Castle Cafe and RestaurantPosted on 16 July 2012
Beautiful location and restaurant. A cosy atmosphere. The menu was perhaps a bit limited. I had a Caesar salad. The other members of my group had pizza, fish and chicken. Overall, we found the food to be delicious. Our waitress was very polite and friendly. Desserts were great and there was a great selection, however, they were way overpriced. The food is a little overpriced and that is the restuarant's only failing point.

Riverside Cafe - SkibbereenPosted on 16 July 2012
Had a lovely experience here. Postitives were the selection of juices and smoothies, beautiful locations and nice food. We ended up sitting by the sliding doors which led to the courtyard. Some of the staff were very conscious of closing the door as they went in and out, others not so much which meant we were conscious of being in a draft for a lot of the meal. My sister's soup was cold so she sent it back to be heated. 10 minutes later it arrived back at which stage myself and the other member of our group had nearly finished our meal. The same happened with the desserts. Apart from that, we found the staff to be friendly and polite and food was delicious.

The Pink Elephant - CorkPosted on 16 July 2012
Quite disappointed with my experience at The Pink Elephant. Only one vegetarian option available (none available on the main menu). I do not like ricotta cheese and therefore this option was out for me. I ended up getting the vegetable soup and a bowl of chips. Exciting. Three of my group ordered the burgers which we sent back half eaten. These 'homemade' burgers were not homemade afterall, which was let slip by the staff. After making a complaint about the burgers the manager took great offence and explained that no one had ever had a complained about them and that the burger which had been returned on the table behind us was returned because the lady (a teenager) was 'half pissed.' In fairness to him, he did take the cost of the burgers off our bill. Location is lovely but the mediocre food and heavy price tag just does not cut it.

Neon Asian Street FoodPosted on 04 July 2012
Wow, I love this place! Went here tonight for the first time and I will definitely be back. Quick and polite service, great food, good prices (cans of minerals for €1; deal!) and all topped off by the ice cream machine. The place itself has a great atmosphere, lots of quirky details like doggy bags for you to take, chopsticks and cutlery, cool decor. A real gem which, I wouldn't have known about were it not for my friend. Would highly recommend. (Bring a flake for the ice cream!)

L'Officina by Dunne & Crescenzi (Kildare)Posted on 18 April 2012
I was very disappointed with my trip here. The lack of choice in Kildare Village meant we ended up going here.
We went to the 'fast food' section of the restaurant where you can get a few different sandwiches, ice cream cones and coffee.
Was intitially irritated by the que of about 12 people ahead of me; fast service was not their priority. I watched the lady in front of me get served the incorrect meal twice all while the rude waitress huffed and puffed. She then asked for a cup for her can of soft drink. This too was a big inconvenience.
I ordered a coffee (all overpriced) and an ice cream (which at this stage was half melted as I had to get it from the ice cream stand at the other end of the café). The waitress did not greet me in any way and when I asked for a glass of water she pointed at the bar.
I will definitely not be returning here even if it is one of the few options there!

Angus Joe's Steak HousePosted on 18 April 2012
I went here with my family last week. Was recommended to us by a friend who lived in the area. Looks small from the outside but the outdoor menu and Early Bird specials ads caught our attention. Much bigger inside. Modern and quirky interior.
The meal itself was lovely, my only critique being that the starter (a bruschetta) was quite small.
The best part of the evening was the wonderful service. Every one of the staff there was extremely polite and mannerly. Re-filling water glasses, stepping aside to let you pass etc. Little things but it was the attention to detail that made the difference.
Would definitely come here again, pity I do not live in the area!

D'arcy McGee's Pub and RestaurantPosted on 29 March 2012
Had a meal here last night. Great selection of steaks, curries, wraps, nachos, fish etc. Polite and friendly staff. A little slow with the food however. Great food. To be honest I was surprised as would not have thought of The Spawell as a place for good food but I would definitely return here.

Andersons FoodhallPosted on 09 February 2011
Popped into Anderson's for coffee and a snack. Upon arrival, we were more or less ignored by the staff and had to ask was there any tables free. The waitress stated that there was a table paying now so it would not be long. After watching 2 tables of people leaving and hearing nothing from the staff, we took it upon ourselves to take a seat. Eventually we were served by a waitress who seemed unhappy to be there. When asked were all the desserts available she simply said 'they are written on the menu.' She did not clear the dirty dishes left from the previous group until we asked her to do so (perhaps an honest mistake on her part). My pepperment tea was nice as was the scone. The main courses looked quite nice too. This would have been a very charming little place were it not for the atrocious service.

Juice Vegetarian RestaurantPosted on 31 December 2010
My first time at Juice after hearing lots of good things. The menu was nice but contained lots of ginger and corriander (which if you hate you can taste in anything!) I had a pasta dish which was full of flavour. Small enough portion but it was for lunch.
I would definitely return here again.

Teddy's Grill & Ice-Cream ParlourPosted on 31 December 2010
Great atmosphere and lovely staff but the food left a lot to be desired. My Caeser salad was one of the worst I've had. Wet lettuce, hardly any toppings, the sauce that was there was watery and tasteless. My friend had a steak which was very small and average. His vegetables were burnt (difficult to do!)
The only thing that would pull me back to this place is the the free drinks refill policy.

Eddie Rockets (Terenure)Posted on 01 April 2010
I am a complete convert to Eddie's since they introduced their new menu. It boasts a page full of meal deals which are great. I think the prices before were too high and turned me off going but the new menu is great and has really broadened its range. Myself and a friend shared the Tender Meal and a Veggie Burger, both were really good. We also had nachos, which were good but I've had better. The new Aero malt/milkshake is good too. Good service, goo food, better prices. The Terenure one is always quiet enough, clean and has parking.

AlfiesPosted on 01 April 2010
This place is a great find! The staff were so friendly and went out of their way to help us. Myself and a friend got the lunch deal with consisted of a started, main, side and soft drink for €10. DEAL! The dishes are served altogether in individual bowels on a long plate which was interesting but worked. Food was pretty good, my only complaints would be that the chips were a bit too chunky and the Caeser salad was quite fishy tasting. Otherwise, the whole experience was excellent. Beautiful decor, polite and helpful staff, good food and great value.

BotticelliPosted on 01 April 2010
This was an average experience. There was basically no atmosphere (although you can't fault a place on that as it was off-peak hours). Waiter wasn't the friendliest, considering we were one of onky 2 tables he had to serve. Food was fairly average. Great price but not the best food. While I would go back here again for the lunch deal cost, the food would and has turned me off returning unless I'm broke!
The Service and Value buttons wouldn't let me move them, but I would give service a 2.5 and value a 4.5

Fallon and ByrnePosted on 20 November 2009
Went here as part of a staff night out during the 'Dine out in Dublin' week. Atmosphere was great, cosy yet open and lots of people but not too noisy. As I'm quite a picky eater I found the menu quite restricting with too much fish. Chips tasted of old oil which was a bit of a turn off. In general, I enjoyed the night

This place is a work of art, I stop in here almost every time I pass just to look at it. Went here for lunch with a friend. I chose a sandwich type thing and he went for the soup. Neither were particularly spectacular and the prices were nothing to write home about either. I have not been here in the evening time so perhaps things improve then. Wouldn't be rushing back there soon (although Ill always pop in for a look!)

Bewley's CaféPosted on 17 August 2009
I really love this place simply because of its decor and atmosphere. Plush, sophisticated yet personal. I had a mid morning snack here with my friend. Hot chocolate with marshmallows. Delicious. She had a latté with a croissant which she enjoyed. I think that coffee prices in Dublin are way too extreme and this was no different but if you want to go somewhere nice this is the place.

A very disappointing experience. Went here with my parents. Between us, none of us were happy. Steak sandwich included anything but steak. Not great atmosphere, perhaps it would be better at night. Lisa's TrattoriaPosted on 17 August 2009
The exterior of the place does little to entice anyone inside, which accounted for the lack of people in the restaurant. Waiters were not the most polite. Food was acceptable but nothing amazing. Perhaps if the decor was to be updated and cleaned a little it would improve the situation.

Zaytoon (Lower Camden Street)Posted on 17 August 2009
I love this place. Reminds me of being in Turkey or the Middle East. I tend to buy the chicken meal deal which includes chicken pieces cooked in a tomato sauce, lettuce, red cabbage (I ask for it without this) and 2 sauces. A side of chips (which can sometimes taste very oily) and a can of soft drink. Portion is large and I'm always full afterwards. Great music, friendly staff. I have eaten here in the evening which is quiet but atmospheric and late at night which tends to be the drunken stop for many but is good fun. I'd recommend it for all

Myself and a friend had the lunch menu here. Appeared to be great value but in reality it wasn't that good. Portion sizes were quite small. Food - not great. Obviously the atmosphere was not great as it was an early lunch. Good service. Has the potential to be a lot better if it got the food sorted.

L'GueuletonPosted on 09 July 2009
Went here but was unable to get a table at the time. Returned an hour later, waited a few moments at the bar and were seated. I, being an extra-ordinarily picky eater was worried about what I would eat eventually settled on the chicken. I was not feeling altogether confident about this but when it arrived my mind was eased. The dish was extremely flavoursome, really rich. My partner had the muscles and said they were good but perhaps a little small and not the best he'd ever tasted. They came with a bowl of delicious chips.
When the bill arrived I expected to see a huge figure but it was cheaper than some of the average restaurants and yet you felt as though this was a little more special.

Eddie Rockets (Dundrum)Posted on 05 May 2009
Ate here with a friend. Although I like Eddie Rocket's I never find there food to be paritcularly amazing. Perhaps if the prices weren't so steep and didn't keep rising I would eat here more. The new special of a burger, chips and drink for 9.99 really appealed to me (someone who'd never touch an Eddie's burger) but to find that the Dubdrum branch had written on (not printed, but written) the signs that the offer was only available Sunday to Thursday till 5pm. What a joke! How come this is the only branch who are doing this. Who eats out at those times on those days? Very tight of the Rocket crew particularly as they prey on a young, student market.

Good atmosphere - nice to be in a restaurant that is different to the usual run-of-the-mill places. Good music.
Food was average, I think it's the kind of place where you really have to know what to pick and when you do it's excellent. I ended up getting something very simple which was a little flavourless. Food was a little bit pricey too.

The Porterhouse (Bray)Posted on 14 April 2009
Ate here with my family who had dined here before and liked it. Typical pub setting. Unfortunately we got seated beside a family with around 6 children, none of whom were controlled or had ever been told 'no' in their lives. Apart frm this, service was good, food was nice. I got the burger which was a bad choice as Im never a fan of a big hunk of meat but that was more me than the food. Would eat here again and I'd say it would be lovely in the summer, sitting outside

La CavernaPosted on 14 April 2009
This was one of the many times I have eaten here. I have quite a high opinion of it in my mind but in reality I am actually always a little disappointed. Myself and a friend dined here and although we just missed the early bird menu (which I would usually get and have to say is good value) we availed of the buy one pasta or pizza get one free offer which was excellent and meant that we could order a drink and desert and the night was still reasonably priced.
The service however is not great and its not the first time I have found this. On several occasions we found random plates being snatched off our table, waitresses leaning across us, no smiles, no apologies after a mistake on the bill was called to their attention. It was a pity because this lack of manners has and will make me think twice about returning here.

Roly's BistroPosted on 30 March 2009
I really like this place and it is seen as a treat to go here, something to get dressed up for etc. which is nice. I have been here once for dinner but several times for the lunch meal. This is very good value for what you get and I have to say the food has always been good. I am very picky and tend to steer clear of meat. I find it difficult to get something to eat which I will actually like. I have got the goat's cheese tartlet every time I have eaten here which is nice for what it is. I'm not the biggest fan of goat's cheese and this causes a slight problem, I have to eat around it. If you are picky or a vegetarian think twice but I like to fill up on the delicious soup and bread and on the bright side...I always have room for desert!
