Dobbins RestaurantPosted on 01 May 2009
Visited Dobbins on Saturday night last for a friends belated birthday treat and what a treat. Food was amazing very tasty from start to finish. Very reasonably priced at €45 each for full dinner - didn't even mind the 10% service charge as the service was excellent. I guarantee I will be back - good advice also when we were settling the bill - early bird menu available and good Sunday lunch - am booking soon for Sunday lunch!!! Atmosphere was great too - restaurant was busy but very comfortable and no fuss about vacating the table. Really impressed.

Marios RestaurantPosted on 17 April 2009
We used to go to Marios as a treat but service was a little slow and we always had to rush off as lunch only allows us 1 hour. The recession has kicked in and it's not as busy and I must say we're all very impressed with the lunch special of soup and a choice of 3-4 mains for €9.95 - very reasonable - still love the pizzas there fantastic! Bit quiet there now so service is very prompt!

Brownes Deli and CafePosted on 17 April 2009
Brownes is a great place for lunch if you can manage to get a seat there it's always busy at lunch times so if you're not in early you'll miss out! Thanks God the takeaway menu is just as great - sambos are freshly made in front of you and the choice of fillings is yummy! Bit pricey but you pay for what you get in fairness. Staff extremely efficient and the desserts if you can indulge are just fab!

La CavernaPosted on 05 March 2009
I took a friend of mine there for a Valentine's treat on the Friday before Valentines as it would be much quieter and indeed I was correct. Restaurant was recommended to me and I always like to try new places. Very impressed with the service and the food was great. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant and although the tables are very close together it's possible to have a romantic evening and semi private chat. I really liked this place and would definitely be back for another visit. It's slap bang in the middle of Temple Bar so it's perfect to start an evening out. Highly recommend it. It's quaint!

AutobahnPosted on 11 February 2009
Visited The Autobahn last night with a group so we booked in advance which was a good thing as they had reserved a space for us - busy on arrival and a really homely atmosphere. Food was great I recommend the garlic mushrooms or brie for starters. Good variety available on the menu and everyone was extremely happy with the food. I had the Chicken curry and it was lovely. Dessert choice wasn't huge but to be honest the portions for starters and main courses are so big you wouldn't really have room for dessert. Coffee to finish off a really enjoyable evening. Very high standard of pub grub and definitely returning.

Independent Pizza CoPosted on 09 February 2009
I absolutely love this place - I used to live on Whitworth Rd hence it was a usual haunt for me - I now live in Santry and try to pop in as often as I can. My favourite for starters is the Guacamole with Homemade Tortillas - sometimes if I'm there for a snack I have that plus a salad plus garlic bread which is very filling. Pizza's are great but the most amazing dish has to the the chocolate fudge cake - it's a must have. Service is always pretty good - adore it's sister restaurant Gotham Cafe on South Ann street just off Grafton Street.

Peploes Wine BistroPosted on 09 February 2009
Peploes is one of my favourite eating establishments at the moment. Went there Sunday evening at 6 and there was a few tables booked but not too busy. I was using a voucher so we were fully intent on having everything we wanted from the menu. I had the brie for starters which was very tasty and then I had the special which was Seabass. My friend had the Goats cheese which I helped finish - also delicious and a steak which was cooked to perfection. We ordered side orders of fries & spinich which were both lovely - both main courses were served with spinach so needless to say we were overloaded with the spinach. I thought the waiter might have mentioned this - didn't mention it in the menu that spinach were served with both - mine was the special so it wasn't printed he may have said it to me but I didn't quite catch it - we would have probably ordered another side order anyhow but it was all delicious. Both stuffed but managed selection of sorberts (chocolate scoop very rich) and just a bowl of icecream washed down with a lovely glass of wine from the extensive wine list. All in all a very good experience and will be returning. Not too expensive for the quality of food served in my opinion. Service is always super.

Shanahan’s on the GreenPosted on 06 February 2009
You know when you're planning a trip to Shannahans you need to prepare well - it's an experience you will never forget and thankfully one I have had a couple of times. The service is amazing and a real treat - the freshly baked bread cut and served to you is fab! Of course you need to order a steak - cooked to perfection I must say. Onion strings are a must - rest of the sides I can take or leave not really bothered. Desserts not brillant but I'd rather order half a starter like a half portion and a full blown steak and skip the dessert to be perfectly honest. We were there for a bday celebration once and the waiter overheard us saying it and landed over with a bottle of champers and a plate with a few chocolates decorated etc so seriously amazing - not expected at all but very well received. I love this place and love it as a treat!

Jo'BurgerPosted on 06 February 2009
The most annoying thing about this place is that you can't book a table so you have to wait to be seated - there's no bar area or waiting area so you're just standing there looking at everyone else eat their food or worse still your outside in the cold. The wooden benches are funky but little cushions would be very handy. There's isn't much space between you and the strangers at the next bench so it wouldn't be ideal to go there to have a private chat with your friend. The music is so loud anyway you end up shouting at whoever was fortunate enough to come along with you. No regular fries and no regular coke or 7up!!!!! Was a little disappointed to be honest - I'm glad I went just to say I've been there but won't be rusing back - bit pricey for a burger!

Toscana City CentrePosted on 06 February 2009
Toscana is one of my favourite restaurants in city centre - perfect location if you want to stay in town after having a fab bite to eat there. Food is glorious there - really good quality food - high standard - for a really good price. Service can be hit or miss depends who you get - some interesting characters there - sometimes can be a little slow but when you're out for the night you shouldn't really be rushing. Love it there at Christmas with all the lights. Toilets downstairs are very clean too - you can tell alot about a place by the toilets and these are well up to scratch. Good experience all round.
