Langton House Hotel KilkennyPosted on 24 April 2013
Called into Langtons for lunch and it was very busy but they are well used to it, lots of staff, quick service and quick turnaround - just exactly what you need for lunchtime. The food is good quality and plenty of it, its not gourmet food, but well cooked, plenty of it and good value. i had the chicken gougons and salad and theyu seem to have been prepared in house, my sister had the stiry fry and it was very tasty. Good value and quick service - great for lunch

The Cellar Bar Eglinton StreetPosted on 24 April 2013
Great buzzing bar that gives a good range of bar foo - they have award winning sandwich and they do a very good two course offer. I had dinner one evening and the food was OK, I was sorry I hadn't gone for the special as it looked fantastic at the next table. its why I gave them 4 out of 5 for value as it was inexpensive but the food could have been hotter. i've eaten there before and found it great so i will be going back

An Port Mór RestaurantPosted on 04 October 2011
Really great restaurant in Westport, I booked it based onthet reviews on TRipadvisor and wasn't disappointed. We shared the pig cheek and black pudding starter - fab - beautifuld homemade breads were presented and were great. The two mains of sea trount and a rump of lamb were equally good - though six different vegetables was a bit unusual. Afterwards we were too full for dessert - just as well as we were given some homemade Limencello and petits four which were really delicious. Great and friendly service also. My only comment on thevalue was it was unsual that the early bird wasn't on for the night on a mid week night as most restaurants are not restricting the early bird menu to a set hour - but we will definitely be back

Cosy Joe'sPosted on 30 September 2011
Cosy Joes is a nice pub with friendly staff - it calls itself a gastro pub but it is a long way from that. We had a steak sandwich and fish and chips. The steak 'sandwich' was oieces of overcooked, tough steak on a soft roll with frozen chips and a salad that looked like it had been made that morning. the fish was overcooked. My heart sank when I saw a group of French visitors coming in to try the 'gastropub'. The staff and service were great and we didn't even bother complaining as if they think that constiitutes gastro pub food they wouldn't have understood the complaint. it was 32 euor for 2 dinners and 2 pints.

Cafe en SeinePosted on 28 June 2011
Visited Cafe Seine for lunch with a party of 6; didn't look great from the outside but it had a good review on MenuPages and we were glad we went in. The place is like a palace inside with the most amazing mirrors, furniture and light fittings. We had 2 glasses of wine, 2 coffees, 2 cocktails (L5 Sun - Thurs), 1 large bottle of cider, 3 smoked salmon and prawn open sandwiches, goats cheese salad, toasted special and beautiful chowder - sandwiches were served with salad and fries and the bill came to less than 90 euro for the 6 of us. Really good value, lovely atmoshphere, service pretty slow considering it was afternoon but would recommend for a nice lunch when in town

Junos Cafe DeliPosted on 28 June 2011
Junos is just a few minute walk from Hueston Station and provides really freshly made food, with a very friendly service. It is reasonable and very busy at lunchtime so get there before 1.15. I had the calamari with a side of chunky chips - huge fat home made chips, really lovely lunch and my friend had the soup and sandwich special, it was less than 20 euro with a coffee.. All soups are home made and very enjoyable. They also do an evening menu and it is a poular spot

The Fish HatchPosted on 11 May 2011
Best fresh fish supper ever - the Fish Hatch doesn't do sit down it is a new fish bar in the Imperial Hotel. The Hotel has opened a 'hatch' in Pembroke St that leads into the hotel kitchen. The restaurant chefs there fry the fish to order and it is served in a large box, with hand cut chips, mushy peas, a napkin, knife & fork and a portion of vinegar, tartare sauce and ketchup. We stayed in the hotel and brought it back to the room. Loads of people were picking up orders and hopping into taxis to head home and another gang were just enjoying the food on the street. A fresh hake dinner with all the trimmings for 8 euro cannot be beaten. Plaice, cod, salmon and gougons also on the menu

Jacques RestaurantPosted on 09 May 2011
Wonderful food, great atmosphere and what a value menu for the quality. We were in Cork for a few days before Easter and had just read a review in the Examiner the weekend before extolling the virtues of the food, cooking and service. We had to agree, a three course meal of this quality for E25 was a bargain. The smoked chicken salad was lovely and the hake was beautifully fresh and straight off the boat. The desserts were great and we were offered a glass of prosecco on the house - a really nice touch. Would highly recommend it and look forward to going back next time we are in town.

Breathnachs BarPosted on 12 April 2011
really nice pub with a lively atmosphere, the staff were very friendly and chatty - a nice change from some places. The food was very nice, there were two of us and we had some mussels and garlic bread to share. I had the chicken gougons and my husband had the special of roast chicken - very nice but at 16.95 a little over priced. We stayed on for a few drinks and there was some great traditional irish music. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food

Padraicin's Restaurant & BarPosted on 12 April 2011
really great location to sit and have some food, overlooking Galway Bay. The food is a few euro dearer than other bar food but the atmosphere and views make up for that. There were 4 of us and we had lasagne, fillet chicken burger and the fish and chips. All made fresh and it was very tasty. We also had a chicken sandwich but at 7 euro it was not good value but otherwise it was spot on. Plenty of parking but i bet it's busy at the weekends and hard to grab an outside table!

BodkinsPosted on 12 April 2011
Was working in Galway for a few weeks and was passing by one day at lunchtime. The bar was fairly busy and a full carvery in place plus a menu of sandwiches and starters to order from. Service was good but at 8 euro for a wrap it was little dear for vegetables. Plenty of parking and you don't have to pay so that is good in Galway

La RivistaPosted on 10 December 2010
Very nice food at a very good price. We ate off the set menu which was great value for a Saturday night - 22.95 for two courses. I would definitely recommend the chicken wrapped in bacon and sage. The staff were very effieicnt and friendly and we needed to cheer ourselves up as it was so cold and icy outside.
They seem to do a wide range of special offers but the a la carte menu looks good. I'll be back and next ime I'm going to try one of the pizzaa - they looked great

Mocha Cafe & Restaurant (Kilkenny)Posted on 28 September 2010
really nice cafe that does a great lunch - if you like chocloate you will think you are in heaven - every type and kind of chocolate that you can think of. We had a really lovely home made lasagne served with great chunky chips and salad. it was lovely but I asked them to heat it half way through as it was cool - instead they gave me another portion that was piping hot. Very good service and it was less than a tenner. Nice atmosphere in the cafe with a pleasant and frinedly staff. Worth a visit for coffee or lunch

Langton House Hotel KilkennyPosted on 15 April 2010
Great buzzing place to call in for a speedy, tasty lunch. We got a table in the bar but there is a large restuarant out the back (both serving the same menu at lunchtime). We had a great freindly service; the chicken gougons served with salad and fries were hot, fresh and not those tough fast food types. My sister had the lasagne and found it a bit strange when she was asked if she wanted potatoes and veg but she chose the salad. It was a nice lunch, quick and effiicent service and good value - all you need during a lunch break

Lautrecs Tapas & Wine Bar KilkennyPosted on 03 March 2010
Four of us went for an Early Bird menu and the choice was good. the starters were good and the service was pleasant. one of the group had the Thai curry which wasn't spicy and the chicken seemed to have been left a while. She didn't want to make a fuss she just left it there - but I was amazed that a full plate of food wasn't commented on when the table was cleared. the restaurant wasn't that busy as it was early but it was pretty cold so wear a jumper. Overall the rest of the food was very good and I'm sure the meal would have been replaced if asked. Just one final note there are a number of places in Kilkenny doing a 3 course early bird for two with a bottle of wine for 50 - so 25 euro for three courses is not competitive.

The Farmgate CafePosted on 16 February 2010
We were in Cork for the weekend and had to visit the Farmgate in the English Market - we went for lunch. the place had a great atmosphere and you can look down on all the comings and goings in the market below. The service was great and the fod tased lovely, we had a variety of open sandwiches, but nothing beats the cakes. A really nice place to go for lunch in Cork and when you're finished you can pop downstairs and pick up the best of meats, fish and cheese

The Weir BistroPosted on 16 February 2010
We styated in Jurys at the weekend and decided to try the Weir Bar menu. It was a niuce menu and most of the main dishes were less than 14 euro - good for a four star hotel. The steak ciabatta and the tuna burger were particularly good. Very handy place to eat if you are staying in the hotel plus you get free parking

Carluccio's CaffePosted on 29 January 2010
Went here with my Mam before heading over the the Natioanl Concert Hall, just wanted a plate of pasta and a glass of wine. Really enjoyed the place as I used to eat in Carluccios deli bars when living in London. We had a great early bird deal of a starter and pasta for 13 euro each. thoguht we would get small portions but we got full size dishes and the food tasted really good. Staff were friendly and the pace was buzzing - perfect place for a nice plate of pasta and a bit of shopping and browsing for nice Italian provisions

Royal Spice Indian Restaurant KilkennyPosted on 29 January 2010
Visited Royal Spice last night with three friends. We all ordered various things off the menu, some like mild food whereas I prefer a spciy version. we all really enjoyed the food, the King Prawn Puri starter was the exact same as I used to have in my local indian when I lived in London - really enjoyed it. They don't do an early bird menu but it was good value. We paid 25 per head for starter, main, 1 alcoholic drink each and a coffee each inc tip. the staff were frindly and there was a nice atmoshepre in the place - lovely decor. we'll be back and they also do take-away

Little Italy RestaurantPosted on 13 November 2009
This is a new restaurant in Kilkenny and I've been there a few times. The early bird menu is great 16.95 for two courses - a good deal when some of the starters are 9.00. The food is very nice and the staff very friendly. Make sure you don't sit anywhere near the door, the door doesn't close properly and everytime some one comes in it stays open - we had to get up at least a dozen times!! Though that shows how popular the place is.

Key LargoPosted on 13 November 2009
This little restaurant on the bridge in Kilkenny is a great little find. As a group of 4 women we decided to meet for dinner on the way home from work . We couldn't believe the early bird menu 10 euro for 2 courses. We had soup, brushetta, garlic bread and a sald to start, followed by fantastic pizzas and chicken burritos. The service was attendtive and it was a nice atmosphere. Great place to meet up and have nice food - kids would love it
