The staff just don't want to serve you. I have got into the habit of stopping for a coffee at this place but 50% of the time the serving staff aren't physically there (they are having a smoke outside, or at the shop across the street, or at the chemist next door or just....not there). Honestly, half the time you won't be served a morning coffee.
While the coffee is good the inability to know if you will be served means I recommend you go elsewhere for a morning coffee.

Jewel in the Crown (Ballsbridge)Posted on 19 January 2010
A good place for lunch, with a shortened menu being offered. Not a wide range of vege dishes offered, but the spinach and cheese dish is a hit with my work colleges.
Onion bargi's are huge for an entree, suggest you could share between two. The chicken is nice and moist.
Well spaced out tables and prompt service.

Baan Thai (Ballsbridge)Posted on 11 November 2009
Outstanding food from a varied menu. On our table we had wonton soup with prawn and a crisp piece of spring onion to add bite, and the sharing entre platter which was very tasty. Everyone enjoyed their mains, which had lots of veges and sauce. The squid was perfectly cooked, the duck was not overly fatty. Be warned that the food may be spicer than at some places.
The tables were very close together, so is best in a group or for a non romantic occassion.
Up stairs so not suitable for people with mobility issues, especially with the tables so close together.

KitesPosted on 04 November 2009
Upstairs room great for a group. Twenty people went for lunch and the service was very good. Most of the food looked great, but I was disappointed in my duck - not enough meat and no vegetables at all with the dish. Wine menu good value.

The Long StonePosted on 21 October 2009
Excellent value for money, tasty food. A group of us visited The Longstone and ate a variety of meals. All of them were very good for pub food. I had a huge plate full of chicken and vegetable stirfry, moist chicken, crisp vegetables, fluffy rice and morish black bean sause. The hamburger was well cooked with a side salad and fresh chips. Made to order omlettes were a healthy choice.
Food is delivered quickly, so would make an ideal lunch break. Staff friendly. Beer garden looks like a nice place for the summer months.

The Lobster PotPosted on 01 October 2009
Early Bird Menu is good value.
White linen, tempting desert trolley, a tray of fresh fish shown to you so you can choose a combination of what to eat, and good old fashioned service made this a meal to remember for all the right reasons.
The calamari was cooked well. My friend was singing the praises of the duckling. Good wine list.
The restaurant is one the second floor with numerous steps so not suitable for those how have mobility issues.

Bella Cuba RestaurantPosted on 30 September 2009
Black Bean Soup is brilliant!
I visited with three work colleges and we had two courses each, and two bottles of wine. Very good price. We found the service was good, but that is because the waitress was always free when we needed her. With only one person on the floor some people waited a fair amount of time to get the waitresses attention.
We had a range of food, including the drunken rice (very filling) and the duck (one of the best cooked ducks in Dublin I have found).
The restaurant is on the second floor up a lot of stairs so not suitable for those with limited mobility. The toilet is half way up the stairs.

The Cedar TreePosted on 02 September 2009
I visited with a friend who is a Coeliac and the staff knew what dishes she could eat without a pause. She had a wide choice available.
We had the early bird menu and the amount of food is huge! The Humus and Falafal starters were great. We both had the chicken as a main, very moist. Potato side was a hit.
Wine is a bit expensive, but they have a selection of lebanese wine if you want to try something different.
An enjoyable experience, I'd be back (and maybe only order one meal for two people!!) Definatley the food is value for money.

Queen of TartsPosted on 12 August 2009
This is a very cosy cafe and great for meeting people for a pot of tea and slice of cake. It's a great location just opposite Dublin castle.
Staff attentive, cakes delicious.
I wouldn't bother with eating real food here though, and on wet days it gets very steamy as people crowd in and clothes dry off.

Millers Pizza KitchensPosted on 12 August 2009
Visited with a friend for a mid week meal. The staff were brilliant, friendly and attentive when needed. The special offer looked tempting, but I went for the wild boar pizza which was very tasty. It was a generous size and certainly filled me up.
The cafe style furnishings of this place gives it a lovely atmosphere. Great for small groups, families, or people dining alone.

Maia RestaurantPosted on 11 August 2009
I ordered the John Dory, and was served a different type of fish altogether. At 17 euros for a substitute fish this was far to expensive.
Other people's meals looked really nice, especially the salad. But I felt very disappointed with the fish choice.
