PichetPosted on 14 September 2012
My husband and I dined here on a Wednesday evening at 6pm. It was quiet but was quite busy by the time we left. We opted for the early evening menu as it was mid week. The choice was a wee bit limited. I had the risotto which was very nice and my husband had the country style terrine with celeriac remoulade which he thought was a bit heavy on the mustard. for mains he had chicken with dumpling in a light broth which he thorouhly enjoyed. I had the salmon whic was cooked perfectly and delicious but the butterbeans in the accompanying sauce were under cooked and hard. But all in all we had a lovely meal. The service was excellent and we will definately be back

The Fatted CalfPosted on 14 September 2012
Six of us dined here for lunch and it was fabulous. My better half and I had dined here on 2 previous occassions and really enjoyed it. Lunch was enjoyed by all in our group - no complaints apart from the desserts not being the same standard as the starters or main courses. But we will all definately be back again

Oscars RestaurantPosted on 08 December 2011
Dined here on a Tuesday night and it was quite busy. Have been here before and wasn't impressed but returned as there is very little to choose from in Mullingar. The service was prompt but joyless. I had the caesar salad which was alright and my husband and son had pop corn chicken with satay sauce which was nothing special. For main course I had the burger which was solid, too big and lacked seasoning while my husband had the pork ribs which never saw a bit of seasoning until the were smothered in bbq sauce. You cannot add salt to ribs after the have been boiled and you cannot make up for this lack of seasoning by smoothering them in sauce. It was 3 years since my last visit and it will be another 3+ before I go back. This restaurant only suceeds because there is little competition

Fallon and ByrnePosted on 11 August 2011
Decided to give Fallon & Byrne another go despite not so great experience in deli bar previously. We lunched upstairs this time and I must say it was a vastly superior experience. The dining room was relaxed and calm and service was prompt. We decided to go with the set lunch menu. I had a very nice broccoli & blue cheese tart to start although the balsamic reduction drizzled round the plate was a little on the strong side - it had been reduced too much. My mother had a simple but delicious pasta dish of linguine with goats cheese, scallion and spinach. All very enjoyable and reasonable. Will be back!

Greene's RestaurantPosted on 21 April 2011
Party of us dined here for Mothers birthday. Lovely atmosphere and friendly service. We had calamari/ scallops/ ribs for starters and all were delicious. For mains we had salmon, monkfish, sole, pizza and prawn risotto. All were nice with exception of risotto which was far too stiff and lacked flavour - I think stiffness was due to the fact it had been reheated in microwave and it most definately shouldn't have been. Service was efficient except for delay with coffees and bill but we didn't really mind. Would definately go back.

Flanagans @ Silken ThomasPosted on 21 April 2011
Dined here last night with husband. We were very disappointed. Food was not great. Husband ordered chicken wings which came with a sauce laced with vinegar? He could barely taste them for the pungent smell of vinegar. In fairness the waitress noticed something was wrong and replaced them without the sauce. I had the chicken liver pate with melba toast and it wasn't great. For mains we had fish/chips and burger. The burger was ok but fish/chips were over done. Service was friendly but definately will not be back

Mao Restaurant (Dundrum)Posted on 18 April 2011
Have had lunch here twice before and decided to give it another go after previous 2 visits were a bit hit and miss. First visit lunch was v nice and we had no complaints but second visit was not as successful so decided to give it another chance. The service was good and its not expensive but the food was as disappointing as our last visit. Food lacked the flavour as it had on our first visit. Husband had nasi goreng and I had chicken noodle dish and both lacked depth of flavour. Too inconsistent - wont be back

Carluccio's CaffePosted on 23 February 2011
I dine here fairly regularly usually for lunch and love it. I cant remember ever being disappointed. They do a lovely anti pasta board to share which includes a delicious capponata. My 11yr old son adores there spicy sausage pasta and calamari. The milanese di pollo and frito misto are also lovely - I could go on and on. The only negative, and its only a minor one, is the accoustics in the restaurant - it can be a bit noisy.

Gallery 29 CafePosted on 20 February 2011
Have eaten here on several occassions when in mullingar. Everything is home-made which is rare for cafes nowadays. Serve great coffee, lovely cakes (especially the chocolate fudge cake) tasty fish cakes and lovely quiches. Service is always friendly and efficenet only fault we have found is that sometimes portions a little on small side although this never deters us from returning

101 TalbotPosted on 19 February 2011
We dined here last night. Bit lacking in atmosphere but food is good. We kept to the early bird menu. Had a nice duck starter and very tasty stuffed chicken breast for mains. Delicious and excellent value but service a bit thin on the ground. Will be back

Carlo's RestaurantPosted on 17 February 2011
This was our first visit to this restaurant last night - came recommended by friends. We decided on the chicken wings and salmon from the early bird menu. We honestly couldn't fault it. Chicken wings came in lovely spicy sauce and were v tasty. Salmon came with a creamy white wine sauce and nicely dressed salad, at our request, and was delicious. Service was v stretched. Only one waiter and full restaurant which let place down although waiter did his best. Will def try again
