DeVille's DalkeyPosted on 13 January 2013
My girlfriend and I visited DeVille's for lunch today and I absolutely had to write a review immediately. Although I had heard many great things about DeVille's I always try to reserve any opinions before trying a place myself. In this instance it wouldn't have mattered - everything I have to say about DeVille's is high praise.
We arrived and were seated immediately. The ambiance and setting is lovely. While the restaurant is cosy and intimate, no one's on top of any one and there's lots of space between tables and booths. The overall feel is of a highend American Bar and Steakhouse. Noise levels are good and it's easy to have a private conversation without the place feeling quiet.
I had a Winter's Salad with Goats Cheese and Beetroot to start, a Gruyere and Bacon Beef Burger with Frites and Salad for main, and a Warm Chocolate Brownie for dessert. My salad was perfect. The pronounced flavours of the Goats Cheese and Beetroot were delicately balanced against a mix of leaves and nuts and brought together with a lovely tangy dressing. The burger was the best burger I've had in a very long time. Couldn't have been better in any way! Finally the Brownie was a lovely combination of slightly bitter chocolate and whole hazelnuts, which was moist without being wet or damp - really, really nice.
The prices are extremely reasonable and I would not hesitate recommending deVille's to anyone. An really brilliant lunch.

Avoca Cafe (Suffolk Street)Posted on 21 May 2012
Avoca is a Dublin institution when it comes to Sunday brunch. Though that's not to say it's not a great spot for lunch or breakfast any other day. I only ever order one thing on the menu - French Toast and Crispy American style Bacon. It is always perfect, and always incredibly delicious.
Watch out for a bit of a wait though, the place gets very, very busy at the weekends!

Brownes Deli and CafePosted on 21 May 2012
I work locally and often pop in to Browne's for either takeaway or sitdown food. To date I have never been disappointed. This is one of those little gems of a cafe / deli nestled in one of Dublin's beautiful little southside villages. The food is fresh, made with care and attention, and all brought together by a staff that are second to none.
Whether it's a working lunch or an intimate Sunday brunch, Browne's has a menu offering something for everyone.
I definitely recommend a visit!

Eastern SeaboardPosted on 20 May 2012
If you haven't eaten in Eastern Seaboard yet, all I can say is, you must! Eastern Seaboard offers an incredible selection of food suitable for anything from a light afternoon snack, to a wholesome lunch, to a full and formal dinner.
The service is absolutely brilliant - friendly and easy going staff who seem to remember everyone of their customers, even those only there once or twice. The food is even more impressive - flavours and dishes to suit every palate, I don't think that you could have any trouble finding something that not only satisfies but absolutely stuns you.
Go out of your way, make a special trip, drive across the country - do whatever it takes to enjoy a meal here. You will be incredibly thankful :)

Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK South Anne Street)Posted on 20 May 2012
I would estimate that I eat in GBK on South Anne Street at least 3 to 4 times per month. It is, without question, the best burger joint in Dublin. Aside from seriously delicious, perfectly cooked burgers, the staff are brilliant. Always attentive, remember regular customers, and happy to go out of their way to accommodate any special requests.
If you're looking for a burger then there is only one place to go!

Expresso Bar Cafe & Wine Bar (Ballsbridge)Posted on 20 May 2012
I used to work in the area and frequent the Expresso Bar Cafe quite a bit but hadn't been in a while and decided it would be nice to go back for Sunday brunch with my girlfriend. It was fairly busy when we arrived at noonish but we got a table straight away. I ordered the French Toast & Crispy American style Bacon and she had the full breakfast.
I was beyond disappointed. The French Toast was lovely but the (two) thick cut soggy rashers that arrived with it were awful. Barely edible to be honest. My girlfriend's breakfast consisted of mostly reheated, originally deep-fried food. Shocking for the price of it.
I will not be going back and I would be advising everyone I know not to go.
