Chai Yo Teppanyaki

Chai Yo Teppanyaki

We went for a leaving-do one lunch time and I'm. It sure any of us realised what fun we were in for! As a group of 8 we were ushered around one of the special tables and given aprons. Then in came our chef who made us laugh so mucho was difficult to eat! He cooked the most beautiful food and we ate like royalty. Really looking forward to going back :)

I may be in love! The food in Pichet's is devine. Had it not been physically impossible I think I would gladly have kept eating until they kicked (or rolled) me out!

We have been here a few times now as hubby loves the teak on the stone! We've always had good experiences here and love the food. For me, the chilli and the French onion soup ate favourites. The staff are friendly and attentive and the weekly offers mean you great value for money. Also, took my mum who's a celiac here and she was treated likes queen - which made her day!

This is a place that's clearly run by people who love good food made with great ingredients. We keep going back because we can't get enough of the place. Homemade scotch eggs, the most delicious gammon, sea salt ice cream...sounds odd but is sooooo good! Oh, and the hubby loves the fact that the menu recommends the best whiskey and beer to go with each course

100% loved this place. Went with one of my closest friends for a catch up and spent the whole night gassing and enjoying the food. I had not long got back from Spain and was super impressed with the standard of tapas.

It's hard to walk by a place that's clearly so popular. In we went! We were seated quickly by a welcoming waitress and drinks were brought over whilst we selected from the menu. I had the cod and chips; a classic served fresh and crispy. Himself had the Sole with oysters to start. He wolfed down both and is still raving about McDonah's. I would definelty recomend this place and will certainly go back.

Avoca Cafe (Suffolk Street)

Avoca Cafe (Suffolk Street)

Posted on 09 November 2008
I've been here a couple of times now for Coffee, cake and a natter. The atmosphere is perfect for just that, in fact everyone seems to be doing the same. I have found with some places that you are no longer encouraged to linger but here in Avoca it's pretty much compulsory. Never been rushed out or made to feel like I'm hogging a table. The cakes are divine especially the Carrot cake. Over all this is a great place to hang out and I expect with the right friends you could easily spend the entire day here. Enjoy.

Avoca certainly know about food. We were out on a Sunday drive and got hungry. Like a beacon of shining hope we saw Avoca in the near distance and headed for it not knowing what to expect but assuming we'd at least find some artisan bread and some sticky jam. We're we in for a surprise! On arrival we discovered that they had a Cafe and up we went like mice to cheese. Avoca has a great knack of wafting delicious smells around so even if you're not hungry you find yourself drawn to their food. We were delighted with the seasonaly relevant and well presented menu. Every dish was well prepared and absolutely delicious. I savoured every single mouthful..mmmmm! The winner for me was the dessert 100% perfect crumble.

Douglas and Kaldi Restaurant

Douglas and Kaldi Restaurant

Posted on 09 November 2008
As there is a lack of breakfast cafes in the D15 area Douglas and Kaldi have pretty much cornered the market. We have been several times always on a Sunday morning and the place is nearly always packed. Don't think I've ever had anything other than the full breakfast and yes it is starting to show on the ol' waistline! But there os one reason I have it and that is the delicious bacon they use. Highly recomend you try it. The service we've received has ranged from the staff clearly not caring to them being scarely attentive so it's hard to tell what's normal for them. If you're a book lover then you might like to take along any old ones you have as they have a book swap shelf, which you don't see very often.

I guess this is really one for the evening time. I went on a Saturday afternoon with 2 friends for a good old fashioned girly lunch and gossip. We were one of only 2 lunch parties which meant the atmosphere was lacking in the empty restaurant. The food was scrumptious; we all braved dishes that we'd never tried and were rewarded with dishes of steaming hot yumminess. If I was to go again I'd go in the evening instead as I think there would be a more 'buzzing' feel to the place.

If I'm honest I wasn't blown away by the food here. The Prawn Sung starter was good but everything else was as it always is. Food was an overall 'good' but nothing new. Staff were nice, food was prepared quickly and the take away has the look of a salon.

Jaipur Restaurant (Ongar)

Jaipur Restaurant (Ongar)

Going her was a last minute desicion on a Friday night. There were 3 of us and we didn't have a reservation. Althought the restaurant looked busy we were welcomed and seated within minutes. The first thing that struck me about this restaurant was that the tables are generously spaced out; so your not competeing to be heard over the neighbouring tables conversation. One of our party is a coeliac but this didn't faze the staff at all. They were quick to guide her through the menu to point out the dishs which were suitable. We each chose a main dish and side dish each. The menu even recomends side dishes to match each main dish, we went with what they recomended. All the dishes came out together and looked delicious. So delicious that we decided to just share everything. Every dish was mouth watering and quit eclearly made with some expertise. A pleasant change to someof the thrown together currys some restaurants serve. We were not dissapointed...in fact we came a way very impressed.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK Temple Bar)

Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK Temple Bar)

Posted on 23 October 2008
It was cold and miserable out one evening after work and myself and himself decided to find somewhere cosy to hide rather than get soaked waiting for the bus. We headed to Temple Bar and headed straight to this place. We'd noticed it before as it looks clean and inviting which is more than can be said for some places in the same area! We were quickly looked after by a pleasant waitress who gave aus a nice table near the window and took our drink orders. Funnily enough we both had burgers! I chose the Jamacian burger with Mango and Ginger sauce. Delicious. He had the Avocado & bacon, his silence throughout the meal tells me it was good. In an atempt to keep things sensible we opted to share a portion of GBK chips...yum yum yum. Homemade, skins on, simple and tasty. Whilst we were there we observed that this place suits all. People looking to sit quietly whilst reading, families with kids and elders, friends and last but not least romantics hiding from the rain!

It be pub grub..if it's raining go here for the kind of food that fills you up and makes you feel all warm inside. If you're going for lunch leave 10 minutes before everyone and head upstairs. They do the classics; nuggets/scampi in a basket with chips, soup and roll etc. value is decent, no more than you'd want to pay for pub grub.

Good for a quick no frills lunch. Staff are nice enough...guy who serves from the lunch counter (possible the chef) lovely chap. The food is as you would expect from a pub and portions can be a lttle too much. Lasange was lovely, very creamy white sauce. Go with no expectations.

yummy yummy yummy Have been here loads with friends and work colleagues. Never had a bad experience. Lunch time during the week is usually jammers so ring ahead, especially if there's a feww of you. Staff are wonderful and everyone of them is able to memorise your order no matter how distracted they get; quite the trick. I would pretty much recommend everything i've had. However as my memory's not that hot I can't remember exact details. So, Chicken of teh special menu with sliced, roasted (I Think) potatoes and a tomato based sauce...very good and very filling. Pizza - love them all and YES I think I've tried them all (not at once!). Once asked for a simple Penne and pesto and it was delicious..so fresh! Great place..I'm hungry just thinking about it!

Went to Roly's Bistro for a lunch meeting and was very impressed. I always have a fear that places like this can come off as pretentious and that's usually because of the staff but I have to say they were brilliant. Our waiter deserves a medal for how welcome he makes people feel. The food was delicious. Went for a starter of fish cakes, beautiful and perfect portion size. Then a duck dish for mains which was prepared by some kind of wonder chef. Love this place and am looking forward to my next visit!

Govindas (Abbey Street)

We all have those days when we want to eat out but without the pomp of dressing up or booking ahead and Govindas is perfect for those days. This is the kind of place where 'we're all equal' and the food just fills you up and makes you feel good. Service is friendly and food is served from a buffet type selection allowing you to select which of the veggie delights you would like to try. Overall the foods good, but nothing to write home about. It's the sheer relaxed feeling that makes this a great place to eat.

Authentic recipes are the source of this restaurants success and the flavours of the dishes are superb! Service is spot on and although it might be considered pricey to eat in Kinara it's well worth it. I had a monkfish dish that I can't remember the name of but I do remember being amazed at the top quality fish and the more than adequete serving. They also do vouchers which make great gifts...that's how we ended up going. I highly recomend this restaurant.

Mao Restaurant (Chatham Row)

Went here last night with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. We both ordered the Sea Bass filled with a seafood selection and served with pak choi and a kight soy based sauce. Delicious. Our waiter very kindly gave us the option of having it served with or without the head! I ordered a side salad with mine too. Usually I find side salads can be a little disappointing but this one was fresh and crispy; just a simple selection of various salad leaves with a light dressing of what I think was fromage frais and lemongrass. I never thought of putting lemon grass on a salad before but I know i will now. The portion size was perfect, we both left feeling pleasantly full but not too stuffed. Being the one with a sweet tooth I opted for a dessert. The selection was small but the treasure of the few on offer has to be the (lowerfat) mousse served with passion fruit. i was supposed to share this but I got carried away and had it to myself! Overall we both really liked this place and will definitely go back.

The food is AMAZING! I had a prawn red curry and fell in love with it and my other half had a duck dish that had brandy in. I didn't think the brandy was a good idea...until I tried it..lovely. The brandy gave a subtle warmth and sweetness to the duck and made it very Moorish! There was one bad point which was that although we went on a Wednesday it was packed to the point of not being to hear each other...literally! So if you're not talking its a great place to go but if you are I wouldn't recommend it. Or maybe ring ahead and see if its heavily booked.

Food was tasty but portions were disappointing. They look good but that's mainly to do with how a lot of them are presented; kebabs hanging from a 2ft metal stand, crabs served in what I think was formerly a diving suit (of the copper variety). Overall it was nice but forgettable.

I have been here a couple of times now and although the service ranges from mediocre to over kill the food is great! I have tried two types of the burgers and enjoyed them both immensely. All the food products are fresh and organic (hence the name) and I really believe it shows through in the taste. Portion size is more than enough. My only qualm would be that the chips are a little disappointing as they were just little crispy sticks! Would much prefer thick cut or wedges. They also have a great soft drink I think its Elderflower and Pomegranate...very refreshing. Enjoy your day at the Farm

We held a surprise birthday party here in the upstairs function room and it was brilliant. The staff were very accommodating and let us go in before hand to decorate and they helped plan out the tables as we wanted. We were allowed to decorate as we wanted except for glitter...they don't like glitter because it's a pain to clean which was fine with us. (We didn't have to go back and clean up either - bonus!). The food was lovely - they put on a buffet and although I don't remember the exact price I remember it was very reasonable.
