Bits and PizzasPosted on 28 April 2008
My girlfriend and I went here on Saturday evening for a quiet meal. We had initially tried to make reservations in town but we were told they were booked up. The unavailability of a table in town was to work out very well as we had a lovely meal and a great evening. It's nice to go on excursions away from the usual and a nice drive up the coast and the laid back atmosphere of Bits and Pizzas was just what the doctor ordered. We had garlic bread and baked mushrooms to start and although the garlic bread wasn't fantastic, the mushrooms were delish. The choice of a main course was a difficult one as the pizzas looked very nice but just werent what we were in the mood for. I opted for the tagliatelle and my girlfriend had the lasagne. The portions were something to write home about and the tagliatelle was the right balance of sauce, mushrooms and chicken, with an abundance of pasta. My girlfriend ordered the ice cream sundae for dessert which was an immense affair of chocolate and ice cream, far more than she had bargained for. A lovely meal, a great night and our waitress was very friendly, personifying the pleasant atmosphere of the place.

The Steps Of Rome (Chatham Court)Posted on 24 April 2008
I ate here the other day with some friends and we all had a good time. Obviously the fact that there were a few of us caused difficulties (bit of a squeeze) but the pizza is probably the best I’ve had in Dublin. The restaurant has really feeling of authenticity from the Italian employees, who I believe, own and run it, to the jars of preserved herbs and veg that line the walls. Pizza as I said was very nice, garlic bruschetta was actually quite hot because of the black pepper it was laced with. Nice food, bit cramped.

La PizzaPosted on 16 January 2008
There's good places to go for pizza, this is not one of them. Don't be enticed just because it's of close proximity to the cinema - wait for your popcorn and save your money.

Kehoe's Pub & Parlour - ClosedPosted on 15 January 2008
I have been going to Kilmore Quay on holidays for years and Kehoe's definitely serves about the best food going. I don't eat fish but this in no way takes away from the experience. I went there with my girlfriend just over New Years and we helped ourselves to the Kehoe's Burger. Couldn't finish it as it's an immense meal but we stayed around afterwards for a few pints and an enjoyable night - just a shame the taxi services down there aren't as top notch as grub.

Cafe LeonPosted on 15 January 2008
The prices in this place are outrageous and as for claiming to be an authentic French café/bistro, where are the tarte au citrons, a staple-point of french pattiseries. Wasn't impressed and limited selection left me to settle for a coffee.

Pizza Hut (Dundrum)Posted on 15 January 2008
The all you can eat lunch-buffet in this place is dangerous! I swear you start eating, keep going and about half-an-hour later you can't move. Great value but you can't move or eat for about a week after! Nice........

Little Caesars (Harcourt Street)Posted on 15 January 2008
This place is fairly run-of-the-mill for Little Caesars and nothing exceptional. Service is average and if you're looking for Italians there are far superior places to eat. Nice for a grab and go but can't imagine spending a nice, relaxing evening here.

Metro CafePosted on 15 January 2008
I visit a lot of cafés in Dublin and this has to be among my favourites, whether to sit outside early in the morning with a cigarette or for a late evening cup of coffee inside. Waiters are friendly and it's really what those chain cafés etc should aspire to be.

The WoolshedPosted on 15 January 2008
Perfect for the middle of the day, the big platter is not exactly amazing quality (after a while everything just tastes like grease), but with the amount of food you get all can be forgiven. Nice selection of beers too and a perfect spot for before or after the cinema.

Wicklow HeatherPosted on 14 January 2008
This place used to serve up bog-standard meals for very reasonable prices and offer portions you could never get through. Now however, whether it be new owners or an attempt to attract a different class of customer, it's all change. The food is unexceptional and pricey and the Cajun chicken tasted not very Cajun at all.

Heavenly Food & CoffeePosted on 14 January 2008
If Ireland was situated somewhere close to the Mediteranean I reckon Heavenly would do some great trading. But it's not and Temple Bar Square is cold and like a wind tunnel at the best of times. Nice during the summer and I still keep going back for hot chocolates and marshmallows.

The Mongolian BarbequePosted on 14 January 2008
This is what restaurants should aspire to be. Accomodating for big, waiters with a smile and the option to create your own dish (and also all you can eat!!). I visited this place late last year for a friends birthday and it is the perfect pre-drinks restaurant. Good fun but be careful not to over-stretch yourself, all-you-can-eat can be dangerous!!:)

Eddie Rockets (Terenure)Posted on 14 January 2008
When you go to Eddie Rockets you're not generally looking for the good service or good prices (it's generally just the Chicken Tenders or Classic Burger!). The branch in Terenure is no exception to this rule but offers the standard nice food and semi-decent service. Nice for night-times or after pub-hours on the weekend. The only word of warning is Sundays, noisy kids running about the place does not make for a nice dining experience

Luigi Malones RestaurantPosted on 14 January 2008
Walking thorugh Temple Bar at night this place doesn't seem too attractive, always too busy and queues out the door. However, for lunch this is an excellent choice and reasonably priced (handy for students). Naturally during the middle of the day there's not much by way of atmosphere which makes for a nice relaxing lunch and plenty of conversation. I went for the gourmet hamburger with a side of fries and tall glass of coke which worked out at about €12 and sorted me out for the day. The portions are very generous and it's unlikely you'll go away still feeling hungry.

Bijou BistroPosted on 14 January 2008
I haven't visited this place for a number of years as it is kind of off my radar and I was somewhat disappointed by the atmosphere offered by Bijou Mark II. I remembered this place as being a small affair offering a quiet, homely atmosphere and an experience that you could not get in the city centre. In its new guise, it is a carbon copy of anywhere else in town and offers little of the qualities that distinguished the old place. That said, the food is still very good (try the foie gras!!) and I would have little to complain about with the service. Me and my partner visited on a Friday night and the place was hopping (it's obviously a lot more popular than it used to be too), so if you're looking for a quiet and laid-back I would suggest do not go here on weekends. Overall a good experience and with the pub across the road it's a nice evening out.
