Damascus GatePosted on 25 March 2013
Went to Damascus Gate on Saturday night. The place was hopping. Service is friendly but they could do with perhaps explaining more what the different dishes were. The food was lovely, a bit bland, but tasty nonetheless. Quite the interesting experience and we would defintely return.

Spice of IndiaPosted on 08 May 2012
The food in this little gem is delicious. Best Biryani I have eaten and a good and fiery Vindaloo - plenty hot and still edible. Lovely staff. It was very quiet though which is a shame but good value and well worth a visit or more

Wrights Findlater HowthPosted on 02 May 2012
I was at this restaurant for lunch on Sunday with a large group and considering they were feeding 27 of us, it was really very good. Perfect steak and the staff were efficient and friendly. The loos could have used some attention though, otherwise it was a good choice for a big gang

Bridge Bar and BistroPosted on 02 May 2012
I'm only sorry I must have missed the Menupages deal rercently. This is a lovely restaurant - went there last year on a deal and returned last week on foot of it. Delicious starter of black pudding and a mad fried /boiled egg....fab steak. the service is friendly, the room very attractive and comfortable. the only draback is that it was very quiet but it was a Tuesday. Will return I hope - great for the DART too. Love it!

Mamma Mia Deli Cafe BarPosted on 30 September 2011
This place is a hidden gem. Only spotted it because of the banner at the bottom of the street. Loads of parking helped. The food is delicious, the service slightly chaotic but charming. You have to try the tiramisu. Intend to go back next week, and the week after that, and the week after that...

The Bloody StreamPosted on 10 January 2011
Had lunch here three times over December. There is a lovey atmosphere in this pub, particulary in the early evening. The food is pretty good for pub grub - the fish and chips the best in Howth to my mind. Nice staff and a big fire add to the enjoyment of the place. For out of towners, the Dart upstairs is a godsend!

The Brass MonkeyPosted on 10 January 2011
I ate here last Saturday night with a group of 8 friends. This is a great restaurant and a welcome addition to Howth. Great atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff and pretty good food. Eight meals and no bummers...to be recommended!

St Kyrans Country HousePosted on 17 October 2010
Very happy to be the first to review this restaurant. It is an absoute gem. The food is top class, the service warm and friendly and the value excellent. I had travelled to Virginia from Dublin to see a play and by pure chance had booked what I thought was an ordinary bed and breakfast, although the website implies quite different. Delicious starter of crab and crayfish salad followed by rump of lamb. The whole experience was delightful and I plan to return again in December. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough and wish the Keenans well in the future.

Masterson's Steak House & Wine BarPosted on 17 May 2010
Ate here on Friday night with three friends. Food was delicious; the sizzling prawns the nicest I have eaten outside Spain. Two ginormouse rib eye steaks were delish and my dog loved them the next day as the two women were both bested by them. Lamb cutlets perfect. Baked potato a bit tough but small complaint. The place was hopping, a bit noisy if anything, but nice to be in a busy restaruant. Lovely staff and service, yum cocktail - an all round good experience and we will definitely be back. The early bird looks like terrific value too

Casa TivoliPosted on 17 September 2009
Lovely restaurant. Was staying in the Slieve Russell and needed to escape the crowds. Saw this restaurant on Menpages and both reviews so far are spot on. Food delicious, tasted very authentic to me anyway but then I am not Italian. Charming and friendly service and t'would be reason enough to visit Ballyconnell.

Seafield Golf and Country ClubPosted on 15 April 2009
Visited Seafield House for a night and had lunch in the bar and dinner in the restaurant. The welcome at reception and the receptionists are spot on; the hotel is very dramatic looking, spotlessly clean and the bedrooms are fabulous. However, I will only say I would NOT eat there again. Waiting staff in both bar and restaurant are hopelessly under trained (if trained at all) and at the dinner prices being charged, it is just not on. Service absymal and food mediocre. Dessert lovely though. An hour and twenty minutes wait for a lunch of a bowl of soup more like baby food. Would NOT recommend anyone to eat there.

The Oar HousePosted on 11 March 2008
Good God...I must admit to having an experience directly in contrast to all of the below. Poor starter, fish and chips which tasted like re-heats; one of us sent back an entire piece of uneaten fish with absolutely no comment from the wait staff. I would have to say that bar this visit, the one good thing about this restaurant normally is the friendly staff, always a feature of restaurants owned by this 'chain'. Would be my last choice in Howth...

EllaPosted on 10 March 2008
Ate in Ella on Saturday night and as always was not disappointed. As a group of friends, we nearly always go to Ella for someone's birthday. The service is lovely and friendly; the manageress is great. All the meals were delicious; the duck perfect especially. It is by no means cheap but for a special occasion it is the place to go. The only drawback is if you are unfortunate to be put on the high tables but that said, it is, in our opinion, the best in Howth.

Montys of KathmanduPosted on 24 February 2008
Ate here last Thusday. Two of us shared a starter platter, the Nepalese meat masala with the dhall and peshwari naan. Absolutely delicious and more than enough for two. The service is attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend it and will return as soon as I can!

Fire RestaurantPosted on 19 November 2007
Ate in Fire on Friday night with a group of ten. Very buzzy and it is a lovely room. I had the prawns and the politically incorrent veal, both very good. One of our party had the lamb skewers which are delicious. However the monkfish, which sounded lovely, was dry and tough. On mentioning this to the staff, the very nice manager was apologetic and offered a bottle of champagne to compensate. We found the service to be efficient and friendly and it suits a group as it might be a bit busy and noisy if there are just two of you.

The Unicorn RestaurantPosted on 12 November 2007
Ate lunch here last Saturday with a group of six women and I have to admit I was a bit apprehensive after reading some of the previous reviews. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The antipasto was gorgeous as were the steaks but the lamb shanks were very disappointing...it is very difficult to serve up tough braised lamb shanks but these were. On the other hand, the service was friendly, charming and efficient and we did not experience what other diners seemed to (perhaps the owners are reading this website)and we very much enjoyed the day. I would agree with one previous reviewer that the wine list is very pricey and really pushed up the bill because the lunch menu is pretty good value. Will go back hopefully.

TrocaderoPosted on 11 October 2007
The Trocadero is my absolute favourite restaurant. I only go there for special occasions, not just when you go out for a 'bite to eat'. Ate there last on the 29th September to celebrate 30th and last wedding anniversary and it was as close to perfect as it gets. The service is warm and welcoming. I would have to say that the risotto was edible but not great but however, the rack of lamb was bordering on magnificent. All the staff do a superb job.

DarwinsPosted on 11 October 2007
Ate in Darwin's yesterday evening before rushing down the road to see Long Day's Journey into Night. Tomato and mozzerella salad and the black pudding and apple starters gorgeous. We all had the steak and empty plates returned. I will definitely return and stay longer. Can't really rate atmosphere as it was early and quite empty but the service was good and friendly. Vegetarian menu would nearly tempt the most ardent carnivore!
