Chapter One RestaurantPosted on 21 December 2011
Returned to Chapter One for a family celebration. As always the service was brilliant- very attentive and yet very discreet. Food was wonderful, absolutely delicious. Surrounds topped off a perfect meal.

La Cuvee @ Eno Wine BarPosted on 21 December 2011
Ate here recently with some colleagues. Firstly the surroundings are fantastic, it feels like you are in someone's cellar!
Service was great throughout, friendly and efficient.
Food was very good. I had a beef sandwich with a soup (served in cappucino cup), and for the two it's a deal for just over €8. You won't get better value and quality in the IFSC for lunch.
Will be back!

New Millennium Chinese RestaurantPosted on 21 December 2011
Ate here with a friend last night. We initially went in for the 4 course early bird which on the face of it seems like great value, but with some closer examination is anything but!
Opted to eat off the a la carte instead, food was fine, nothing special, but it was not cheap. My main was €13.50 PLUS €3.50 for rice. Service throughout was efficient.
Won't be rushing back.

RoastPosted on 08 February 2011
Flawless meal here. We had got the citydeal voucher like a few others it seems on here! The surroundings are really nice and the food was delicious. We both had steaks which were cooked to perfection, and were served with chips and a very delicious Bearnaise sauce. I had the lemon tart and my other half had the brownie for desert. Both were delicious. Good wine-list with a good degree of choice. To top it all off, great, friendly service the whole night. Will most certainly be back.

Brownes Deli and CafePosted on 11 January 2011
Have to say I had a very positive experience here! I joined a party late so I only had a starter, but the staff were very friendly and attentive and the French Onion Soup was very good indeed. My only quibble was that the crouton on top wasn't crispy enough for my liking, but still a very good dish. Everyone else who had the full early-bird seemed to be enjoying the food immensely!

Octopussy Seafood TapasPosted on 13 December 2010
I had been here before and I was a big fan, but it has slipped it seems. The food was just ok, not what it used to be in my opinion. The service was fine but nothing brilliant. Wouldn't be rushing back I have to say.

The HousePosted on 14 November 2010
Went here for lunch with a friend, had heard good things and wanted to try it.
The House didn't disappoint. Interior is very cool and the service was very prompt and friendly. I had the steak baguette, which came with a very fresh salad, nicely dressed and a few onion rings. Meat was tender and cooked to my taste. I will be back, as it is great food and brilliant value for money.

Jewel in the Crown (South William Street)Posted on 14 November 2010
Went here with friends for a meal and I will never go back. Firstly we were told by the guy on the door that we could still get the early bird value meal, despite it being just over, which was much appreciated and he was very obliging. Upon siting down we double-checked with our waiter to make sure and he said that we could order from this menu no problem.
Meal was fine, food tasted good and service was prompt.
Our issues started when the bill arrived. We had not been charged as per set menu, so rice and starters were added on extra. This made a difference of €20 between us. The bill still seemed high and we asked for clarification, we were told that our beers, large bottles of Kobra, were €6.95 each. This is a scandalous price, half the price of our meal. We asked to see where this was on the menu and they said they didn't have a price list for their beers, which is illegal if I am not mistaken but definitely underhand. To top off all of this I was unwell after the meal due to the food, so I will not be back.

ely winebarPosted on 30 March 2010
Went here during the dublin dining week. Starter and desert were both very enjoyable. Main Course was a little disappointing. I ordered beef medium rare and it was just hovering around medium and was a little tough. Overall though the meal was very nice, and the service was really brilliant. Would go back.

The Port HousePosted on 30 March 2010
Went here as it came highly recommended and it didn't disappoint. The place itself is great, brilliant atmosphere. The table was a little cosy beside the kitchen, but that didn't detract from the night at all. There is a great selection on the menu, and we ordered a number of items and had a bottle of wine. It was fantastic value for two people and the service was prompt and attentive. Would definitely go back.

The Oar HousePosted on 14 April 2009
The best meal out I have had in a long time. The service was extremely friendly, professional and of the highest quality. I was here with family, and the entire 8 of us enjoyed every bite, everyone's food was stunning. I had the haddock smokies to start which were beautiful. Had the steamed mussels for mains and they were some of the best mussels I have eaten and were extremely fresh. Desert was the Mississippi mud pie, and it was a very nice way to cap off the meal. The value for money in this place will not be beaten. It was a testament to the place that on a drizzly Monday evening the place was packed. Dying to go back.

The Real Gourmet Burger - Dun LaoghairePosted on 14 April 2009
Ate here recently with some friends. The food was good, but I just felt that it was a little overpriced. I didn't like the onion rings and I thought they were a little underdone as they tasted very acrid. Deserts were good but again I just felt slightly cheated in that they were pricey and that the mint syrup I was promised with my tort bared no taste of mint whatsoever. I am a firm believer in delivering on what the menu promises. Service was ok, but we seemed to be juggled by a whole host of different staff the whole night. Would go back if in the area but in no rush to do so.

The Counter DundrumPosted on 09 April 2009
Went here with a friend. Had two good burgers, they were a little dry but good all the same. I like the choice of everything really from the burger to the toppings all the way to the bun. One slight gripe was that I ordered roasted green chillies on the burger and they put jalapenos on it instead. I know they are a very close sub but I'd have preferred if they just asked me if the sub was ok. All in all though it was a very pleasant meal and the service was good. the fries and onion rings combo is a nice idea and perfect to share.

Avoca HandweaversPosted on 12 March 2009
The food is stunning and is very good value. It isn't cheap, but I had a huge portion of lasagna with rocket and garlic bread. All was delicious. My friend had their terrine, which came with a choice of 3 salads which we felt again was very good value and very substantial. thankfully we were there midweek and it was quieter than at weekends. My only gripe is that the food is very good, but I had to pay 2.40 for a can of coke which is scandalous and in hindsight i wish I had put it back. The coffees weren't great and they were on the pricey side, well over 3 euro. Would go back, but would stay on the water.

l'Ecrivain RestaurantPosted on 17 November 2008
Had a wonderful meal here. The service was very professional and attentive. The surroundings are beautiful and are atmospheric without being loud or overbearing. The food was unbelievable, every bite was delicious, had quail to start and mallard for mains. Desert was breathtaking, an apple and cinnamon terrine with the most intensely tasting apple sorbet you could imagine on the side. The amuse bouche and other small courses were all delicious. As it was my birthday meal I didn't get to see the bill, but it is true, it isn't cheap, but it was the best meal I have ever had. Another nice touch was that we mentioned in passing to the wine waitress that it was my bday, and my desert came out with Happy Birthday written on the plate, just a simple touch, without any singing or fuss (thank god!) Will go back when I amn't a poor student!

The Terrace CafePosted on 08 August 2007
I was meeting someone for a quick lunch; the service was prompt, attentive and friendly. The atmosphere isn't too great, but is the best it can be in the space they have. I had a main course sized serving of fishcakes (they come as starter and main), they were grand, a little salty, and as a main it was a little small, it only came with a small serving of salad, and altogether wasn't unpleasant but didn't feel like good value for money.

Went there for an early evening bite to eat. The food was decent, but the service was slightly on the slow side, however they were quite busy. Overall the menu is good value for money, although some dishes are a little pricey. Another very positive thing is that the place always seems to be busy whenever I pass it.
