Initial impressions are deceptive here; the restaurant is quite small, and tacked on to the side of the pub - but the food is spectacular, as is the view over Ballycotton Bay. Whilst there is an early evening menu, we went a la carrte - tempted by the scallops on garlic potato as starter (€12) - which was only superb! We were also stunned by the gubeen salad, served with freshly roasted hazlenuts, lardons - and the assiette of charcuterie, which included an excellent paté. Regular mains include Ballycotton fish & chips with tartare sauce (the fish was pollock that evening - really tasty); two of our group raved about the Indian lamb curry, served with basmati rice & raita. They also serve some of the mains as smaller portions, for kids, or if you're not too hungry. There was a very good Macon Lugny on the list, and we also enjoyed (the following evening) an excellent organic Chinian (red) - both around €25. Top quality French cooking - but service is slow, paying the bill takes even longer and, judging by the numbers turned away, you do need to book.

BellagioPosted on 05 February 2010
The new Bellagio is very impressive - compared to its previous existence. The decor is very contemporary and stylish - almost a little out of place. Staff are very friendly and attentive. We went on a Saturday night - got a booking at relatively short notice. The place was buzzing. We were invited to sit at the bar while our table was prepared. At least you're not expected to wait in a neighbouring pub! We had a variety of starters, including deep fried stuffed olives which are unusual and satisfying; for mains we had lasagne and fillet steak - both of which were excellent. The steak was cooked perfectly. The Sangiovese was off, but we had a lovely bottle of Marinus. We enjoyed it so much, that we came back the next day, for tea with the kids.

The Studio CafePosted on 05 February 2010
I've often come here for coffee, and regularly for Saturday lunch/brunch with the kids. Whilst the atmosphere and decor are pleasant - it's very tight for space - quite cramped. Food is fine, for this kind of fare - although I have found that you do need to keep an eye on the bill (specials can frequently be charged individually).

Truly ScrumptiousPosted on 05 February 2010
The food here is probably better than average, for this type of eatery. On the upside, there is plenty of space, prices are reasonable and the staff are very accommodating and helpful. Have only ever had coffee/cake, or lunch here; believe it's open in the evenings too. Muffins are good - and their coffee is decent.

ManifestoPosted on 21 August 2008
We go here regularly, and have rarely been disappointed; lovely atmosphere, unique decor - and very friendly staff. One, if not both owners are always there. It's enchanting, unassuming and authentic - not going to blow you away, but won't disappoint either. Antipasto is good to share; specials are always reliable. Most recently, I had had crostini - which were superb - excellent dips and bread. The strips of fillet beef with Parmesan and rocket is a must; quite amazing combination of flavours. Gnocchi good too, or for something light, try to tonnarelli pasta with prawns and cherry tomatoes. They have a great selection of wine - and are happy for you to have a taste before deciding on a bottle - and, they know their stuff. You get a good meal for two, with wine, water and coffees for €80/90 - not cheap, but I don't mind paying for an enjoyable night out.
