Taco Taco

Taco Taco

Posted on 15 September 2010
This place is fantastic. Granted, the Epicurian Food Hall does sort of make you feel like you're eating in a school canteen, but that's easily put aside for the quality of the food. I always get the vegetarian quesadillas with extra jalapenos, which is perfection every time. Taco taco is cheap, delicious and the servers are lovely. I love going here, and I'll definitely be back.

Cortina’s Mexican Restaurant

Cortina’s Mexican Restaurant

Cortina's is no great shakes. There is no atmosphere in the place, and it's quite overpriced. I got vegetarian quesadillas, which were nice, but I've had far better. The service was quite slow and the place was utterly dead - no atmosphere to it at all. Overall, it was okay, but not somewhere I'll be running back to.

Nandos

Nandos

I love Nando's. The food is fantastic and the prices aren't bad. Also has free refills on drinks, which is always a bonus. The selection of sauces available is great too, I love tasting them all. I always get the veggie burger, which is absolutely delish, and they have a great selection of sides too. Definitely a place I'll be making a regular haunt

Mexico to Rome

Mexico to Rome

Posted on 01 September 2010
Went to Mexico to Rome with the boyfriend recently. Had one of the lunch specials. Prices aren't great for what you get. The food is nice enough, but completely unremarkable. The service was good though I have to say, a little bit slow but our waitress was very friendly and nice. All in all, it's alright, but not somewhere I'll be rushing back to

Zaytoon (Lower Camden Street)

Zaytoon (Lower Camden Street)

Zaytoon's not the kind of place I'd go to for a meal with friends, it's really more the kind of place you drop into after a night on the tiles. The food's a little over priced, but it's not bad, the servers are nice and friendly, food is served quickly. Also, the inside of the restaurant is gorgeous, lovely wooden furniture. I like Zaytoon a lot, and for end of the night feeding, it's perfect.

China Kitchen Restaurant

China Kitchen Restaurant

Posted on 06 March 2010
China Kitchen is essentially a takeaway with a seating area should you care to sit in. The prices are very good, you get a lot of food for the amount you pay and the food tastes good. The servers are a little grumpy and I've heard a couple of rumours about the cleanliness of the place, but I'd disregard them as it seems fine. Not the ritziest of places by any means and definitely not somewhere to take the girlfriend, but a grand spot for a cheap supper.

Pizzas n Cream

Pizzas n Cream

Posted on 06 March 2010
I've always liked Pizzas n Cream. The food is good. The prices are average. Service is a little slow, but the servers are pleasant. The back garden area is lovely to sit out in. I went here recently with a friend, we each ordered a starter and then split a pizza. We got a 30% discount since it was midday, so each ended up paying €10, which was great. Nice little restaurant, definitely be back.

Avoca Handweavers

Avoca Handweavers

The food in Avoca is great. It's fresh, it tastes good and it's well presented. However, it tries far too hard. The food is of the pretentious double barrelled name variety. Sundried tomatoes become "slow heat parched tomatoes" and the like. The prices are a bit too high. I got coffee and a rice crispie type confection, which added to over €5, which seem ridiculous for what is essentially a cup of beans and hot water and a rice crispie bun. Say what you will about that being the norm, this is in Wicklow, not city centre Dublin. Lower your prices, Avoca, and maybe I'll return

Eddie Rockets (Bray)

Eddie Rockets (Bray)

Posted on 06 March 2010
Eddie Rocket's is what it is. Fast food at proper restaurant prices. The food is decent, but for fast food, the prices are truly ridiculous. Also, the service in Bray is poor. There's very much a feel of "eat and get out". I'd usually only go to Eddie Rocket's when there's nowhere else, and even then I'll usually only get chips rather than a full meal, I just feel ripped off when I buy a full meal there. Great milkshakes though.

Wagamama

Wagamama

Posted on 06 March 2010
Went here on new year's day - the horrible day of snow and cancelled buses. Wagamama was just the ticket! Love the place. Amazing food. Good value. Nice servers. I got tofu ramen which I promptly tried (and failed) recreating the next day. The place is lovely, the food is gorgeous. Check online to see what specials are on and definitely go. One of the better asian restaurants in town.

The Mongolian Barbeque

The Mongolian Barbeque

Posted on 06 March 2010
My boyfriend took us here for dinner one night, which was lovely as it's different from the usual. However, it just so happened that the same night a group of 20 or so teenage boys had decided to eat too, so the queue for the buffet part was quite long as was the wait for the cooks to take our food off of us. Having said that, the staff were really lovely. I'm a vegetarian and they cooked my food seperate from the meat, which I appreicated. The table service was also good and timely with our server being very friendly and pleasant. One thing I will say - the tofu was quite soggy and unpleasant to eat, but other than that, I have no complaints where food is concerned. I would consider going again, but would rather get the early bird special as it gets more expensive in the evening.

Pizza Hut

Pizza Hut

Posted on 02 October 2009
The Pizza Hut Buffet is the ultimate in hangover food. We went here after a rather boozy night out and lined our already crying stomachs with their endless supply of all you can eat pizza. We each paid just over €12, which included a drink with free refills and left feeling far too stuffed. The service isn't great however, and it often takes awhile to catch the waiter's attention. The atmosphere also leaves a lot to be desired, with the layout of the restaurant leaving you feeling very much like they want you in and out quicker than one of Paris Hilton's relationships. Good value for money when you consider the all you can eat factor, but apart from the hangover buffet, I wouldn't bother.

TGI Friday (St Stephens Green )

TGI Friday (St Stephens Green )

Posted on 02 October 2009
I've always liked TGI's, although never get around to visiting it too often. The service is good, and prompt and the wait staff are friendly and helpful with recommendations. The value for money is fine. Nothing to write home about, and in some cases, a little over priced for what you're getting. The €5 cocktails are great, and it's a lot of fun for a girls night out, although we did find that the entrees were a little too steep for what you get. The portion sizes are great, and if you're hungry, then yes, you get what you pay for, but in terms of food quality, the meat is a little over cooked and the food is a little bland and basic. Still, definitely an old classic and one that I would return to again. It's a comfortable place to spend a couple of hours and the free refills on sodas is defnitely appreciated.

Milano (Dundrum)

Milano (Dundrum)

Posted on 02 October 2009
This is one of those places that one would pop into for a quick and easy bite to eat. The food was inoffensive but nondescript, a standard, basic Italian fare with little innovative flair. A cheap place, given a comparison to other restaurants in Dublin, but you do get what you pay for. Wines overpriced. The atmosphere was very, very poor. Apart from ourselves, there were very few people there and the place had the air of a large dining hall rather than a restaurant. A fine place for a convenient and somewhat satisfying dinner, but for dates or special occassions, give it a miss.
