Havana Tapas BarPosted on 27 July 2007
For some reason I expected this place to have improved since my visit last year: maybe because it is still open and always seems quite busy. However, my friend and I shared a disappointing bottle of red wine there, waited a long time for our food, then when it came the chicken skewers were raw inside! We got very little by way of an apology and had to wait again for some fresh ones. The peanut sauce that accompanied them was just strange - I have no idea how to describe it! If you want decent tapas n nicer surroundings head to the Market Bar...

Cafe en SeinePosted on 27 July 2007
This is a great venue for a drink with its amazing decor, though staff sometimes have to be chased to take an order. It's also difficult to get served at the bar sometimes if a lot of customers are sitting there on bar stools. I agree that there are better places in Dublin to eat, but if you are drinking in there and need a quick bite to eat then it's ok. The smoked haddock and fresh cod fishcakes were quite nice, though the bed of salad they came on was totally over-dressed, just dripping in some honey-mustard thing. The chips reminded me of school dinners and some were still a bit hard in the middle. Maybe just stick to drinks and forget the food in this place! A good bar to impress visitors to Dublin.

Ocean BarPosted on 27 July 2007
I've eaten here twice in the past few weeks, both times for Saturday lunch/brunch. I've found the staff pretty helpful and friendly though not overly attentive, and the food has been great! Nothing too out-of-the-ordinary, but I really enjoyed my scrambled eggs with crispy bacon, the fresh orange juice was just what I needed and my friends though both the Caesar salad and smoked chicken wrap with mango mayonnaise were great! It's quite nice and quiet during the day on a Saturday - perhaps some of the bad experiences other reviewers have had have been at much busier times?

Brownes Deli and CafePosted on 27 July 2007
Great for lunch - try the roast beef and horseradish sandwich with rocket. Really fantastic desserts too! A great place to come after a stroll on Sandymount Strand to read the papers and indulge...

I LOVE this place - it's my favourite! A great relaxed dining experience with truly wonderful food. Save some room for the white chocolate and ginger cheesecake!

Marios RestaurantPosted on 27 July 2007
I took my parents there when they came to visit, hoping for a nice meal. The service was terrible, the staff were unfriendly and we had to ask to order, they forgot things we had ordered, and the meals came at different times. Don't get stuck by the smokers door either - my mum was up and down from the table all night closing it after it popped open every few minutes blasting us with cold smokey air. The food wasn't that hot to start with! The food was pretty good though... Not good enough overall!
