The Wild Goose GrillPosted on 29 July 2010
Ate here with a friend on Sunday evening. We arrived without a booking and were warmly greeted. Given a lovely table and the waiter who looked after use was very professional and warm. Wine waiter was also very helpful and friendly.
Boringly my friend and I had identical meals - Frois Gras and Veal. The Sauternes I had with my Frois Gras was a real addition to the experience. The Frois Gras itself was really good - lightly seared and the brioche and Jus were lovely.
The Veal for main course was really delicious, beautifully cooked, was a very generous serving and the accompanying vegetables were delicious.
It being a major 'catch up' dinner we also went for deserts - a very clean Panacotta for me and a chocolate bavarois for my friend. Mine was the winner here.
We drank a very lovely Gavi de Gavi with dinner and while not a cheap evening it was real value for money.
Well done The Wild Goose - great food, in a lovely room and were served. I'll be back.

PichetPosted on 10 December 2009
Did we eat in the same restaurant!
From the moment we arrived for a late lunch the service was wonderful. Great lady looked after us and was wonderful, charming, funny and very attentive. It was a catch-up lunch with an old friend and although the restaurant was busy with Christmas Parties the service never flagged. The food was wonderful - the egg and seranno ham and the Ballotine were wonderful, main courses were divine. We skipped desert and went for the cheese board - really lovely presentation, cheeses in great condition and some lovely cheeses offered. The wine list is really good - small but very well chosen. 2nd time there and on both occassions Pichet delivered - great food and great value. And the owner was charm itself.

The Unicorn RestaurantPosted on 23 July 2008
Saturday afternoon, sitting outside the Unicorn, actually sunshine in Dublin and a wonderful lunch it doesn't get any better.
Never been a huge fan before but last Saturday they really did blow me away. Starter of Clonakilty Black Pudding and a main course of Lobster with Linguine - was sublime. The Lobster was the best I've had outside the states.
Impeccable service. Great wine. Wonderful food. These guys deserve to thrive.

Alexis Bar And GrillPosted on 23 July 2008
Went for Sunday lunch having read great reviews and comments. Arrived without a booking, restaurant was 1/4 full so no problem getting a table.
Waiter was chatty and pleasant. Ordered - Lambs liver for me and pie for my friend. And a very nice bottle of a spanish red.
That's when it all started to go pear shaped. Food was served, and it was very good. But all arond us people were getting served wrong dishes, any table of more than 2 customers got their food odd times.
Main course finished. Wine was going down well. We wanted dessert. No one cleared. Manageress sat at the table beside us. Still no one proferred dessert menus. Wine was emptied. Still no one checked. At one stage there were 4 staff behind the bar counter and still no desserts. After 15 minutes I asked someone for a dessert menu. After a full 10 minutes no one came to take the order. Time to go. They missed out on dessert, glasses of wine, coffees and satisfied customers.
Shoddy service. Bill was €51 - which would have been good value if the experience was better. In the manager's favour when I explained the problems - she gave us a lunch voucher. I've no desire to go there again - and not sure my friend will either.
Real shame that good food gets so badly handled by bumbling amateur service
