite rolls. I often find myself driving (a fair distance) out here just to get these to take-away.
Yum.

Sweet Basil ThaiPosted on 06 May 2009
Nice enough place. We got take out, and the waiter was very friendly. Food was prompt, and smelled delicous. Unfortunately it didn't taste as nice. I had the mixed seafood, which was a tad bland, and contained something (lemongrass?) that was so tough it was inedible. My comrade's Pad Thai was apparently great.
Tempura for starters was fairly poor too- seemed like pre-packaged frozen stuff.
For the price, I suppose it wasn't too bad, and it did hit the spot. Won't be rushing back though...

Jasmine House ChinesePosted on 04 July 2008
This really is pretty much standard fare, but I’ve been going for years and the quality has never lapsed. Great for takeaways. Huge portions. Nice staff. Really quick service. Generally yummy. Damn, just thinking about it, I'd go for one now, but it's way too early in the day for Chinese food...

Acapulco RestaurantPosted on 10 October 2007
Have become something of a regular here recently. It's not gonna set the world on fire, but it's inexpensive and definitely yum. Good value for money, and consistently worthwhile, which is admirable. Big portions. I've never left unsatisfied.

The Martello (Bray)Posted on 01 June 2007
The big surprise here is the sheer quality of their food. It truly stretches the definition of 'pub-grub'. For example the pub classic of 'bangers & mash' is delivered with epicurean style venison sausages and delicious red onion marmalade. Now that's impressive. I'm not a fan of the pub itself (it's a bit snooty), but food-wise the Martello is highly recommended.

Avoca HandweaversPosted on 27 April 2007
A gem, and an Irish institution- one of those places that you could almost put on a postcard from Ireland. The place is great, the gardens amazing. Yes, everything is a bit steep, but you get what you pay for and more. The food is amazing, the soups, the quiches, the scones, the breads, the pestos, the salads, the cakes... every single thing they do is the very best.

Brasserie Sixty6Posted on 27 April 2007
Went here in a group, so were given a set menu, which is a bit crappy as the selection was very poor. The food was passable, nothing great, but what really got me was the attitude of the whole place. It was so stuck up, it thought so highly of itself, and unjustly so. The portions were TINY but because they were arranged in elaborate 'fashionable' styles this was supposed to warrant the hefty price tag. The service was poor, and in another flourish of its frustrating attempt at 'hip' the toilets were unisex. This left a queue out the door of irritated men who could have been in & out an age before if there'd only been a few urinals. Any potential this place may have had was unfortunately invisible behind its 'look-at-me-I'm-so-cool' crap.

Dusty MillersPosted on 27 April 2007
I used to go here for lunch when I worked in Bray. The food was great, firmly above average pub fare. I remember being quite pleasantly surprised on my first visit that the place wasn't better known for its food. The service was always great, the staff friendly and quick-off-the-mark ready to help. Price was always remarkably reasonable for what you're getting.

L'Officina by Dunne And Crescenzi (Dundrum)Posted on 27 April 2007
Great for a quick bite or a working lunch. The panini's and appetizers are to die for. Get two, otherwise you'll regret it. You will want more not because the portions are small, but because they taste so damn good.

The Real Gourmet Burger - Dun LaoghairePosted on 27 April 2007
Top notch fast food. The burgers are fantastic, I had the lamb and was hugely impressed. Unfortunately the chips are a slight let down; and yes, it took a while to get a table, but the staff were so nice they could have slapped me in the face and I wouldn't have minded.

Great food, particularly good for specials. Wouldn't mind a bit more variety on the menu, but that's really the only complaint I have!

The Purty Kitchen (Dun Laoghaire)Posted on 27 April 2007
Just been for lunch there and I felt it really should have been better, both because of the price and its reputation. The starter (mushroom) was nice, but the main (prawn & crayfish) was bland. I honestly think it was poorly done. Also as pointed out on other posts, the service was poor. For a hefty bill, I felt a bit hard done by. Probably won't be coming back.

SalamancaPosted on 27 April 2007
Yummy greatness. I agree with most other comments, best enjoyed with a group of people so you get to try lots. I've certainly tried a fair few of the dishes from only 2 visits, and there wasn't one that was any less than excellent.
