Captain America's Cookhouse and Bar (Tallaght)Posted on 08 January 2008
Visited for the first time for junk food on new year's eve and it was just ok. Standard fare really but it is quite pricey for what you get. The potato skins are very filling but my sister got the chicken gougons and there were just 3 small ones for €7.95 (or something similar). The pizza was nice and the burgers looked good. The service was fine and the restaurant was nice. It's worth going for a bite if you're local but I'd say that this version does not compare at all to the one in town in terms of atmosphere.

Gordon Ramsay @ PowerscourtPosted on 08 January 2008
We ate here over the weekend and it was absolutely fantastic. I can't believe all the negative problems and I would have to put them down to teething problems. We had the prestige menu and every bite was just gorgeous and the main, the beef, was outstanding. We also got a bottle of wine for under €50 (one we wanted - we weren't just being cheap!!) so €275 including service for a meal of this quality which took well over 3 hours was well worth it. plus, they asked if we wanted more wine when we had finished our desserts but we chose to leave and go back to the room because we were so stuffed. We will most definitely be back again for a special occasion. The restaurant was incredibly busy for a Sunday and the service was impeccable. I could not fault this and will be recommending it. I hope that everyone else has the same good experience because I don't understand the negative reviews below.

Ate here last night with 2 friends and we had a lovely meal. The waiter was great, the food excellent, good range of wine and good portions. We’ll definitely be back. One complaint would be the bowl of chips for €5.95 (or was it €5.50??}) Either way, very very pricey for some chips and the bowl wasn't as massive as it claimed on the menu. However, that's only a minor point - good food, menu, service and atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

BruxellesPosted on 14 December 2007
Bruxelles does great pub food - great portions, always hot and exactly what it says on the menu. Avoid the chicken tenders with chips which are a little expensive for what they are and go for the burger. Even the sandwiches are good. Great for hangover food or that Friday lunch. Not a place where the diet is going to be kept. Not gourmet, but to be fair, no-one is expecting it to be!!

The Hairy Lemon Traditional Pub & RestaurantPosted on 14 December 2007
Ate here for the first and last time yesterday when I was suffering from a rotten hangover. I got the limpest club sandwich you could imagine (with SPICY chicken in it - which was not what it said on the menu - who puts Spicy chicken on a club sandwich???) You could count the chips there were so few of them and the condiments were the cheapest you can get. Plus, my side of coleslaw never arrived. €10.90 for the meal and I won't be going back. I wasn't expecting gourmet but I just should have gone somewhere else for my cure.

Marios (Terenure)Posted on 12 December 2007
Pre-renovations when Mario's was a lovely little Italian diner with good food; we would go almost fortnightly. However, after a horrific experience (comedy of errors) in Ranelagh, we hadn't been in ages. We decided to give it another bash last week and I'm sorry to say that things somehow seem to have gotten worse. The restaurant is nice, good crowd - however, the food is incredibly overpriced. It seems to have been bitten by the greedy bug and therefore has lost all of its charm. If you order a chicken dish, you get some spinach leaves on the side - for a chicken dish that is €16.95, this is very bad value. There are no chips/spuds/veg or even a decent side salad. All of these are extra. Plus, they forgot the wine and although hubby's pasta dish was tasty, definitely smaller than before. I'm hovering between giving this place 2 stars but the food is tasty so I'm going for 3. However, it's far too expensive for mid-week food and we won't be back.

Eatery 120Posted on 14 November 2007
I really like this place - it has a good atmosphere. I've never had bad service, the food is great (recommend the chicken and fish and chips) but I've 2 complaints. They don't give enough chips - the chips are delicious but 7 chips is not substantial enough when you're starving!! If I'm ordering the burger, I'm not on a diet - give me more chips!! Also, I wouldn't go here for a romantic night - the place is loud. However, I love the decor, the food and it's very reasonable. One of the better restaurants in Ranelagh.

Pearl BrasseriePosted on 14 November 2007
We had a fantastic night here a couple of weeks ago - definitely one of my new favourite restaurants and I love the little booths and the new decor. The service was excellent, the food divine and a great wine menu. Really really good - great value for money considering the amount of money you could pay in some restaurants in Dublin. This is lovely for a treat.

Farm Restaurant (Dawson Street)Posted on 14 November 2007
Went for lunch here today and I was pleasantly surprised at the level of service after reading some of the reviews. We found the service to be very attentive. We shared the pizette (which was massive) and we both had the burgers and they were lovely and fresh and juicy and came with a big bowl of chips. that with 2 cokes and coffees came to €37 which was good value. Good organic food, great service and good prices and the only reason it's not 4 stars is because I would never go there in the evening - it's far too sterile.

Fallon and ByrnePosted on 30 May 2007
We went here at Christmas and it was lovely. However, last Friday was a comedy of errors. Our table wasn't ready, they forgot the wine, the sides (then brought the wrong sides when we were 3/4 through our meal), forgot the coffee and then assumed a tip of €17.00!! Madness. The food was only ok too. This is such a shame because of the fab supermarket and deli...however the restaurant was a disaster. The room is fab and the atmosphere was ok.... however from the tables beside us, I know that we weren't the only ones getting rubbish service. Won't be back.

Milano (Dundrum)Posted on 29 January 2007
Went recently with a friend and thought it would be safe bet but it was terrible. We were at the back and it was freezing. They had no lasagne - this is not good & the waiter did not even apologise - they simply asked my friend to chose something else. My tortellini was only okay but it was a very small portion. My friend chose the cannelloni instead and didn't enjoy it at all - when it was taken away, the waiter kind of grinned and asked did she not like it, she said no and he didn't apologise, offer anything else or a complementary dessert or anything. Very poor. But my main gripe - €7.95 for a glass of house white. Unreal!! Will not be returning.

The Dropping WellPosted on 29 January 2007
Really like going to lunch here - really good food and lots of it. The chicken with mushroom sauce is a firm favourite of mine and the staff are always very friendly. Go early on the rugby days to get great soakage food before the place gets jammers. Always a good atmosphere and good fresh food.
