Town Bar and GrillPosted on 08 January 2008
Went here over Christmas for a family meal. Food was excellent, with an interesting and different menu. Service was attentive without being intrusive, and the place had a nice atmosphere, with a piano player in the outer bar area. All made for an enjoyable evening, and I would certainly return.

TrocaderoPosted on 07 December 2007
Went here last night for dinner. Though we'd booked a table for 8:30, upon arrival we were told they were running a half hour late, and to come back at 9pm. We did so, and were seated at the bar for another half hour before sitting down at our table. Despite this delay we really enjoyed the evening. The atmosphere was great, both at the bar and in the restaurant, and all the staff were extremely friendly and very apologetic about the delay. In fact, when we'd finished our first bottle of wine our waiter arrived with a second on the house to make up for the delay. As I'd chosen poorly first time round he was happy to recommend another bottle which was really nice. The food was great - both of us had steaks which were cooked to perfection. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was great. I'll definitely be returning.

Indian Ocean DublinPosted on 24 October 2007
Fantastic. We went here for dinner last night and were absolutely thrilled with the place. We were shown straight to our table, however there was a lovely seating area with magazines and papers if we had needed to wait at all. The decor is really nice, very modern and classy. Service was outstanding, very attentive without being intrusive or overbearing. But the best of all was the food - without doubt the nicest Indian food I've ever had. I'm not usually a massive fan of Indian, but it was honestly one of the best meals I've had. They brought us over poppadums and tray of delicious dips/chutneys to start. I had onion bhaji and my boyfriend had chicken tikka pakora for starters, both of which were outstanding. I had a Chicken Makhani for the main, which melted in my mouth, and he had a Chicken Balti which topped the one we had in Birmingham (the home of Balti) a couple of weeks ago. We ordered a second round of naan as it was so good, and with this along with chapati and rice, we were too stuffed to attempt a dessert. We washed all this down with a beer and a bottle of lovely wine (all wine was 20% off for the night), and were offered a drink on the house after we asked for the bill. With the damage to the wallet being only €65 (without service) we left absolutely in love with the place, and will definitely be returning on many an occasion.
We've just been back for seconds, twice in as many weeks. This time we sampled the early bird - again outstanding, food, service and price.

Milano (Grand Canal Harbour)Posted on 13 October 2007
We popped in here for lunch during the week. The place was empty when we arrived but filled within minutes. I found the decor a bit dark, the red plastic seats, though "funky" were slightly cafeteria-like. The food was delicious, 3 of us had pizzas and one had lasagne, and everyone was pleased with their choices. The service was a bit hit and miss, we were served by at least three different people, and when it came to ask for the bill we couldn't gain anyones attention for around 15 minutes - which at lunch time is a bit too long when you've to get back to work. In saying that, they were very busy, but perhaps a more organised system for ensuring all tables are being looked after would be good. Good value overall, and grand for a quick bite, but I wouldn't be heading there for a special evening out.

The Porterhouse (Central)Posted on 05 September 2007
11 of us dropped in here after work before going to see a comedy gig yesterday. The waitress was extremely helpful, as we'd only managed to find seats in the bar area, she took note of our numbers and got us a table very quickly. We'd explained we were in a rush, and she was very attentive and speedy serving us. Everyone enjoyed the food. The menu is better than your average pubgrub by a mile. The tandoori pizza was a huge hit, very imaginative. Others mostly had the burgers, I like that you can choose either beef or chicken for all of them. The chicken salsa burger was delicious, as were the chunky chips. All had good portions and very tasty indeed. Washed down with the lovely beer, we managed our aim of getting in and out in under an hour, and all left thouroughly statisfied. Not the place for a romantic lingering dinner, but great for some quick, tasty and filling grub, at very reasonable prices.

Bobo's Gourmet Burgers (Wexford St)Posted on 23 August 2007
Stopped in here for a quick bite recently. The burger was gorgeous - lovely toppings and huge! Loved the chips, really chunky and a good sized serving in the little bucket. I love the Irish touches of having the Red Lemonade, biscuits and the salt in those big red and yellow tubs on the table (can't remember the name, but it's the stuff everyone always had in the kitchen cupboard) The cow print fur all over the place was cool, though my stool was a bit wobbly - wouldn't feel too confident heading in there late at night after one too many drinks! Overall, a great burger joint, plus there's wine.
